Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – Janglin' Lyrics | 14 years ago |
FAVORITE on the album. I love the "janglin" in the background. |
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – 40 Day Dream Lyrics | 14 years ago |
amazing! |
Bright Eyes – Mushaboom (Feist cover) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Great great cover. |
Elton John – Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I hope you're joking. |
Broken Bells – The Ghost Inside Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I believe in the verse: "Feel like a daughter She's like a star tonight Without wanting She gave up The ghost inside" It's actually with "without a warning" rather than "without wanting." I think. They're so hard to understand sometimes haha. |
Broken Bells – Vaporize Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Love this song. Seems to be about two people that didn't want to be the typical married couple that live boring lives. They always said they'd be different, but they come to realize the years have passed them by and they've yet to do anything extraodinary. That's just my interpretation. Beautiful song. |
Broken Bells – The High Road Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think you're right relgillgirl. I think this will be the best album of 2010. It's everything I hoped it would be and more. James Mercer just never disappoints. What an amazing album! |
The Avett Brothers – Slight Figure of Speech Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I love this song! It's probably my favorite off I and Love and You. I think this song is about being true to who you are. This song will pull you out of bad moods of all sorts. |
Monsters of Folk – Dear God (Sincerly M.O.F.) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The lyric "Good god I know you have your reasons" shows understanding. "Dear god I see you move the mountains Dear god I see you moving trees Sometimes its nothing to believe in Sometimes its everything I see" this shows how intelligent design is so abundantly clear when you look at nature. "Dear god, I wish that I could touch you How strange sometimes I feel I almost do And then I'm back behind the glass again" I think this song is about the struggle to know God. We have so many questions, like "Why do we suffer?" despite his existance we can't seem to find these answers. |
Monsters of Folk – Dear God (Sincerly M.O.F.) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Buy a conor oberst cd if you only want to here him. I love conor, but all four men are EXTREMELY talented. Especially the lovely M. Ward. |
Monsters of Folk – The Right Place Lyrics | 14 years ago |
turnmyheadintosound: I think it means do you like the things you say/talk about. I just love this song. Especially this line: "i needed you like you needed me... people, they need piano keys." I'm seeing them live in 3 days! I really hope they play this. It's beautiful. Who is singing on this song? Is it M. Ward? |
Mason Jennings – I Love you and Buddha too Lyrics | 14 years ago |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbSOPuN7OhE&NR=1 he pretty much describes what the song means here. :) I <3 you mason jennings! |
Mason Jennings – I Love you and Buddha too Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Oh how i love this carefree song. so catchy. it sounds like someone familiar is singing background? could it be jack johnson or am i crazy? it sounds like him. |
Robert Pattinson – I Was Broken Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I know it's not for New Moon, and I'll probably get yelled at for even saying this, but the lyrics match new moon PERFECTLY. I wonder if it will be used in the movie. |
Robert Pattinson – Let Me Sign Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Agreed! Edward Cullen is coming for me! |
Robert Pattinson – Never Think Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Yes, even though it was not written for Twilight, it goes well. But I think it is better for New Moon and Eclipse. The reoccuring theme is that he doesn't want her to throw away her human life, he thinks it will damn her soul. That's what makes it PERFECT. I love the series, I love Robert Pattinson, I would have loved this song if it was total shit. The fact that it's amazing is just a bonus!!! :) |
Peter Bjorn and John – Teen Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Wow I can't believe no one has commented on this song! It's probably my favorite of PBJ's. I think this song is about falling in love for the first time. |
Peter Bjorn and John – Lay It Down Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Yes I agree. I think maybe the lyricist is the friend of this guy who has the girl. Maybe they met her at the same time, and both liked her, but the other guy got her. Now he sees his friend not taking care of this girl the way he would. My favorite part of the whole song: "And when we saw her face I said she's something else She was your only hope And still you let her down" Although I love when he says "hey shut the fuck up boy too" :) |
Jenny Lewis – Pelican Bay Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I absolutely love her voice in this! It should have been on the actual album! |
Jenny Lewis – Big Wave Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think she wrote this song about California. I saw her about a week ago and she played this song and said "as you guys know I'm from California, and California is kind of broke right now. So I wrote a song about it." I think this was the song. |
Rilo Kiley – The Angels Hung Around Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I was kind of disappointed by Under the Blacklight, however I love this song, as well as Silver Lining. Those are the only ones that really felt like they really said something. While this one is repetative like the others, and does have a very top 40 sound to it, I really like it. I agree with SlackerCS. I think it's about someone you love dying, and being so overwhelmed with grief that you're just waiting to die yourself. But also it's interesting that she says this guy was "acting like a bad, bad man" and that she maybe was n't the best person she could be, but still the angels were coming to get her probably to go to heaven. Maybe because they both had been abused and put through so much, God was going to show them mercy for the bad lives they led. |
Rilo Kiley – Pull Me In Tighter Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"And I still count my blessings When I am standing with you And no, I never learned my lesson I'm still a dedicated fool" I love this song! Her voice is beautiful in it! |
Rilo Kiley – Teenage Love Song Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think that's kind of the point. She is writing from the view of like a 15 or 16 year old girl. |
Rilo Kiley – Glendora Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I love listening to this song and singing at the top of my lungs thinkin about the guys that have treated me like shit. It is great therapy in that regard. :) I love the tone of her voice when she says "Why do you Jenny?" |
Rilo Kiley – Glendora Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Yes there is. |
Rilo Kiley – Capturing Moods Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"I don?t mind waiting if it takes a long, long time And I don't mind wasting the best years of our lives" I like this line. I think it is about a young couple. Personally, i know when you're young, and in love with someone you get alot of shit for it. Everyone tells you your wasting your youth, and you should meet alot of people while your young, but personally I don't mind "wasting the best years of our lives" |
Rilo Kiley – Go Ahead Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree with most of you guys. I think it's kind of like, you don't want to be in a relationship with someone who isn't happy with you. If you think you can do better go ahead, if you think there's a way you can have your cake and eat it too, go for it. But "if you want to settle down and plant roses at my feet" then that's cool too. :) I like it alot. |
Rilo Kiley – Spectacular Views Lyrics | 15 years ago |
A year and a half ago, i went to their show for their under the black light tour, and as a final song in their encore they sang this. It was awesome because half the crowd didnt really know the song, only the fans from the good old days really appreciated it. My favorete part of the song is: "You never knew why you felt so good In the strangest of places Like in waiting rooms and long lines that made you late Or mall parking lots on holidays" |
Rilo Kiley – Paint's Peeling Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Definately in my top 3 favorite Rilo Kiley songs. It makes me feel kind of sad and depressed . . . but in a good way. :) I don't even know if that makes any sense whatsoever. "And I feel nothing, not sane It's a hard day for dreaming again" |
Rilo Kiley – The Frug Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i can tell you she's real pretty |
Rilo Kiley – Gravity Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree. I think gravity is karma. Or the harsh consequences of your actions. |
Rilo Kiley – 15 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Ok, i am a MAJOR Rk fan. But this song just irritates me. |
Rilo Kiley – Plane Crash in C Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"Like letting it go, saying, 'Please, forgive me For laughing at your jokes'" I love this line. I think it's like when your in a fight with someone you love, and you just want the fight to end so you say your sorry and "please forgive me" even if it's something stupid like "laughing at your jokes" |
Rilo Kiley – Portions for Foxes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Portions for foxes is mentioned in the bible - in psalms I believe. And i think it's talking about how once a wicked person is judged by God and killed, all that's left is the Portions for Foxes. Maybe these guys are just trouble and she is saying when all is said and done they'll be nothing but Portions for Foxes. |
Rilo Kiley – Close Call Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I know how you feel. I bought the execution of all things when it came out, and I have loved RK ever since. This album is definately more mainstream. I miss the old folky and quirky Rilo Kiley. It's like someone at Warner Bros. told them "Here's how you make a top 40 album . . . " and they did it. But it is good. And Jenny's insanely talented way of writing is shown through even on this album. With the exeption of Silver Lining, i was as well disappointed. But i guess you just have to appreciate it for what it is. I still love Rilo Kiley forever!!! |
Rilo Kiley – Close Call Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree. and possibly always worrying about getting caught (theives and whores) |
Rilo Kiley – Variations on a Theme (Plane Crash in C) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This little tune makes me happy. :) |
Rilo Kiley – Hail to Whatever You Found in the Sunlight That Surrounds You Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I hate you. This song is awesome. |
Rilo Kiley – Emotional (Until Crickets Guide You Back) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I also agree with XianSnake. If you listen to Born Secular, or Dejalo, or the Absence of God, this one ties right in with those songs. It's about her struggle with how she was raised - without God, only caring about secular pursuits - and how she sometimes feels now, that there is a God and having faith in him. |
Jenny Lewis – Born Secular Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is so brave to me because usually artists leave religion alone. It's kind of a touchy subject. But I love how she says "Who knows where he is not? Not in me" It reminds me of a line on the more adventurous album: "The absence of God will bring you comfort baby." It's like she's afraid to face God, maybe afraid of being judged by him, and there's comfort in thinking he doesn't exist. But I definately agree with linnaeuslurie. |
Jenny Lewis – Paradise Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I love how she ends each verse. "The exit from debt could be the entrance Into paradise" "The exit from loneliness is not necessarily The entrance into paradise Into paradise" "The exit from loneliness Could be the entrance into paradise Into paradise" I think this song is about thinking "if only I could fix this I would be happy." Like if only I could get my debts paid, life would be easy. Or if only I could meet someone to love, and not be lonely, I'd be happy. Sometimes It's true, but sometimes that's not necessarily the "entrance into Paradise" |
Jenny Lewis – It Wasn't Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I might be crazy, but this song makes me think of good ol' Bill Clinton. Despite the good he did "it'll take a lifetime to clear your name" and also "it's your little red wagon and you've gotta pull it" obviously refers to taking responsibility, enduring humiliation, and not expecting someone else to bail you out of your mistakes. |
Jenny Lewis – It Wasn't Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I disagree completely. She is not as good a singer/songwriter as anyone else in popular music, she is way above most popular music. Her voice is pristine. Her lyrics make you feel like she wrote the song for you. She is AMAZING. |
Jenny Lewis – The Charging Sky Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think when she says "It's not that I believe in your all might" she's talking to God. Like maybe she doesn't necessarily believe he's almighty, but just in case He is, she's going to pray. |
Jenny Lewis – The Charging Sky Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I thought the exact same thing! |
Jenny Lewis – Rabbit Fur Coat Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"But mostly I'm a hypocrite I sing songs about the deficit But when I sell out and leave Omaha What will I get? A mansion house and a rabbit fur coat" I think this is talking about how they where once on Saddle Creek in Omaha, and now she is on Warner Bros. - she's becoming more mainstream. Moneymaker is now in a Carl's Jr. commercial. So as much as she has judged her mother for striving for fame and fortune, she picked up right where her mother left off. It is one of the most honest and beautiful songs I've ever heard. I love it. |
Band of Horses – The Funeral Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think its possibly about a drug addict. Maybe a family member or friend has this problem. While they love the person, its hard to know them because of the pain they cause. "Coming up only to show you wrong" may mean they are coming to visit after a near death experience, they have come to show they still care. But they're always ready for the funeral because its too late to save the person. |
