Sufjan Stevens – Casimir Pulaski Day Lyrics 14 years ago
I think you're right too. As far as the "takes" thing goes, I also think about how God can take all of our anger and frustration. This is a song about loss and feeling like a prayer wasn't answered - the person's anger and maybe even rebellion is not too much for God to leave Him, because He just takes it, takes it, takes it.

Bob Dylan – Don't Think Twice, It's All Right Lyrics 14 years ago
People keep saying they think it's about lost love. I don't see that. I always thought of it as the male being indifferent to the female. She wanted more but he just wasn't interested and/or he was bored. So he basically pushed her out the door. Hence the "you just kinda wasted my precious time" and that they didn't have much to say anyway. He wasn't in love to begin with and now he's just done with the relaitonship.

Misty Edwards – Baptize My Heart Lyrics 14 years ago
These are the full lyrics for the song

I can hear the song
Of the Creator as He sings over His creation:

I played the flute
Did you dance?
I sang the wedding song over you
Were you romanced?
I played the funeral song
Did you lament?
I told you My judgments were in the land
But did, did you repent?
For even children
Know when to dance!
And even children know
When to lament

I played the flute for you
Did you dance?
I sang the wedding song over you
Were you romanced?
I played the funeral song
Did you lament?
I told you My judgments on the land
But did you repent?
Repent, did you repent?
For even children
Know when to dance!
And even children know
When to lament

What should I like to do this generation
My children in the market place
We sing of the Flame
The only safe place is in You

Baptize my heart with Your fire, desire, Jesus
I don't want to be offended, no
I don't want to be offended
I don't want to be offended
When it's all coming down

I wanna be for You
Not against You
I wanna be with You where You are

I pledge my allegiance to Jesus, to Jesus
I pledge my allegiance to the Lamb

When the nations are rising against You
The nations
I wanna be where You are
Sweet with the wicket
I wanna be where You are
-the only safe place-

Baptize my heart with Your fire,
Desire, Jesus

I don't want to be offended, no
I don't want to be offended
I don't want to be offended
When it's all coming down

I pledge my allegiance to Jesus, to Jesus
I pledge my allegiance to the Lamb

We played the flute ...
You did not dance
We played the funeral song ...
You did not lament

Oh God…
Teach me how to dance...
How to lament…
Show me what You are looking for
What kind of response You're asking of me
Oh oh

Baptize my heart with Your fire, desire, come on

I don't want to be offended, no
I don't want to be offended
I don't want to be offended
When it's all coming down
Baptize my heart with Your fire, desire, Jesus

I don't want to be offended, no
I don't want to be offended
I don't want to be offended
When it's all coming down

Once again You are going to shake everything that can be shaken
Jesus desire of the nations
The only, only safe place is in the center

I pledge my allegiance to Jesus, to Jesus
I pledge my allegiance to the Lamb

From the son of David
To the Jewish carpenter from Nazareth
When it is all coming down
When the nations are rising against Him
Humm I pledge my allegiance to Jesus Christ of Nazareth
The Jewish King
The Son of David
The Slave Lamb
Alpha I Know that He is the Magnificent obsession
And He is the desire of the nations
To Turn it all around
Its just a matter of time . . .
I am going to choose this day to love Him, to serve Him
I am going to choose this day to clean the hills…….alone
I pledge my allegiance to Jesus, to Jesus
I pledge my allegiance to the Lamb
Is all coming down…

Once again You can shake everything that can be shaken
Oh Righteous Judge of the nations
Beautiful Bridegroom
Lover of my soul
Do what you have to do
Just come
Come to make the wrong things right
Come to turn the darkness light
Turn the world upside down, ‘cause
There is no peace until You come back

Jesus until You return
Return, return, return,
Return, return, return
Jesus please come back
Creation is groaing and waiting, waiting and groaing, groaing and waiting,
Waiting and groaning, groaning and waiting
For your return
You are the only Man of Peace
That we want
You are the only King that we cry to come again
…Return …Jesus come
…Come again Jesus…

Hillsong – Healer Lyrics 14 years ago
Nothing can stop God and He can do anything! And what's wonderful is that He doesn't always perform those miracles. He gives and takes away and THAT is where the glory can be found.

Misty Edwards – Garden Lyrics 14 years ago
I love the beginning when she is speaking:

I am a garden enclosed, a locked garden.
A fountain sealed.
I am Your resting place
I am Your resting place
Here alone have I prepared a place for You to dwell
Here in the resevoir of me
That You would dwell in my heart
That I would be in You and You would be in me
I can fellowship with God here where it's You and me alone
The very glory of God here inside of me
I want to fellowship with You

I am Your resting place
Where You said that You would be in me
That I would abide
Christ in me, the hope of my glory

Such a wonderful song! I love the notion that we can create a resting place for God in our hearts - where we can be in fellowship with Him and our relationship can be just between Him and ourself. Fellowship with others is important, but our fellowship with God is what it's all about!

Jason Upton – When You Were A Child Lyrics 14 years ago
"I want to know that child again"... wow. I love the song First Language when he says "I love you Daddy". It's just so awesome how he continues with the theme that God wants to be our father, our dad and our comfort. He wants His children to love Him with the trust of a child.

I have the live version of this song when he tells the tornado to stop in Jesus' name. SOOOO AMAZING!

"What God has joined together let no one separate it" Matthew 19:6. God has put us together and let no one and nothing separate us.

Jason Upton – Great river road Lyrics 14 years ago
I read about this song - it is his testimony. This song always reminds me of the children who were never born because their mothers were too scared to have them. He "was spared by a mother's dream". Had she gone the way of fear we wouldn't have this awesome music!

John Mark McMillan – Reckoning Day Lyrics 14 years ago
Reckoning day! Jesus is coming back and He will be FIERCE! I love the imagery of the lions in the street turning their heads - I think of all the demons among us who won't even know the fury they're about to face.

I hope that people know about their Savior before this day comes...

"Wings on their tears"

I heard that and immediately thought of Isaiah 40:31 - look it up, good stuff!

What a beautiful song. Every time I hear about it I think of all my awesome brothers and sisters in Christ that I know (and that I have yet to meet) and the day when we get to see our beautiful Lord. It's going to be amazing : )

John Mark McMillan – Death in His Grave Lyrics 14 years ago
I know I love it too. I want every one of my friends to hear it!

I love this song too - but I wonder if John Mark chose to use "on friday a thief, on sunday a king" for the purpose of rhyming or if Jesus was actually accused of being a thief. I can't find anything in the Bible about it. But I love those lines!

Bebo Norman – Deeper Still Lyrics 15 years ago
This is such an amazing song.
There is so much to it, but I think it's about a woman who spent her life in a destructive relationship that she let ruin her life. She worshiped the man she was with and he never got what he needed from her so he became abusive (either verbally or physically). He was her sun. She in turn never felt like she was good enough for him and she just dried up. Unknowingly, she blamed God, she blamed others, and she blamed herself for all that was wrong in her life. She became cold to the world around her and she didn't even know it.
Now that she knows God, she is ashamed with what she let happen in her relationship and she is reconciling with what he let her do and what she did to herself. It had affected her so deeply that she had let the "tragedy" of that relationship rule her life without even being aware of its destruction. When she is redeemed by the Lord she is overwhelmed and any bit of cold heartedness she had is gone. She is healed and overwhelmed with the real love that she gets from the Lord.

I know 2 women right now who really need the Lord, he would heal their entire lives if they let him. Their respective marriages are failing and it's so hard to watch. I wish they could hear this song and know that only hearbreak is ahead if they continue to go it alone.

Bebo Norman – Perhaps She'll Wait Lyrics 15 years ago
Yeah I wonder...

I haven't actually heard it either but I try to tell myself that Christian men can be understanding of a woman who didn't wait, but has renewed her faith in the Lord and become pure again in His eyes. I understand the importance of waiting and how it would be more desirable, obviously, but what does Christ want from us but for us to forgive others?

Just something to throw out there

Ray LaMontagne – You Can Bring Me Flowers Lyrics 15 years ago
I never got the civil war vibe. Just a guy bitter and retaliating against the woman who cheated. He's letting her know what it's done and that someday she will regret it. She won't be able to do anything about it until he's dead and gone. Flowers would be a sign of apology but he doesn't want one- it's over for him!

I can't help but tap (at least) when I hear this song, such an awesome beat!

Ray LaMontagne – Winter Birds Lyrics 15 years ago
I think it's about enjoying nature. Yes maybe there is a deeper meaning - but read the words. This is the simple life at its best! Ray actually lives in a farm house in Maine with his wife and kids, maybe he was writing this down as they sat in their warm house during winter. Maybe he heard the birds as snow started to melt and the stream tried to contain the melting snow.

I want that kind of life; an old cow and mule, a house that provides a nice hiding place for a fox and the amazing sound of birds greeting each other.

Anyway - amazing song, totally goes well with a fireplace and snow outside.

Ray LaMontagne – Lesson Learned Lyrics 15 years ago
Someone might have already said this but...

I get the impression that this was a relationship in which he was beat down by the woman. She was pessimistic, untrusting and treated him like less than. He was "framed" because she was constantly accusing him of wrongdoing or giving subtle hints that she didn't fully trust him and she pushed him so hard that he eventualy did betray her. Had she just trusted him he might not have felt compelled to find love and attention elsewhere.

Chris Tomlin – Your Grace is Enough Lyrics 15 years ago
and calling it pitiful is definitely the way to go about it ; )

God speaks to all of us in different ways - pop music is just one way for believers to feel encouragement, but it's certainly not a requirement.

Chris Tomlin – God Of This City Lyrics 15 years ago
This song has been such a blessing. I volunteer at the humane society and sometimes I feel so disheartened by the animal situation throughout the world (and so many other horrible things happening). On the day I was at one of my lowest points, I heard this song on the radio. God is still working miracles in His city and pulling strings in our heart to let Him work in us and bring light to the darkness.

This song is a prayer and heartfelt worship to God! So amazing! Still so much to be done before we are in His kingdom!

Has anyone else noticed that there is dialogue in the backround? It's very faint and I've listened to the song probably 30 times. This was the first time I noticed it. Try it with headphones on. If anyone else hears it and/or recognizes it let me know... I don't like thinking I might be crazy...

U2 – Sweetest Thing Lyrics 15 years ago
Okay - so I don't think that all of this song is about her not loving him as much as he loves her. When I first heard it I thought about a woman who makes a man work for her love. She makes him crawl before running, letting their relationship mature and deepen before going head over heels and keeping him together (catching him when he falls, etc).

A good love requires hard work and can be stormy - it survives the rain and the thunder but the pair see the blue skies up ahead. The man in this song is definitely the weaker of the 2, but the woman encourages him to strengthen himself. I really like it!

Just my opinion...
