A really nice tune by Chad VanGaalen! I read it as letting one's spirit drift away, in a warm room, walking in the streets of your city or, as suggested by the song, around the firecamp. This very firecamp enhance the narrator's capacity to introspect, remember situations. But, this remembrance can sometimes be hazardous, as the narrator fears to confront his own demons. Instead, he'd better dissolve into the nothingness of the moment, the unity with the universe and the communion with his mates around the fire. Somehow a very philosophical song, in a buddhist kind of way. Yet keeping the human behavior in mind makes it like the narrator is not better nor worse than every one else. |

"I guess I’ll go and tell you just as soon as I get to the end of this song". Actually, this is a never-ending song with no specific beginning nor ending. And so are his lies to the girl he's talking to. And "It was noon, now my shadow’s long". Another lie as noon is the only moment of the day where sun is at its highest point in the sky, thus anyone standing under it will never have a "long shadow". To me this sounds as an echo to "Sun's coming down", when he finally stop lying. |

The little number 13 in the right bottom corner is just the leftovers of the original cover, which showed all the songs with their track number... Nothing to do with the big 5,6 and 7 Still, I don't know why they choosed to put it here? And the cover obviously describes this song , the monkey with the halo, the numbers (but the goemetrical figure?) |
