While that is true I'm sure they have taken psychedelics. I'm not sure if you have but I have had beautiful trips on psilocybin mushrooms with my best friends. It doesn't seem right to call psychedelics drugs, although they are. They feel so much more natural and organic, especially when eating mushrooms, the dried shrooms are still living and you feel there presence when you eat them and they force you to look into youself to see who you really are. A lot of times people don't like what they find and they try to avoid dealing with the flaws they see but this causes bad trips. It also causes you to really think about what is happening in the world. My first time doing shrooms in nature broke my heart in a way.I realized how much better life would be if we didn't make it so complicated and if we just lived in nature living off of plants and everybody living peacefully doing whatever they want. MGMT obviously produces psychedelic music which could influence some people to try psychedelic drugs. But for the good of the planet and other animals other than the seemingly more important human animal this could be a good thing. |

Nice story and everything, but I have to mention something that pisses me off. You say "He was a spoiled middle class white boy that somehow thought heroin was cool." That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. your friend didn't think heroin is "cool"(wtf?) He probably shot up one day and got fucking high as hell and loved it. It doesn't mean he thought it was cool to jab needles in his arms. Noobs need to fuck off thinking anyone uses drugs to be "cool". People like that are dragging this piece of shit society even farther down. |

LSD is a psychedelic drug, methamphetamine is an upper/stimulant. And he stated that you can't write songs on coke or LSD. Most of his writing is when he's stoned. But a lot of his songs are obviously influenced by his LSD trips. |

Well what do you mean by fucked up? IMO the only drug that "fucks you up" is alcohol because it poisons your brain and body. Other drugs (mostly psychedelics) open your mind and allow you to perceive more of everything. This can create amazing enlightening experiences especially when combined with amazing music such as modest mouse. I know from experience that Modest Mouse is MUCH MUCH MUCH better while on amazing drugs such as weed or shrooms or MDMA. Stop whatever stupid drugs you do and do some real drugs like weed shrooms lsd mdma dmt and so on. And for all you uneducated people who are going to say "drugs are bad and stupid why would anybody ever do them", grow up. Drugs grow straight out of the earth and have an effect on human consciousness so obviously we are supposed to use them. You just have to have a little bit of self control. |

| haha I can see from your posts that you have never tried LSD so you can't say anything about it. You don't childish thoughts then on LSD. Your brain has sensory and thought filters. LSD takes these filters down allowing you to sense more of what is actually there and allowing you to think on much greater scale. I strongly reccomend you try shrooms or LSD or any psychedelic, especially if you think you can get to the same place sober (which is impossible because of filters.) | |

It sucks for you that you obviously don't take psychedelics and cannot see the true magic of MGMT. Its a funny trend I have been noticing. Usually the people who don't take psychedelics don't like mgmt and think they suck while the ones who do have been to the same place/state of mind as mgmt and can fully understand the music. Just like psychedelics aren't for everyone neither is psychedelic music. I've been to places you can't even begin to imagine. The members of MGMT have been there too and they try to express this through there music. If you've never been there then you cannot understand the message so you're ego covers it up by making you hat the band.\ Eat some shrooms or LSD or any psychedelic, there good for you're brain!!
