I think Damon Albarn was smoking a lot of dope after Blur disbanded (note, I don't think this was a bad thing) and I'm pretty sure he still smokes dope. I also think Damon Albarn likes writing lyrics that have several layers of possible meaning.
Re-Hash is, in my opinion, a commentary on both drug use and mainstream celebrity culture. The term re-hash implies re-stocking on the drug, but also reflects a popular culture that is heavily weighted by shows like x-Factor and American Idol, where people perform well known songs in hopes of getting famous and wealthy. |
