Florence + the Machine – Blinding Lyrics | 13 years ago |
When she first started performing this I'm sure she said it was about her dead grandmother. |
Florence + the Machine – Heavy in Your Arms Lyrics | 14 years ago |
That's meant to say "whispering", obviously! sorry :) |
Florence + the Machine – Heavy in Your Arms Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Just a small nitpick; isn't it "whis[ering my guilty secret"? does anyone else hear that or is it just me? :) |
Florence + the Machine – Don't Tell Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
... it's a demo version. |
Florence + the Machine – Swimming Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Yep, that's another demo version. This is the more uptempo version that's usually called "Swimming Song". Now there's another new, Lungs-y version that you can buy off of iTunes! to add to the confusion, lol. |
Florence + the Machine – Blinding Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Florence + the Machine – Blinding Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Thanks for your help guys, working from live versions is a pain in the arse! But as for the middle section, even on the album version I'm unclear what she says, so I'm sticking to the 'circuitboards' lines hahaha. |
Florence + the Machine – Ghosts Lyrics | 15 years ago |
...huh? Your version is Don't Tell Me, which is basically a demo for this. It's discussed in the comments for Don't Tell Me. x |

Florence + the Machine – Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Here are the right lyrics: The looking glass, so shiny and new How quickly the glamour fades I start spinning, slipping out of time Was that the wrong pill to take? (Raise it up) You made a deal, and now it seems you have to offer up But will it ever be enough? (Raise it up, raise it up) It's not enough (Raise it up, raise it up) Here I am, a rabbit hearted girl Frozen in the headlights It seems I've made the final sacrifice We raise it up, this offering We raise it up This is a gift, it comes with a price Who is the lamb and who is the knife? Midas is king and he holds me so tight And turns me to gold in the sunlight I look around, but I can't find you (raise it up) If only I could see your face (raise it up) Instead of rushing towards the skyline (raise it up) I wish that I could just be brave I must become a lion hearted girl Ready for a fight Before I make the final sacrifice We raise it up, this offering We raise it up This is a gift, it comes with a price Who is the lamb and who is the knife? Midas is king and he holds me so tight And turns me to gold in the sunlight Raise it up, raise it up Raise it up, raise it up And in the spring I shed my skin And it blows away with the changing wind The waters turn from blue to red As towards the sky I offer it This is a gift, it comes with a price Who is the lamb and who is the knife? Midas is king and he holds me so tight And turns me to gold in the sunlight This is a gift, it comes with a price Who is the lamb and who is the knife? Midas is king and he holds me so tight And turns me to gold in the sunlight This is a gift, it comes with a price Who is the lamb and who is the knife? Midas is king and he holds me so tight And turns me to gold in the sunlight This is a gift |
Florence + the Machine – Ghosts Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"I'm not calling you a liar, just don't lie to me/I'm not calling you a thief, just don't steal from me..." - She doesn't care what her lover has done, just as long as he doesn't do them to her, and she doesn't want to know; listen to the original version of this, Don't Tell Me, "Don't tell me what you've done." Pretty obvious really. "I'm not calling you a ghost, just stop haunting me" - The 'haunting' says to me that she can't get away from him, whether it's his intentions or her not being able to let go. "There's a ghost in my lung and it sighs in my sleep..." - He is controlling her (again, whether it is his intention or hers isn't clear), and whatever her does leads her to fall at his feet. "There but for the grace of God go I" - This is a common phrase that basically means that somebody elses misfortunes could've just as easily happened to you |
Florence + the Machine – Don't Tell Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think this version is the original (which is on YouTube, type it in and it's over some anime video or PM me), and it's evolved into the 'Ghosts' version. Either way, I love this song. |
Franz Ferdinand – Katherine Kiss Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I FECKIN' LOVE THIS SONG! Hence my username. And I always thought that it said "jacket in the sodium light", cos then it would link in with all the other mentions of Katherine's leather jacket earlier on in the song. |
Lily Allen – Cheryl Tweedy Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Okay, you guys must not have heard the regular version of this song. You've probably heard it on the mixtape cos that "felt that I was in a long, dark tunnel" and all the "31 seconds" sounds you hear throughout the last half of this song are actually from 'Valley of the Shadows', which is the song Cheryl Tweedy mixes into. And I always thought it was "fall to the flooring", meaning she passes out every weekend due to drinking too much? |
