Stornoway – November Song Lyrics 13 years ago
it sounds like either his mother passed or is dying. I thought passed because of the lyric "a light in the hallway left on by an angel," but it could go either way.

the point of the song is that, regardless of the hardships that will be coming along, he knows he at least still has someone who will love him and be there for him.

Stornoway – unfaithful Lyrics 13 years ago
just one correction that I think is important:

"wish you could have lied last night"

important because it just shows that the honest news he got was so bad that he wished she didn't tell him she had cheated or admitted to it (it isn't specified in the song).

meaning wise, it's pretty self explanatory.

Stornoway – We Are The Battery Human Lyrics 13 years ago
from the horse's mouth:

Brian: In Britain, battery hens is the name for caged hens, so what it means is that we are the caged human. And this is about how we need to get outside more.

Ben Folds – Brainwashed Lyrics 13 years ago
Choirchick22, these are the lyrics for the fake album version. Ben Folds had a friend "leak" album tracks, but they were just recordings from one session he did with the band one night and not the actual album tracks.

Matt Nathanson – Lucky Boy Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this is a friendship where the guy wants more than the girl, but she doesn't see him that way. he's there for her and always her shoulder to cry on, and he finds it cruel that it'll always be this way. regardless, he feels lucky to have the friendship that they have.

Oren Lavie – Her Morning Elegance Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm going to partly go with Ximena here.

I'm reading this song as a woman who fights to grasp reality. she fights to stay in it, because she rather daydream or sleep.

she's just a dreamer - I think that's the whole point. whether it's caused by an illness, or depression, of anxiety or anything else - she just prefers to dream to pass the time.

"she fights for her life" to stay awake in the real world, as opposed to dreaming or daydreaming. the "sun's been down for days," because she's been busy sleeping, or at least not existing in that way where she's alert.

all the events seem to lull her back into daydreams. the water seems to slip her easily into this state, both when she's preparing her coffee/tea (whichever it is describing) or when it's raining. she falls back into that state, and no one knows she's daydreaming, only herself. she's the only one who knows she's struggling here to stop dreaming.
