Kate Nash – Skeleton Song Lyrics 15 years ago
I think it's about a girl who was very awkward, didn't have friends when she was a child,
I think now that she's a grown woman, she has tried to get over it, but instead has covered it up. She knows it's still who she is inside.
And in the end, she accepts it.

I don't know man, Kate Nash's songs call for simple explanations from me - her lyrics are always clear (my interpretation, anyway).

Kate Nash – Little Red Lyrics 15 years ago
I fell in love with this song! I prefer the slower version over the other (has anyone else heard both? it took me forever to find the slower one).
To me this song is about a girl who's different - it's as simple as that.
She doesn't fit in, although she tries really hard.. and then this great love comes along and he accepts who she is, and they're different together. She finally found her place.

Soo beautiful! My favourite Kate Nash song.

Regina Spektor – The Call Lyrics 15 years ago
I loved the song before Narnia, but I watched it today and just read that it was written specifically for the movie. "Now we're back to the beginning", they're fighting a war for Narnia once again, "But just because they can't feel it too, Doesn't mean that you have to forget" basically sums up the whole series.. They knew that Narnia existed, but had to be normal people when faced with their London "reality". It's really upsetting that Suson and Peter can't return to Narnia in the future, Suson even more so because there was such a great chemistry between her and Prince Caspian. So basically, every line that says something like, "You'll come back when they call you, no need to say goodbye" is for Edmund and Lucy, who will later return to continue ruling Narnia. I guess if Caspian really wanted to see Suson again, Aslan could open a portal to the "real" world. After all, he is now a King of Narnia, and the horn will call him back.

This song is still so beautiful, even without the "Narnian" reasoning behind it.

Regina Spektor – Samson Lyrics 15 years ago
This reminds me of a friend who was diagnosed with cancer.
When I met him, his hair was long and shiny, and upon being diagnosed he cut his hair knowing it would fall out anyway, and donated it to a cancer survivor who had lost her hair through treatment. Despite the unsuccessful treatments, his hair fell out. He was pretty much bed ridden until he died. "We couldn't break the columns down, No, we couldn't destroy a single one" makes me think of how it ended, when the cancer won, and we could do nothing.

I'm sure that's not the real meaning of the words, but it tells his story to me.

Regina Spektor – Better Lyrics 15 years ago
The line that relly speaks to me is,
"If you never say your name out loud to anyone, they can never ever call you by it"
To me it says, if you don't share your weaknesses with anyone, no one can hold them against you.

This song got me hooked. I completely agree with venus in mohairs first interpretation. I don't think she's still in love though, as her friends wouldn't have to tell her that it's going to get better. I don't think she's upset about it though, I think she's happy she gave her all and had the experience of falling deeply in love.

Regina Spektor – Happy Hooker Lyrics 15 years ago
I love the live version of this song. Regina is so amazing.
Anyway, obviously she's a hooker, and it implies a musician as well. She sees the man she's staring at as perfect, "nothing wrong".
I think, "I go home so broke and lonely, But now I got in my pockets all these rhyming words and more words and more words" means that she's not getting much out of whoring herself, but she has her music and her lyrics still. She doesn't feel ashamed that she sells her body for money, it's just a way to get by. She's a free spirit and doesn't think "wasting" life is a possibility. No matter what you're doing, life is passing anyway.

Usher – You Got It Bad Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song is about someone who didn't believe in love, just messed around with girls and had a few dates. Until he found this one girl, he was into materialistic things, which he is now more than willing to give up for her love. I think what he feels for her is an obsessive kind of love. The, "hang up and you call right back" line makes me think of insecurity - You know - when you get mad over something stupid, and you know it's stupid, and you hang up, hoping he'll call back. But he doesn't so you do, and apologize. And you spend all your time with him, lose all your friends as he's the "most important thing in your life", and you don't want to go out cause you can't have fun without him.. You'd rather sit at home and think about him, and wallow.

And it definitely doesn't say "fucked" around, it says humped around. Which would make more sense anyway - he fucks everything he sees until he meets her, and he stops slutting up cause he just wants to be with her.
