Depeche Mode – Leave In Silence Lyrics

The meaning is really ambiguous if you take a look at each verse. But damn, this song is so danceable and has an amazing groove. |

Envy And Other Sins – Highness Lyrics

This song is addicting. Bittersweet tale of being infatuated with a girl who doesn't feel the same way about him so, he denies his true feelings of needing, wanting and even loving her. |

The Smiths – Meat Is Murder Lyrics
|
The animals will still be killed but only if people continue to influence the demand for the meat. If enough people reject meat, the meat industry does not make profit and will lose money if they continue at that point. Think about it, if no one eat meat what need is there to kill animals for food? |

Crystal Castles – Untrust Us Lyrics

Someone obviously forgot/doesn't know about the Prodigy. The fucking most hardcore punk Electronic act. I saw both acts yesterday and Keith Flint has more punk rock in his middle finger than Alice Glass any day of the week. Alice has a long way to go but she IS a fucking bad ass. |

Prince – Pink Cashmere Lyrics

It's very interesting to hear Prince write from this perspective. It reminds me of "When you Were Mine". The longing in this song isn't as desperate as it's depicted usually in songs. |

The Prodigy – Baby's Got A Temper Lyrics
|
This song is shit. Liam even said it was an "F'n piece of Shit". He was so fucking distraught about this disaster well aware things were going wrong and has gotten himself back on the right track, that he kicked out Maxim and Flint for the Never Outgunned album so he can go "back-to-the-core". That album failed too. I can't even imagine the pressure he had trying to follow up a fucking masterpiece like "Fat of the Land". He probably belted under that pressure and spit this mediocre crap. At least he got it right with all Maxim and Flint back in the fold on "Invaders must Die". Can't wait for Ultra! |

The Prodigy – Spitfire Lyrics

Amen. When he started talking about emo I thought this song was on a soundtrack with Dashboard Confessional, Paramore, Chisel, Jimmy Eat World, Fall Out Boy, etc. That would be strange. And yes, all nu-metal sucks. It's not music. |

The White Stripes – You've Got Her In Your Pocket Lyrics

This probably one of the darker White Stripes songs. Blurring the line between caring for someone and wanting to own them in the vulnerable light of Jack's whimpering voice and soft acoustic guitar. |

Prince – Christopher Tracy's Parade Lyrics

Am I the only who realizes how brilliantly psychedelic this song is? I can leave it on repeat and smile. Prince's involvement in the Neo-Psychedelia movement of the 80s is underrated. |

Lenny Kravitz – More Than Anything In This World Lyrics

Haunting song. I've rarely heard anything this menacing. The fact that no one comments on songs like these goes to show how Underappreciated this album was. When I went to see Lenny recently he couldn't stay off tracks from Mama Said. |

Lenny Kravitz – Fly Away Lyrics

Lenny said he wrote this song while he was in a car, on a napkin in 20 minutes. It goes to show how brilliance sometimes strikes at random and isn't always contrived. |

It's track 5 on "Coquelicot Asleep in the Poppies: A Variety of Whimsical Verse" from 2001, which is currently out of print. You can still buy it used on Amazon or digitally on iTunes. Watch out, some vendors are charging a small fortune for it, there are some available for under $10. |

Panda Bear – Untitled 05 Lyrics
|
Every song on "Young Prayer" works together. It's called a concept album [me being a smart ass]. These songs are all very Castillian in concept and tone [probably influenced by his Portuguese inhabitance]. It was recorded in his childhood home with a simple recording set-up. Throughout the album he only uses an acoustic guitar and an amorphous vocal lament to his father. I've never heard an album so purely introspective and beautifully personal like this. I know that sounds cliched but when you think about it, no one has ever created an album about death like this. It's almost like a ritual about the passge into death. This is true soul music. Raw and without ostentatious display. A mourning testament to the beauty of the human spirit. I fucking love Panda Bear. |

Falco – Der Kommissar Lyrics

This amazing 80s funk dance-pop gem is about drug use. If you dont speak German, it's hinted in the music video since he is humourously running away from a police car that is obviously a projected video. There is a better known, inferior english version by After the Fire.
R.I.P. Johann "Falco" Hölzel
Thank you for teaching me how to run from the police. |

Air – How Does It Make You Feel? Lyrics
|
I dont even see the song as being from the perspective of a robot. I see it like someone speaking with a mechanical larynx. This is especially clear to me when the female voice answers "Well, I really think you should quit smoking" as if he's speaking through the device because of cancer caused by cigarette smoking. A Little dark humour twist on behalf of Air perhaps to lighten the dark romantic mood of the song. This is what I thought it sounded like.

of Montreal – I Was Never Young Lyrics
|
What I gather from this song and several others that touch on subject of age is that Kevin views himself as an ageless person. It can be seen as some kind of coping mechanism for aging. By declaring that you were never young you can never be acused of aging. He probably also feels like he's an old soul so, even when he was a child [or a boy] he felt wiser and rejected the concept [or reality for others] of age. He constanstanly proclaims ambiguity in other aspects of his existence. He claims to be genderless and have no race all the time. He even lok at of Montreal as not fitting in any category of music. I can definetely relate to the song and to most of the autobiographical stuff Kevin writes about. That's why I love him so much. |
