and the song isn't about when he's 8, it STARTED when he was. Which is far back in most people's memory, as long as he can remember he's always wanted that human contact. But that seems too simple for this song, this song is a masterpiece, I can't hope to dissect it at all. |

I've gotten much different vibes off this song than just "he wanted sex when he was 8", this song is the climax of probably their most emotional album, and is tied into several times from the rest of the album, from the main theme which we hear in chain sling, to the lyrical content of fandango "We will always be so much more human than we wish to be" I've never been able to figure it out completely, if at all. I've always felt it more desiring the warmth of another human to quell loneliness and distance. He's trying to fill the void with it, but it won't do it, there's no love, it's just desperate attempts to feel human contact. |

This song is definitely from the male character's perspective. In The Flesh is from the female's, though lyrically they feel related enough to think they're of the same person. |

I've always felt this was about a relationship. Kevin Moore, the lyricist, definitely had things going on, listen to album prior, with Light Fuse and Get Away, and then the next, with Space Dye Vest. All the lyrics in my head point to it, denying that she's gone. And then at the end, coming to terms. This little bit hits hardest to the meaning. "It's been a long, long time He's had awhile to think it over In the end he only sees the change Light to dark Dark to light Light to dark Dark to light" |

I get what you're coming from, but especially if you listen to the instrumental version of this you hear a lot more. It was an emotional song that came from pretty deep :3 it wasn't just written to be a radio single. Watch the music video too. |

I know this isn't the real meaning, but when I hear this song, I think of two lovers, where the lady is dying, and he pleads for her to end somewhere safe, not lost. I think the real meaning... Well, then again... That's tough :| it's just plain beautiful, I can't focus enough on the meaning most of the time, I'm too entranced by its beauty. |

I know it's not about love, but I always think of a broken relationship when I hear this... The ending kind of feels like the voice in your head type of thing. "I never thought you'd let it get this far boy". I wish Skid Row wrote more ballads... Quicksand Jesus, this, and In A Darkened Room are probably my favorites, Bach's vocals make any song amazing. |
