Reba McEntire – Fancy Lyrics 15 years ago
In a few ways, this song is positive. It's a song about survival and determination. It may not be the prettiest subject, but it's about strength.

Reba's video of this song does have a very positive feel. It begins with her in a taxi being driven back to the shack she grew up in, and the song begins. Reba's all done up, big red hair jewelry and a big expensive coat. As the song ends you see her driven away in that same cab and you see a sign that says, "Future site of the Fancy home for wayward girls," or something like that.

In concert Reba really did this song up well. A taxi cab would come up on stage and she'd get out of it hair up all wrapped in a big coat and heels. Just after the lyrics "I charmed a king, a congressman....and I ain't done bad," she throws off the coat to reveal a snug little red dress and lets her long red hair down and struts through the rest of the song. It would bring down the house.

Genesis – Home By The Sea Lyrics 15 years ago
I've always liked this song and have been listening to it recently. Before reading any of the posts here, I imagined the lyrics being the desperate cry of someone in an upscale very controlled home for the elderly. Welcome to your home by the sea. "Sit down" can refer to new residents. Sit down, you'll be here for the rest of your days. Perhaps it can also refer to visitors to whom residents tell their stories, reliving, or perhaps rewriting their lives. The opening lyrics could be the experience of walking through what perhaps a resident might feel is a prison, their home, but not quite. A group home, single without family but strangers. It has a very disturbing feel, yet it draws you in, much like the mystery of the sea.
