I actually think it's about Limp Bizkit, or Fred Durst in particular. Hear me out... Of course, they let fame get to them (at least Fred did), and once nu-metal started to die out and people were beginning to tire of Durst, it dragged them even further down the gutter. Also take into account that this song was written around the same time as LB's popularity began to decline, and Dursts antics during that period were unintentionally hilarious ("no lights, but quite the show"). It seems like Davey is celebrating their downfall, if the lyrics here are any indication. |

The name 'punk' has been dragged through the fucking mud thanks to fakers like Green Day, Plain White T's, and Fall Out Boy. Hearing somebody call those bands punk rock and listening to those same kids piss on the real deal rubs a lot of people the wrong way, including me. Listen to a Sex Pistols or Meatmen album and then listen to American Idiot. Then compare nom de plumes like Johnny Rotten to Tre Cool. That should tell you everything you need to know about the difference. The only one of those bands that ever made good music is Green Day (and this was back in the early/mid 90s), but it ain't punk. | |
