Song is not about suicide.. this song became personal to me during a rough time in life and i must say (subjectively) i feel it's about a relationship. the first verse is well enough, he was "let go" and keeps trying to refuse to look back. You say you're gunna go a million times in a relationship, verbally, personally, but i think this is to himself. Love is a thing that cannot be easily let go, so he's gunna have to blow his own mind, doing something he feels is impossible, but he's determined and will not cry wolf - won't look back or try again for that situation. The one i trusted sold me - right there, i'd say that he was hurt. Let go, lost, betrayed, deemed unworthy, in an illusion if you will. and the bridge - "I figured out I�m holding onto time And I can�t let go I�m hiding, I�m needy, on the inside I�m bleeding I�m searching for something but Can�t seem to find me On the surface is someone who pretends to focus I�m waiting and wanting to cut this and go on Trying to live when the pain can all be gone Then fall into confusion (correction)* The voice in my head leading me here back home" He's holding on to the past, "what was".. "what has been".. "What isn't any longer".. Inside he's hurting and trying to find closure and enough reason to let go and go on. He's looking for so much that he somehow loses himself, he's destroying himself. He is waiting for something to happen, another girl, the strength, etc., he wants to move on. But the voice in his head, her, is deceiving him and calling him back every time he tries to let go. My take, Wonderful song. |

I think everyone get's the picture from most of the song, love that was once colorful and complete has lost it's power - color. She puts down the fact that it still bothers her and how she may have handled things wrong, but ignores it. "Look before you, end it all. Look before you, shut your eyes. for the last time, there's no more room to go back down. I will show you what it's like... Let them say all that they want, I'll wipe away your painted wings, till your heroes come". I'd say that he's almost threatening her and mocking himself. You should always think twice about leaving something behind, letting something go, because it could possibly be the worst mistake you could ever make. And to look before you shut your eyes and turn your back, letting color fade from the world and love you have found in it. "What was" if you will, and what could be. He's saying he'll show her what love is, like noone else can. With everyone else saying she's popular or beautiful or anything prestigious in life, he's denying all those facts and simply putting her in the "average" category because now he knows what she really is, and i think he says "heroes" as in mocking what she failed to see in him but believes she can find better elsewhere. But, obviously, i think when she whispers in his ear, she's saying she knows what she is doing could be a mistake, and she's honestly saying she's still not over the fact as a whole but is doing what she feels is right. My favorite line is "Will you fight for me, and not back down?!" - that's the girl he wants, how she used to be, do anything for the survival of the love. But, I want to put deep significance on the solo.. From the first time i listened to this song, that beginning solo is so chill and calm and relaxing and surreal, that i just drove around backroads in the woods to get away and just let it come full circle. So soothing to the mind, and if you let it, it's very beneficial. To me, this solo signifies the story, and may possibly contain even more words than that sung in this song. The beginning is like they find the love and see more in eachother, something else, something special. Everything's going right, happiness, love, fulfillment, true sincere love. Maybe even a sexual-physical aspect too. "The eye of the storm", "The calm".. then out of nowhere, unexpectedly, chaos and destruction erupts. He's losing everything he ever knew and he's watching things disappear, he's hurting. It's an inner battle, and at the heavy part of the solo i think he's losing. He's being witness to what he never thought could happen. Then after Vlad's tremolo's, it sounds almost as if it were a battle, will you get up? will you fight it? can you do it? I picture someone hurt and destroyed, standing on one knee before a setting sun,looking off into the distance.. will you get up.. can you make the step, prove it to your self.. and i think the way it ends doesn't exactly clarify if he does stand, get up. Maybe i'm just weird, but i took the time and EB painted a very clear mental situation and picture through that solo. For the end, eh, it was what got skipped everytime i listened to it. it's too weird lol, but still worthy because it's still EB. |

| Matisyn is a tremendous song writer and I love how he makes every song very subjective. While believing it is how each song relates to each person that gives it it's meaning, I feel this song is everything there is to the falling apart/breaking up/fallout of a relationship. So many hints and lines that talk about love, lost love, etc., seems as though this song (even though songs can almost be called poems) is the most sincere and unique poem-type song ever. This song to me is the means of a relationship to which they fall in love, he falls harder, then she ends up leaving him for w/e she feels is of more worth. Hence, "You are the saddest sight i know" - he did everything right, he gave her everything, and she still sees it fit to find something "better". And throughout the song he describes how he still cares so much and he still hears her even though she's absent, and I think that shows a mental battle if you will, to get over something that deems you unworthy. And in a personal way, i'd agree that he told her that he always knew she'd do this to him, always knew she'd reach for something higher, possibly because of beauty or in light to what she can accomplish or simply foolishness. And to me the end is so disgusting, because (again, from subjective personal means) there can be a million goodbyes to anything that you leave/is left behind, but only one actually takes on the full meaning. Relationships, family, work, problems, past, etc., that's what makes it subjective. But i think he illustrates how that one goodbye that is (meaningful) is when the person honestly thinks, believes, and agrees that the truth is It's Gone.. no matter what from that point forward, it's a realization of facing the truth that w/e it may be is no longer existant. I completely agree with most of the replies on this song, about a girl leaving a guy and a relationship behind for whatever reason, whether it be a change such as highschool, college, another guy, etc. (another opportunity). The lyric content is so deep, the instrumentals are strongly unique and surreal, overall this probably on of my most favorite songs ever. I place strong emphasis on the last lne above all else, however. It is quite subjective, but i think moreless it is a subliminal message to everyone to discover themselves, and i put alot of time and effort into this thought. "chorus...Leave you nothing left to hold, when you're nothing it's a good time to, remind you of one thing. The Pursuit Begins When This Portrayal Of Life, Ends" This is what it means to me when a person realizes what is most important to him/her, and when they let go of all the fake and hurtful distractions in the world that are in essence of no value, they will become illuminated to reality, make a clear distinction between true feelings and values(worth) / and things in life that are worthless and fake, and grasp the feeling of authenticity; they truly begin life as it was intended.
