Death Cab for Cutie – Passenger Seat Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song, to me, never sounds like a child and parent. I also agree that it is trying to capture a feeling, not a scenario. Therefore, in my opinion, the car has nothing to do with the meaning, that is just an example of where the feeling may take you; ie. driving with your boyfriend/girlfriend/partner. I interpret the lyrics to convey the feeling of when you are IN love, not just loving someone. Therefore you can feel able to ask any question you want and be answered, or guide them and do everything you possibly can for them, for all time. |

ok, heres my two cents: when the planet mercury is in retrograde it means that the plant is actually receeding in its position in the orbit, weird to understand but anyways, basically means everything it is doing is pretty much going backwards. this relates to the meaning of the song by saying that the person whose point of view this song is from has met a girl, or guy for that manner, and it has thrown his or her universe into backspin. much like that of when mercury is suffering retrograde. I also agree with the reference to horoscopes, maybe to stay with the celestial themes. Actually, more than half of "Intimacy" is centred around mythology/celestial beings. |
Death Cab for Cutie – Title and Registration Lyrics | 15 years ago |
In my opinion, the actual concept of the song is quite simple, yet the more you delve the deeper it gets. Its obviously ABOUT someone, and I am not sure it could even be from the female's perspective, about breaking up and not quite being over them, as demonstrated by the discovery of the photos. However I believe that the song then shows you the rollercoaster and vastness of emotions they they are feeling. if u listen to the music and not just the lyrics, it starts of repetitively and slowly adds more, maybe like the range of emotions felt. |
Kings of Leon – Milk Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song comes out to me as though it is centred about his relationship with yes, as previously mentioned, a young probably teenage woman. Yes, woman not girl. I think this comes through most appropriately with the line/s: "She saw my comb over, her hourglass body she has problems with drinking milk" (ie. his combover therefore old or more professional, adult like. However shes a woman - hourglass body, but still young, milk intolerance etc etc). "salty leave" i agree is about him crying over her absence, and he tried to call but couldn't get through and later in the song, the woman's new man, replacement, picks up and lies about her whereabouts. This borderline may even be about a simple hookup that felt like love but he then realised she was too young, and now, he just wants his heart to die, not neccessarily him. theres my two cents |
