| Love this song, to me this reminds me of a girl I was with, I loved her deeply and thought she did too, 'cept she didn't, she led me to believe that and after we split she said she was hurt and couldn't turn her feelings off for me, but I never saw it, she never seemed bothered by the fact we were over. The anguish in the song really reminds me of how upset I felt after I saw how things were really going, I just wanted her to cry over me for once so it didn't seem those months were a waste and a lie. | |

Wow, no comments on this song yet? Anyway, I think it refers to splitting up with someone you deeply love, but who equally hurt you. You so long to be with them because you love them; "The anchors in my heart Cannot be for nothing" "It seems I break All my fragile dreams When I call The angels back to me" makes me think about being hurt in the relationship. On the other hand that could be interpreted as all the pain only came after splitting up. The anchors makes me think it was his choice of splitting up, breaking all the dreams makes me think of rejection, maybe when he realises how much he truely loved his "angel" but couldn't get back together? |

| I agree thats its about love lost, but I think theres some references to vampires too, based on the fact it was from "Vampire: The Masquerade" originally. I guess the "So grey she rises to the world" and "Through the day, I watch her sleeping" is about as strong as the references get though. | |

I feel this is a reference to Odysseus; "I don't want to be here I don't need to be here" Makes me think of when he was trapped in the cave of Polyphemus... Pretty much the rest of the song appears to be troubles at sea, which was invoked by Poisedon. I guess the "I drew regret with a dull blue pencil" is just a poetic licence towards the troubles at sea again, or possibly a reference to the object used to blind Polyphemus previous to their escape, which in turn caused many problems for their return journey. |

I think the original album "...Night Crawls In" was based around vampires to be honest, listen to the songs Children In Black, and Black Heart and a Hammer specifically, although some of the others have strong references too. @michinobu_zoned; their song Deception was used in one of the games, but that was some time after ...Night Crawls In was released. |

I agree with Valduran; the entire album is related to Troy (all their albums are related to previous events in history if you listen closely). The first time I heard Winterborn though it made me think of WWI, fighting in the trenches basically because of this: "That children of a newer day might remember And avoid our fate" Everyone hoped that WWI would be the war to end all wars, and we've said for so many years that both WWI and WWII should never be forgotten and never be repeated. "And in the fury of this darkest hour We will be your light" Both WWI and WWII were considered modern history's darkest hours. |

The German bit basically translates into saying I'm leaving this world, which ties into the "And where does the newborn go from here? The net is vast an infinite." Where the protagonist enters the net and basically leaves the real world for good. Vague I know but I kinda fell sleep in the film ;) I think tying the above into the rest of the song means leaving this world, but never leaving your side. "I can move you if you're blind" You still get emotional, even though you can no longer see me, "I am always at your side" I am always there for you, "You can run but I can hide" You can try running from the pain, but I'm always there, just out of view, |

"Everytime you say my name, you reinvent the pain." It reminds me of someone who I cared about, she knew how much I cared and used it against me, whenever she'd step back into my life things would seem great until she'd gotten what she wanted, then she'd leave and I'd be depressed again, basically 'everytime you get in touch, you manage to hurt me again.' "I close my eyes in fear again, but nothing ever feels the same." It makes you afraid to be in another relationship incase the same thing happens again with someone else. It also makes me think that every time she steps into my life, even if I'm with someone else, I always go back to her, and it makes me afraid of my own betrayal to someone else. Of course, thats just my interpretation of it compairing things to my past, probably another meaning I'm ignorant of ;) |
