Jane's Addiction – Three Days Lyrics 15 years ago
It is the musical representation of his three day drug induced haze with two other women. The song starts with a somber mood and then turns very intense and then at once turns wistful and then intense again. The lyrics are the expresson of a poets mind and combined with the music it is a heavy trip. The song in and of itself is not about drug use but the feel of the song is very much an example of how musical artists can convey a certain feel. It starts out lucid enough but we get the feel that something is just not right. The the music gets heavier after the shadows and the lights were one. That's when the wicked thoughts kick in and flow through our heads when under the influence . True hunt is over no herd to follow, without game men prey on each other. Powerful stuff. That's one part of the mind working under the influence. The intropective 'we are interconnected' side. Then the outburst of Erotic Jesus lays with his Marys is the mucial representation of the manic side of the mind breaking through. I don't know if anyone catches my drift on this but obviously I have tripped balls and this song feels just like that. Once again the song in and of itself is not about drugs use. It's just an expression of someone who has used drugs. In other words it's not what is being said but how. Perry Farrel is an amazing poet and a mucial mad man. He takes personal experiences and turns them into masterpeices of sonic beauty. And by the end of the song we are left exhausted. That's the mucial landscape of drugs. At the end of it all you feel wasted and spent. In the music sense great. In the literal sense potentially damaging and I am not indorseing drug use at all. The song rocks when I'm completely sober as well. Another testament to the Perry Farrel.

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics 15 years ago
This song like the majority of songs is not deep and there is no hidden meaning that needs to be discected. Interpretation is needed in the abscence of fact. So before we interpret what the song is about let's look at the facts. Fact 1: The majority of visitors to this site are young people. Fact 2: The majority of young people down load music as opposed to buying albums. Fact 3: The fine art of making albums is lost on many young people who grew up in a era of singles. In other words if you have one hit single producers will pound out ten more songs and slap it on a cd and hope that it will sell on the strength of the single. Which is why alot of times you buy a cd and there is only one good song on it. Fact 4: This song is off of the album 'A Night at the Opera. Fact 5: The definition of rhapsody is any enthusiastic out burst of expression espesially verbal such as a peom. This song is a simple story of a man who commited murder and now must face the consequences. Period. It is down in an operatic style and follows along with the rhapsody theme perfectly. I think before we interperate things we should understand the context first then we wouldn't have to try so hard to see something that is not there.

Eric Clapton – I Shot The Sheriff Lyrics 15 years ago
It's a rock' n roll song about an outlaw because rock n roll is outlaw music. Rebelling has what rock music has been about and rooting for a hero who has killed a man matches that persona. It's a simple story about a bad men who do good things and good men who do bad things. The wild west was wild because it wasn't this place where the good guys wore white and always did the honorable thing and blah blah blah. It was more complicated than that. Yeah I shot the sherrif but he always had it in for me. So I said scew it, Im leaving. He wouldn't let it go so I shot 'em in the ass. What of it. Instead of coming after me go find the dude who shot the deputy ya dummies.

Queen – Another One Bites The Dust Lyrics 15 years ago
Cut the shit with the drugs and the aids and the homosexuality. It's a tale of revenge. It's not that hard people. It's a rebelious rock n roll song because that's what rock n roll is ... rebelious.

The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil Lyrics 15 years ago
I think that the key to this song is the fact that it's told in the first person. The devil is telling you that I was there when Jesus Christ had his moment of doubt and pain. I was there when the bliztkrieg raged. I layed tracks for the troubadours who get killed before they reach Bombay. In other words I'm the badest mutha fucka on the block. I CHOSE to rule in hell rather than serve in heaven. I turned my back on the whole shabang, so when you meet me show me some damn respect or I'll lay your soul to waste. You can say all you want to behind my back but when where face to face give all you well learned qualities. If you don't know about me you better ask somebody. I don't think it's any deeper than that. This song is just a balls to the wall rock n roll song and rock n roll has always been rebelious. Who is the biggest rebel in history? Well I hope you guess his name.

Peter Gabriel – Come Talk To Me Lyrics 15 years ago
Replacements, wow good way to put it. Art knows no boundries. Age, race, religion what ever. If the art is a true expression of human experiece combined of course with the mastery of technique then all those who come in contact will feel it. They have no choice. Paul Simon is another on of those artist along with Van Morrison. I did not know this song was about his daughter since the bulk of this albulm was influenced by a horrible divorce. It's just another testatment of how an artist can express something so personal and have it be so universal. Dare I say genius.

Peter Gabriel – Washing Of The Water Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is not just about a broken heart it's about a broken soul. "I'll get those hooks out of me and I'll take out the hooks I sunk deep in your side." Are you kidding me? The only person on earth who could hurt these two people they way they have hurt each other is each other. That's some heavy stuff. It's a big responsibilty to love some one that much because when things go bad you can dig into each other like no else can. Heavy stuff people. Mind blowing.

Peter Gabriel – Digging In The Dirt Lyrics 15 years ago
Wow, Dex, you hit it right on the nail about the sex part. I do think that the song is not as deep as many are makin it out to be. The subject matter maybe complex but not the way it's presented. There is something unrelenting about the beat that perfectly matches the mood of the lyrics. It's seething. Even when the narrator is asking for the listenter to stay with me I need support and finding the places I got hurt (which at the end of the song changes to find the places WE got hurt) the music matches the sentiment by becoming wistful. Just a testament to how good Peter Gabriel is.

Paul Simon – 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover Lyrics 15 years ago
I was sitting in my living room trying to help friend of mine who just did not know what he was going to do about this crazy relationship he was in. It was really self destructive for both of them but I was not in the mood to talk (Let's just say I was not sober) and I ran and got my Paul Simon CD and played this track for my friend. He was not sober either and it could have been a really bad scene but Paul saved the day and as the song's message was reapeated by the wonderful chorus a small smile appeared on my friends face. The realization of the song deepened and hit home and the small smile slowly got bigger until it lit up the whole room. When it's over it's over and for some moments in life there are no words: Just slip out the back, Jack.

Steely Dan – Do It Again Lyrics 15 years ago
Of course it's about repeating destructive patterns. But damn! Reincarnation. I never thought of that. Very astute obvservation billybayou. By the way. Way back when someone mentioned that 'handle in your hand' referred to a slot machine handle but it's acually a poker term that means a players favorite hand. Broson Doyle's favorite hand was 10,2 which is very weak but he won two tournaments with that hand. Hence 10, is his handle.
