Correction for above...He wrote this after he got out of college and started writing songs and realized how much he learned with the guys he was writing songs with that he kind of cut out people from before to pursue his music and then consequently he missed out on a lot of things with his friends so he wrote this song about it. |

Erik said that he wrote this song when he went off to music college to pursue his music and he had to leave a lot of his friends and family back home and he always felt bad about losing connection with them and inadvertently ignoring them while he was away. He wrote this song trying to say how bad he felt about it and he knew how "hurtful" it was for those people he kind of, for lack of better words, left behind. |

It seems like it's about drug use because of the show Intervention which could very well be the truth. It could also be literally about taking 5 steps towards that person you care about or it could be about suicide. He talks about taking 5 steps to be in front of a train and then he says it's over. Or this song can mean something completely different, this is just some ideas I thought of. |

I think it's about someone watching someone they care about getting married with the wrong person and it's not their soulmate. I think this person has probably been hurt a lot in love and has just decided not to love and marry someone even if she isn't in love. They have a "cold gun" because she pretty much killing herself by marrying someone she doesn't love. He's telling her to take her time and don't rush things and just wait for real love to come to her. |

I think it's about two people who keep missing each other, he wants them to finally "dock at the same port" and he knows it will happen, it's just the idea of waiting for it and finally getting together with that person.
He sings "I wish I could sleep, I wish I could dream," he feels like he won't be able to sleep until he's with the one person and you can't have dreams unless you're happy and asleep with that person.
At the end he explaining how he's seeing the town burn down and walking away and that is a metaphor for his relationship with her and they have still yet to finally come together permanently.

I think George is trying to tell people that it's no use living in the past, and specifically, I think he is talking about The Beatles and how they are over and he's tired of hearing about them and talking about and wants to live his life in the present instead of the past. He wants to "Be Here Now."

I think it's about a relationship that has lost it's zeal and love and she knows that their relationship won't be what it was and that's it's going downhill and when he's not there emotionally and physically it leaves her in quiet times. She knows the relationship will end soon and she's just anticipating it.

This is an awesome duet with Nelly Furtado. I think it's pretty much about the end of relationship and just deciding that they are done and they can't do anything to fix what's happened. They are broken and there's no way to go back and they both are realizing that it's finally over.

Awesome song, I think it's about his wife walking out on him one day and never coming back home. He still feels that pain of her abandonment and leaving him and he talks about throwing her things out but keeping his ring which you can assume is his wedding ring. At the end, he says that he is still uncomfortable about how they parted and realizes that they went from lovers to strangers in an instance and that her being gone still upsets him. |

This is such a great song. What I get from it is that he has done things that will hurt his partner and he knows that he doesn't deserve her kindness, but he can't bare to think what he would do if she left him so he doesn't tell her what he's done. He knows he's going to have to end it because he can't let her stay with him after what he's done. He thinks of himself selfish for taking advantage of her kindness because he knows he did her wrong. She does so much for him and he hopes that someday she can be with someone who treats her like she treats him. |
