AJJ – Be Afraid of Jesus Lyrics

THere was that whole "Sheep and goats" line where he basically tells people to care for the sick, the imprisoned, the hungry, etc. or go to hell...
But yeah, this song has some delicious irony. I think (and FWIW, I'm Christian...oh, it's worse...I'm in seminary aiming for ordained ministry) that it's responding to a particular theology that's become so popular in some circles that people think it's the only theology.
Jesus said some really harsh stuff in the gospels, but most of it seemed aimed at the people who were screwing others and calling it "righteousness," (sound familiar?). Looking at the world, I can understand where the rage comes from.
It's an interesting song. I'm glad I found it, and these guys. |

mewithoutYou – Cattail Down Lyrics

Regarding the line "Cattail down, replace the feathers in our vest," I just found an article in a greenie magazine that brought up the idea of replacing goose down with cattail down.

Of course, what that has to do with the rest of the song is still kind of an enigma. |

mewithoutYou – Timothy Hay Lyrics

I was wondering if there's some connection between Timothy Hay and Christian evangelism tracts (that the rats make their nests in?), but that might just be my prejudice against tract-passing showing...;-P |

So, as this song seems allegorical (as does nearly everything else on the album)...what does the Timothy Hay mean? |

The issue with the professor (and I know this because I have the same problem myself) is that he confuses knowing about something with knowing something (in the biblical sense). It's one thing to talk about justice and righteousness, it's another thing to be just and righteous. |

Both the professor and lieutenant represent types of pride. He even implies that the lieutenant is conceited (for all the lieutenant's conceit, he too...). I think the lieutenant is the sort who seeks his own glory (all the isles will be mine!), where the professor is merely confuses knowledge with understanding. |

A "Padparadscha" is a very rare type of sapphire. I love how every album forces me to look up even more random information. I don't know where Aaron gets this stuff...

Psalters – Dig It Up Lyrics

First off, thanks for posting these lyrics. I've been trying to work them out for a while now.
Second off, I think there's a verse missing. The second one starts with something like "I'm wearin' right through this old pair of shoes..." |
