Yeah of course they're gonna say its open to interpretation. Most good artists write songs that way because that way they have meaning to a lot of different people. I think what we really want to know is what the song means to Isaac. |

Simply put the song is about passion's potential to destroy logic, and logic's potential to destroy passion equally. It works both ways. Its not about something specific like a girl I dont think. The concept can be applied to other things too like careers for example. Say someone wants to be a professional musician... passion can overcome the logic that it is not profitable at first, a high risk, and potentially a financial waste of time. On the other hand this same logic could potentially destroy ones passion to fulfill their dreams. It just depends on the person. Everyone has to balance these two in so many aspects of life. |

The meth metaphor does make a lot of sense. More than I had realized. I'd expect he may have intended to include subtle religious messages in the song. Hes an atheist, as am I. I relate to his views on organized religion in that it is mostly BS, and the idea of specifics as far as prophets and the personification of God is retarded to me. In public I tell people I'm atheist to avoid conversation with religious nuts. Sometimes I think I truly am an atheist, but then again I also think that maybe I am being cynical. I have been close to dieing a couple times and have thought about God in the moment of near death in hopes that something is there, but found no promise, and had to fight the fear of it with brute courage. I think Isaac might think in a similar way. he obviously has interest in the concept of god, but also finds many flaws in that type of thinking. Deep down I think Isaac may actually believe in some sort of entity, maybe something that is unconscious of our existence, but is something that we are all a part of. I obviously cant say for sure, but this is kind of how I look at the universe. I think the religious themes in the song are implying that God does actually exist, but he isn't this all powerful being with answers to everyones problems.
To make a long story short the song is kind of like....when you're a little kid and you realize that Santa Claus isn't exactly what you thought he was. |

Maybe its just me relating this to a personal experience. I think its about a guy who is in love with a girl, but she comes and goes as she pleases without any sort of commitment. The singer is kind of saying OK. Ill wait for you to come back to me. Im fine. He is in love with her and so he cant help but to sit and wait for her to come back around again. The title kind of makes sense because its eluding to the two of them eventually being something. they are not, and maybe never will be, but he keeps hoping. |
