The Brian Jonestown Massacre – Reign On Lyrics 12 years ago
Thanks, Lunchbox. Her voice is heartbreaking!

It's such a hauntingly beautiful song. I love the line "what does blue feel like?"

Pink Floyd – Young Lust Lyrics 13 years ago
i think you miss the point, in the context of the entire album. the songs aren't meant to be interpreted seperately.

Pink Floyd – Young Lust Lyrics 13 years ago
In "Empty Spaces" Pink asks what he should use to complete the wall. This song satirically shows that a modern man, and a rockstar, fills those spaces with meaningless sexual conquests, among other materialistic things.

And what happened on the Album, is that "Empty Spaces" replaced "What shall we do now?" because it was too long for that side of the album. "Young Lust" didn't replace anything, there was just a song inserted between the two.

A Perfect Circle – Orestes Lyrics 14 years ago
obviously he is using orestes as a metaphor, you jackass. this song goes much farther into the relationship of mother and child.

Alice in Chains – Sludge Factory Lyrics 15 years ago
I would agree with that. I don't think the song is entirely about the industry, but that definitely is used in creating the complete idea that societal burdens ruin the soul. That second verse (as well as the chorus, it seems) conveys that the pressure of the process leaves little room for ispiration.. "call me up congratulations ain't the real why, there's no pressure besides billions, let's say by day 9." the phony mediator between the artist and the industry, humouring a dying layne to make sure that the record gets out.

Primus – Over The Falls Lyrics 15 years ago
This song gives me chills. There's just something haunting in the heavy beat and inevitably tragic lyrics. It also may be the thought I get of that creepy wax museum in Niagra Falls... :)

People In Planes – Light For The Deadvine Lyrics 15 years ago
I think that the middle of this album (Moth to Light for the Deadvine) is a narration of a distant love affair. By distant, I mean that the parties involved aren't in any position to meld their lives together, but still strongly desire each other. This relates to that because he is reaching the point where the knowledge of mutual affection is not enough to sustain him anymore. He is basically pleading with the person to just give in. He is trying to explain that being unhappy and burdened for the sake of responsibility is not worth it in the end. Where he says "no cars facing our way" and "we'll all melt away like ice in your hand" he is promising that the negative consequences of their actions will not be permanant, and in the end they will find what they have been looking for.

People In Planes – Falling By The Wayside Lyrics 15 years ago
I think that the middle of this album (Moth to Light for the Deadvine) is a narration of a distant love affair. By distant, I mean that the parties involved aren't in any position to meld their lives together, but still strongly desire each other. This song relates to that because he is finding himself "playing it safe" by not forgetting all that can go wrong and taking the leap for love. It is slowly driving him insane, and he is finding it harder all the time to make the choices that are safest, without feeling like he is missing out on something spectacular.

People In Planes – Rush Lyrics 15 years ago
This is about finding yourself falling for someone that you know will not be healthy for you. Its about finding that they feel the same way and how it makes it so much harder to resist the urge.

Tool – Opiate Lyrics 15 years ago
From his music, it seems to me that he doesn't follow any religion. While, he seems to have an almost philosophical appreciation for the spiritual aspects of life and nature (see Third Eye), his lyrics consistantly denounce organized religion. If I were to find out that there is a religion to which he would call himself a follower, I would find that a bitter pill to swallow.

Nouvelle Vague – Let me go Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is about the end to a relationship that seemed like it was going to last forever. She is having trouble bringing herself to believe that it could really be over. It isn't so much that he physically isn't letting her go, but that she can't get rid of the notion that there is still a chance.. "All hopeless fantasies are making fools of me...I walk alone and yet I never say goodbye"

Of course we are taking his side of things... It is his song that we are interpreting.

Alice in Chains – Am I Inside Lyrics 15 years ago
I can understand why you would think that. Layne's voice is more subdued in this song than most of their others. It is a wonderful demonstration of his versatility, and one of the many reasons this song is one of their best.

People In Planes – Token Trapped Woman Lyrics 15 years ago
I thought it was about a woman that is trapped in a relationship, and the song is from another man that she is in love with.. However, I thought the line was "why should you beg forgiveness for the pleasures you give up."

I don't have the liner notes, so I bet this is correct... But I guess I have to churn, as well :)

People In Planes – Fire Lyrics 15 years ago
I would agree with QuebecGuy. One of the things that I love about PIP is that their lyrics are full of riddles.. It is easy to assume that half of their songs have no meaning, but the fact that I can't figure it out doesn't make it nonsense.
