Great point, Law4. I have a similar interpretation of Hey Jealously. The idea that most of what he's recalling never happened. Makes the songs even sadder. |

Film School is such an obscure band, but they're great. I've listened to this album and Hideout and I like em both very much so. Keep up the good work champs. |

John Frusciante – Look On Lyrics

Sometimes a song will catch me off guard, and this song did just that. I've had this album on my pod for almost 2 years and I've listened to it a few times, but one day I was just taking a bubble bath and this song came on. And it clicked. I've been listening to it almost non-stop for about 3 days now. Thank you John, thank you Apple for the shuffle feature, and God Bless.

Radiohead – Codex Lyrics

I feel it's about suicide. Several of you guys have already mentioned it. I picture someone driving in their car. Sliding their hand to the right would mean falling over the edge (i.e. bridge). Dragonflies are found near water, I think they're one of the many bugs that crash into your windshield when driving at night (especially in places like Florida). The water's clear and innocent is the exact opposite of what life is like. Jumping over means returning whence you came, no more anxiety, no more guilt, no more troubles.
I agree with kyle16813. |

Deerhunter – Desire Lines Lyrics

I like the instrumentals to finish off the song. You could get lost in it. I'm gonna make sure to include this on a playlist for my next road trip. Seems like a perfect fit while driving at night. I just found out about these guys a few days ago; they were on the Conan O'Brien show playing Helicopter. |

The Cure – Just Like Heaven Lyrics

I agree on all points. And just to add to it, the last few lines starting with 'Daylight licked me into shape" talks about how he no longer has her, for whatever reason. And how distraught he is even though he had trouble expressing his love for her when they were together. I've liked this song for quite some time but I've never looked up the lyrics; a few lines I misheard here and there definitely add to the song now that they're cleared up. One of my faves along with Boys Don't Cry, Charlotte Sometimes, and Same Deep Water As You. |

Wolfsheim – Once In A Lifetime Lyrics

I took the song more literally. Perhaps it's a natural disaster he's speaking of. Something totally devastating like a tsunami.
"its getting dark... too soon... a threatening silence." Like the calm before a storm.
"surrounding me... a wind comes up from the islands... " You guys see where I'm going with this. Anyhow, he's not going to pretend to love God because the end of the world is coming and so he has nothing left to lose. He's already lost his wife and son and now he's going to face God's wrath while everyone else is praying. I also like some of the less literal interpretations on this page.
I also think the following lines are interesting:
the love in you, it does not burn,
there is no lesson you can learn
and there are sounds you cannot hear,
and there are feelings you cant feel
Someone discussed it above me but I think I can add to it. I heard in a movie that Gods envy humans because our days are numbered and because of that everything is sweeter, and more meaningful. And so God's love does not burn like ours, and he cannot feel things we feel because he's immortal. BTW, it was Brad Pitt in "Troy." |

Wu-Tang Clan – C.R.E.A.M. Lyrics

Inspectah Deck's verse is so deep man. Straight from the heart. My favorite lines:
Though I don't know why I chose to smoke sess
I guess that's the time when I'm not depressed
But I'm still depressed, and I ask what's it worth?
Ready to give up so I seek the Old Earth
Who explained working hard may help you maintain
to learn to overcome the heartaches and pain
There have been days when I'd rewind that part over and over. Goes straight to the soul

Rage Against the Machine – Mic Check Lyrics

Yeah I thought of '1984' when I read the line "Nameless cold millions gaspin' for air." A reference to the lower class or the "Proles" in the book. Jack London's 'The Iron Heel' has a similar class but by a different name. Those that are so far down the totem pole that they are insignificant despite their large numbers. |

I don't see what's out of touch about those lines. He's referring to the inequality in this country. How some (the poor, especially minorities) have to work harder than others (the wealthy) JUST to compete. I think it not only refers to money but education, jobs, and quality of life. He mentions this in one of the first verses: "Rippin' it up/For an even amount in each cup." This is certainly true, but there are a lot of factors influencing todays poverty (i.e. cultural, political, etc.) |

Death Cab for Cutie – Soul Meets Body Lyrics

Why don't you ask Death Cab for Cutie to play for you and only you? That way they could stop selling albums and gaining popularity. Because after all I'm sure you were the first person to discover them and that's where your sense of entitlement comes from. Fool! Dang, too bad I'm 4 and half years late. |

I think your interpretation fits. But if I had to sum it up in one word I would lean more towards Temptation, as opposed to Greed. But I thought of that only after I read your interpretation. So good job and many thanks. |

Radiohead – I Might Be Wrong Lyrics

I think this song is about hitting rock bottom emotionally. Feeling alone, surrounded by darkness. But things might be changing. There is now hope. Possibly due to a new romantic relationship. And now with these feelings he doesn't ever want to go back to how he felt; that kind of sadness that takes over your entire life. |

I know this is most likely NOT the true meaning of the song but to ME this song is about the past and changing times. Things are no longer what they once were and no longer as good. This song has such a nostalgic feel to it, if that makes any sense... |
