The Antlers – Bear Lyrics

I don't know if this is the true story but it's the one that I've heard that i like the best and listening to the album with this story in mind makes it a lot better in my opinion. The story is that the album is about a man who works in a hospice and falls in love with one of his patients who is dying of cancer. And the album is going through their relationship, the whole time he is pretty much just watching her die. And in epilogue it seems that she does die in the end. Like I said I don't know if that is the real story. |

The Antlers – Two Lyrics

ThrowingLemons is right, the album is called hospice because it tells the story of when the singer worked in a hospice and fell in love with a girl who was a patient there, if you don't know what exactly a hospice is, it's a place where terminally ill patients go to pretty much be taken care of until they die. So he knew the girl was going to die the whole time and he fell in love with her and then married her and the whole time was just watching her die. That is what the whole album is about, it's not about abortion or eating disorders or anything like that. |

It isn't about abortion, it's about cancer, the whole album is about when he worked in a hospice and he fell in love with a girl dying of cancer. The bear that it's talking about is cancer read the lyrics thinking about that and the meaning of the album and it will make sense |

just one little correction here, it wasn't alcohol poisoning he almost died from, he attempted suicide by taking a bunch of pills and drinking whiskey, he talks about that more in the song no "No Lies, Just Love" I guess you could say alcohol poisoning but I think suicide attempt is more accurate. |

Stars – The Very Thing Lyrics

This seems to me like it's what bluemask said, he knocked up a woman and stayed with her because of the child or because he doesn't want to be alone, whatever the reasons he did stay with her. But he doesn't love her, and the line in the chorus that's like "Even though I tried I couldn't make her see I wasn't quite the man she though I'd be" sounds to me like he's trying to make her leave him, and the line at the end she is asking why he's pushing her away and saying if he ever lost her no one would else would ever love him. |

lolwut? its deffinetly not about cocaine, it says hey snow white but that is the only line in the whole song that could reference to that, and if it did the rest of the song wouldn't make much sense. |

i totallay agree, and the funny part is most of them just assume it is because of their sound, they dont even pay attention to their lyrics or the messages they try to get across in their songs. |

hmmm personally i think the frou frou version is 100 times better. this makes it sound like a sad song and its not. its about trying to get someone to take a chance even though it might hurt them in the end. |

AvA uses war as an analogy for love in almost every single one of their songs and this is no exception, hes talking about a relationship that both people waited to long to act on and get serious about and it just faded. |

The Postal Service – We Will Become Silhouettes Lyrics

It isnt about the end of the world at all, you can tell by the first lines.
"I've got a cupboard with cans of food
Filtered water, and pictures of you
And I'm not coming out until this is all over
And I'm looking through the glass
Where the light bends at the cracks
And I'm screaming at the top of my lungs
Pretending the echoes belong to someone
Someone I used to know"
He is saying he is going to stay inside where hes comfortable and he can still look at pictures and pretend they are still together and he can yell and pretend the echoes are hers. its about being in denial of a relationship ending.
The second verse is saying he's tempted to come out but he knows if he sees her with another guy "his insides will explode"
and finally The line "And we'll become silhouettes
When our bodies finally go" is saying he's a shadow of what he used to be. |
