Love this song- love how Nada Surf have that really bouncy, energetic, deep feeling to their music. You could dance along to this song, but at the same time really take meaning from the lyrics- which seems to be in regards to climate change, and how we as a human race have just ruined it all for our own, immediate gain. Love the little bridge at the end too, just after he sings "Let it go"... amazing! |

"Just look at this size of you". I'm not usually a big fan of songs about infactuation and love, but you can really hear how Matt feels when he sings this line. It reminds me of how it feels to feel that way about someone. |

I take the lyrics in Fruit Fly as both literal and metaphorical. For me, it sounds like Matthew has seen some flies buzzing around in his kitchen, and instead of seeing it as just that, he sees it in a deeper, more metaphorical sense and relates the flies behavior to his own. He relates how they are flying around meaningless, with no where to go, nothing to do, and realises he sees himself in the same way. Thats how I take it anyway... Beautiful song though. I can really relate to it in my life at the moment. |
