After living in sf for 3 years, mister Banhart and I know exactly where to go for some action. At the Dirty D bars, Delirium and Dalva at 16th and valencia , "riding 6 white horses" (hipsters on there DIY bikes) . A few other bands such as third eye blind talk about this area, but Banhart nails the contemporary mind set of these 20 somethings having nothing to do, but hang out at a sweaty dive bar looking for love, but never really finding any kind of real love here. |

This is a song I can constantly listen to and not really get tired of. Australia has been pumping out the most amazing music for the past couple of years; cut copy, digitalism, oh mercy, clue to kalo, and many more have made my new favorites list. As for this song, it is very Bill Joel reminiscent but packed with so much more feeling and power. |

I believe Jenkins may be referring to a passage by Jack Kerouac. Otherwise, he's talking about his fans and the special people they are. Nerds, misfits, loudmouths, people that like to keep away from the norm.

THis has to do a lot with him being on the road... for me it means living in a big city "painted faces is all I see" I still feel lonely and I have had anxiety at times. Sometimes you really could just "use somebody" to bring your lows up. someone real and who actually really knows you and understands you on a certain level. |
