I think the song might be about the story of TT . In the begining they were amateurs, looking at other stars, emulating them ( New Kids On The Block and other bands, singing covers ) . Their songs mostry talked about Love . Meet you where the Lights are ( Concerts ) . I wonder if the part of drowned eyes means the tears of the Fans that cry over them, its not something to die for, but its OK to cry, they cried too . ( One of the grop members talks about thinking of commiting suicide jumping into the Thames ) ( They row on the Thames on the Video on a boat named progress, but you already know that ) . Posters will still remain to be on the wall that night so the members will watch over the Fans while they sleep. The verse in my opinion talks about the way they deal with the situation. Problems where there after more than 5 years of working. Dancing the Rain might mean dealing with all the conflicts since rain its often a way of talking about pain or difficulties ( Examples : Here Comes The Rain Again by Lenox or Raining Again by Moby ) . So it would mean that they were overwhelmed by all the people asking stuff from them ( tiny minds and eager hands ) Bleeding none leaving ( All uncomfortable but not leaving the band ) Whatch your mouth or you ll be dead and floating Home . ( Given the sack and forget it )... The seing not what we are... Is that they lost sight of what was important... Forgeting the Music and Ideals and becoming a package to be sold. Progress now. Means that they are getting reunited in the same boat again . They are starting to get along as adults. |

I guess the Song plays with the Idea of an Open Heart Operation and the Stages of Love. It talks about the begining, the exploring, the new feelings. The initial desire for the body of the other person. Then she starts having power over her partner and plays with her mind ( Heart ). He is already Open " There is no Time for doubts " now. At the moment of " Two Lives May Be Saved " she is totally playing with the Idea of a transplant that saves lives and with the Idea of that two people finding the " ONE " in each other. She implies that she has been very skillful making the guy fall for her, so she played it so great that she would deserve a " Nobel Prize " ( And of course you can earn yourself a Nobel for trying ans succeding in performing a new kind of Operation ). " Nothing is Taboo " " Cutting Edge " ... Well... In Love , there are no rulez, all that line of thinking... I guess she implies with the end that they split up and that the " Operation " was not succesful. |

Well I think we all agree about the song meaning in a way. Is about a guy setteling down. What is different between the interpretations is what he is actually thinking. I guess that the frase about " Having to much to think " might be a clue about what the guy is actually feeling /thinking . This guys needs to figure out things, and some of us find the whole " Dating " and single life style as a " Hard work " someTimes. So if you find a good Girl, that you Love, well then you can settle down and start that process of finding yourself without worring about going out, grooming, being as worrie about getting fit, actitudes, and so on. So If you actually settle down with the right person you cand start Evolving in some other ways I guess. He also implies that only when the process is done ( or he gets old enough ) they are actually going to find full harmony. Im not so sure about this. Since " Stedy As She Goes " is a nautical order from the Capitan of a ship to indicate that the vessel should keep going forward in the direction that is already going regardless of the little obstacles ( Winds or Currents someTimes ) ... Im guessing this guy is saying, OK lets " Stay On These Roads " ( Hope you like A Ha also :) ) and see this trough. Hope is usefull people :) Martin ♫ |

OK, I very much Agree with the " Spirituality" Interpretation. It seems clear to me I guess . There is a phrase Ive learnt somewhere : " Craziness produces a pleasure only the insane knows about " Also once Ive heard a Jungian psycologist teacher talk about the indivituation process that takes place in the average person. And How a Child comes to the world with almos pure " Collective Conciousness " and by the Time he is an Adult the school, television, Friends, idetification and society in general worked as a " Machine " to convert a Child that is in armony with his true self in a " Collective Individual " that we call adapted ... So a Child is pure and knows the laws of Heaven and obeys them by instinct rather than by choice or will . So this old man is in a church and has an epiphany after 70 years. He realizes that he is there to understand Life and the Universe . So he is sitting there , the preacher is talking about people going under, the guy in the bench beside him is sleeping while women are gossiping and criticizing in a low voice . The priest is standing there , by the Face of God or Jesus , talking about how a Child knows about all this . Miracles will happen as we speak, dream, trip . When we speak about this stuff to each other we realize someTimes how beautiful life is, or be take into conscience our deepest thoughts . That also can happen when dreaming or having a very hard or painful Time . We realize that we are in a way all one and Berlin Walls and Wars where asian people kill each other do not make sense. And Means that as an Adult you have to be Somewhat Crazy to cope with reality, and eventually this crazyness is going to lead you to really understand whats happening around you . That War, Hunger, Poverty and Misery are NOT acts of God, but made by our own will . Then when you have this Absolute Collective Awareness you experiment the glimpse of Eternity and Infinite . In the whole world only few want to realize this . Only few want to abandon exceptisism . And start being aware and belive, wich is very Easy if you want it. And then you can fly and explore your posibilities without fear ... The pill part is a little confusing. I feel in this case that talks about making a choice that did not turn in a good way. But that part its just strange to me. Like I feel that its talking about a Pill that makes you Sleep. Awarnesswise. |
