Let me preface this with the fact that I really love TFF's music. Great stuff. However, with the exception of a few songs, their lyrics are kind of like flaky grade school poetry that doesn't mean anything at all. If there's meaning to be found in this song's lyrics, it has escaped me. However, it's a beautiful song and I love it. |

I love the way this song moves between a really smooth rift to a load chorus. Truly beautiful. These guys are great. I don't read much more into the meaning of the song than a guy who cares about a girl, and he's encouraging her to leave a bad relationship. |

i agree with imnotdon, i always thought this was a lighthearted song that was intended to be funny. Also, didn't "tomorrow who's gonna fuss" just refer to the stereotypical Mom role of fussing over things being blurred in the androgynous future? I am ashamed to admit that I don't know what a Kewpie doll (always wondered what that lyric was, thanks for filling me in) is, I'll be looking it up shortly... |

^5 to all of your comments. I grew up in the minneapolis suburbs and this song still means a lot to me. I was in high school when I first heard it and it helped me get my life together. I was going nowhere, had just failed freshman algebra. I ended up with a Ph.D. in chemistry. Thanks mats! |

I thought Let's Active was based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I had interpreted in the Georgia reference to identify REM as the band. The the pretty girl reference never made sense to me until I read the other comments. |

My understanding is that this song originated from unpleasant interactions with a flight attendant by or with Pete Buck from REM. Apparently he felt that he wasn't treated very well by the stewardess. |
