Linkin Park – Blackout Lyrics 10 years ago
Obviously about a girl.

First verse about "lying in the bed" shes made and how she's either cheating or just not being true about her feeling for him. He's voicing how he really loved her and her lies have hurt him because hes true, whether its cheating or just playing games. Then the chorus goes to :

Nooooooooo you'll NEVER get it INSIDE <- meaning she'll never change her deceitfulness at her true core, she keeps playing and lying. "You push it back down" means she pushes the truth back down and never says it, she just keeps being two people. "Blackout blood in your eye" I guess the most literal meaning is he punches her in the face and she blacks out, but idk, a metaphorical meaning escapes my mind.

Then "come down far below" i suppose is they finally get to the truth then they can build something real.

Peace.

I agree with the above post. It's him commenting on the problems. Also the one line "I wanna spill myself, to feel the thrill myself And since I can't be a player, wanna kill myself" comes to me sometimes. I look at people with money and cars and friends and I am just like "fuck it id rather be dead than a loser".

Morcheeba – Everybody loves a loser Lyrics 12 years ago
It's true, everybody does love a loser. Like all these successful people who fight and stomp over each other have material success but not much inner wealth. Losers have this quality and they are calming. My opinion on the subject. I was going to explain it more, but I am such a loser I am too lazy to type any more sentences.

Morcheeba – Living hell Lyrics 12 years ago
In the comment above a point is proved that I have thought about which I will explain here. First, "morcheeba" is a reference to marijuana (this is a fact, I read the name of band is meant to mean "the way of marijuana" and i'n my opinion this song has much to do about drugs and in correlation happiness. I am not writing this to be an advocate or anything it is just my experience.... I believe the the theme of much morcheeba music, song like "almost done", "who can you trust" and this one particularly have much to do with drug and alcohol abuse. I only say this from my own perspective, I used use pot/ beer/ drugs a lot, not in a "lets party" way, but in a medicinal "feel good because life is so bad" type of way. The gentleman or lady who commented above said that methylone and psychedelic mushrooms changed them from this person in "living hell" as the song talks about to somebody happy. For quote unquote "drug addicts" life becomes "living hell" in a number of ways, but primarily by being tortured by life's difficulties when sober for long or short periods of time, or by the pain of hangovers, broken relationships, and other things when not sober in life. This "living hell", or pain, can be remedied with drugs, but if like me you are lonley and depressed and a quote unquote "addict" and / or "alcoholic" the hell continues even though you get high or drunk. Quintessentially "living hell" is a spiritual or social train wreck , and for me It can not be solved with drugs permanently. Make sense to anybody? Anybody quote unquote "recovering" out there??? This is my opinion, the living hell described here is directly tied to drug and alcohol problems.

Everclear – Normal Like You Lyrics 12 years ago
Upon further reflection, most of what I wrote here is bullshit. I don't agree with most of what I wrote. All I know is Art feels like shit while he perceives others as being happy (normal). Someday he thinks he will be stupid and happy, not seeing the things that make him sad. There is a certain amount of contempt for people who are happy in this song, and he is critical saying that they are happy because they don't take account of all the pain and bs in the world.

I'm glad you also listen to morcheeba. LOL I was at a pool hall and played the song "Almost Done", by Morcheeba, on the jukebox and some people there literally started screaming "What is this shit?! The Gentle Waves – There Is No Greater Gold Lyrics 12 years ago
I had to read the lyrics a couple times but I think I understand now.

She is lonely and looking for love "love used to be a stranger to me. Love was so disappointing"
Then she finds somebody. The whole "I saw the devil waiting for me" line I can't add up however.
Yet as the song continues it is about being in love and being together with somebody. That is "the greatest gold"- love.
"See the people walking by with their mobile and computer eyes"- people are absorbed in these things when love is better.
But at the end she is alone again "Love I don't think I'll see you again. It isn't easy you say we're friends"
But then she reflects upon how the other person saved her "when you opened up your heart just enough to make me see again".
It's bittersweet, like love is. It's the greatest gold, but just like gold, it's hard to find.

Morcheeba – Shallow End Lyrics 12 years ago
Anything I say here is my interpretation and relation to this song. I really like listening to this song when I've just been trying too hard, at work, at school, whatever, and I just want things to be simple, not so complicated and painful...

I will be Explaining this song chronologically as well as metaphorically. Skye is singing about driving home from some sort of social occasion , maybe a party, where people are happy and toasting to the future, "or at least, that's what they say". Skye though feels badly about the whole thing, and she doesn't enjoy whatever the occasion was about like other people. That's why she says "we got away" when mentioning driving away. Her inability to feel happy makes her feel like an outsider from these happy people, thus the verse "pouring rain, runs through my head, makes me wonder if I'd be better off dead". This is basically the whole theme of the song, and the album, just fuck whatever is going on and try to accept things and be happy. But continuing on here... I'm not sure exactly what the line "in control now,of my defeat" is, but I've thought about it. I know that whenever I feel badly about some social interaction or thing I am supposed to be happy about but I'm not, when I get to be alone I don't feel like I have to act anymore. So maybe this is about just being with yourself and your own beliefs and life rather than what is expected. I think the line about driving Ferraris and such is a way of saying that material things make her happy. Etx. I know that there are some good metaphors in this song, and it's like really speaking about depression, doom, gloom, the bullshit that people are and do, the fakeness of people. Skye wants to be happy and stupid like the people in the beginning of the song, but she is too deep to feel happy about the same things as them. Or maybe shes just manically depressed. Or maybe I am. And thats, ok.

Morcheeba – Shallow End Lyrics 12 years ago
And just thinking about it, "Diving into the Shallow End" of lets say, a pool, would be injurious, you would probablly break your neck. So when Skye musingly sings "Let's Dive into the Shallow End" she is saying lets do something that will make us happy but be very dangerous, maybe she means drugs, maybe sex. Or possibly the idea of diving into the shallow end applies to the others that she cant feel the same as, maybe she is implying that they are in the shallow end and she wants to be with them in false happiness.

Everclear – Normal Like You Lyrics 13 years ago
In my opinion this song is about feelings associated with being an addict. I have always felt this song resonate with some part of me. All my life I have been either an outsider in my family where there is alcoholism and addiction, an outsider at school where I was the "fat kid" and just generally an outsider in society because I find it hard to go with the crowd and just "be happy". I was reading over the lyrics to this song yesterday and it just kind of dawned on me that the feelings described in this song parallel what I have felt when using and how I feel these days having found sobriety. The opening line of;
"Yeah they said you called me maybe yesterday
I don't even have the strength to pick up the phone"
is the way you feel when using or also just being sober but not having learned how to be happy sober yet. The person who called him was his girlfriend, and as he further explains in the song his heart is broken because she has found meds to be happy while he is going through life trying to be happy and clean without drugs (from a doctor or a dealer). The real part of these lyrics that hit me yesterday (I was reading them on my phone waiting for an AA meeting to start) are the lines;
"I know now every day
I get closer to the place inside
Where I can be complacent
Yes I get closer to the place inside
Where I can be sedated
Yes I get closer to the place inside
Where I can be normal too, I can be normal too
I can be normal like you"
I am going through this. Although I have been free of drugs and alcohol (including prescribed medication) I find that life keeps getting happier as I continue growing. I felt suicidal after about 2 years of sobriety but now approaching my 3rd year I am sleeping well, eating well, getting exercise, talking about my emotional and relationship troubles and i'm feeling happy a lot. I see that life sober doesn't mean I will be suicidal and angry, It takes time but I am getting to a point where life will be "good". So my opinion is basically that this is about people who are addicts or alcoholics and how getting sober can make you happy and "normal" with time and effort. Thanks for reading, this is just my subjective opinion so hope it helps somebody, but then again the song could mean somethings different to others.

Alela Diane – To Be Still Lyrics 13 years ago
Good day everybody,
Personally I struggle with anxiety and worry, conversely I fall into slothful behavior and laziness. I believe this song in a round about way expresses the need for getting in touch with god in a way, it is about being who you are supposed to be. As many of Alela's songs this is about a a 19th century Western man, the song is sung by his wife. In a literal sense he is looking for gold out west while she stays at home alone. This is her call to him to come back home, expressing that the riches he longs for (gold) are really the family life that she longs for - the real fruits that this man will enjoy are being close personally "California hills will surely welcome us back home
But the way toward the crop of gold is not far from the snow
Oh, the way toward the crop of gold is not far from the snow"
In a more symbolic sense this song , and most of Alela's, are about letting go of material worries and being happy with what we have, and being grateful for our lives as they are and accepting our material possessions without striving for more. Alela's songs are about opening our eyes to out bounty in front of us, not what our mind or selfish nature tells us. :) I long to live at peace like this, it is very tricky as the material world is omnipresent. Thank you for reading my comment.

Weezer – Only in Dreams Lyrics 13 years ago
any thing I write about this song relates to my own experience- that's why I feel I can tell the meaning

I believe this song is about a man and a woman (prob in their teens or early 20's), the man is singing this song so it's from his point of view. He is obsessed with this girl, so much so that she is as important as the air that he breathes. It is a loving obsession, she literally is as important to his life as oxygen. However, he can't have her. He can't have her. So it seems that the only place they can be together is in a fantasy, or dream. But no matter what he loves her more than anybody. The love becomse's painful and the only way to heal the pain is to be together. But it doesn't ever work, so they can be together in dreams. The pain is always there but you get more distracted from it over time.

I can't be happy. I have limited trust in other people, I am angry, sad, and desperately I only want some people to love and love me. However i'm scared. The singer is saying that people like us stand in our own way "I'm here to help, you decline. Want to rebel by design" Thats all I know, and even though being the way I am is lonely and miserable I can't trust anybody and then get better. She is saying that's it's going to be ok- all we need to do is let somebody help us. She's telling us that we need to trust others

"Ill find a way to lead you astray,
Just a little longer"

Such a helpful song for a depressive or traumatized person like myself.

Everclear – Local God Lyrics 14 years ago
Hey all. Everclear's lead singer has a history of drug abuse and so do I. I think that this song is about how drugs and just going crazy makes us feel like a "local god" we feel so good, we think we are in love with these girls, we are on top of the world. However, inevitably what goes up must come down and we end up in a dark hole "
Summer days can lead to the bad times
The world gets larger everyday
Yeah, yeah, the summer days can lead to the bad blood
That leaves me feelin stupid, happy, and numb".

Overall I think this song is actually sarcastic, it's about how powerful we feel when we are irresponsible but how ultimately we end up on the bottom of the heap.

Bob Marley and the Wailers – Who The Cap Fit Lyrics 14 years ago
Well, what i'm going through in life might shed some light. I'm really feeling this songs melody, it really strikes my soul when the bass drops in and Bob sings "who the cap fit". I have just recently contacted an old girl "relationship". For the past 3 years I have been in recovery from alcoholism, I knew this girl when I was drinking. My twisted mind convinced me that I loved her so much, but after she finally would talk to me after 3 years (we fought, she had new boyfriend etc and she wouldn't talk to me) I see that now that I am sober I was just trying to fill the spiritual void in my life with this girl. I am also going through the rrecovery/growing up process so the world is changing before me. It is about finding god and our places in life as well as accepting out past mistakes that cause us turmoil and pain (in my case the girl) and growing up to be happy. Please respond if you have any thoughts.

I think this song is about somebody just being empty and having to lie all the time although they are trying to be happy and live meaningfully.

"I've got a head full of drought,
Down here, so faroff losing out"

She's open to falling from grace because she wants meaning in her life. It is looking like a good idea to "fall from grace" in one way or another because she isn't making any progress trying to be happy living a honest life.

8mm – Never Enough Lyrics 14 years ago
It's about loving / wanting / needing somebody in a way that is like the apex of your existence. I know I felt this way, I loved somebody like they were the air and the sunlight. I needed them like the air, they were the only thing that made me alive, but they didn't want me anymore. Thats where the despair and pain comes in- loneliness that can only be experienced by a few. I know how much that type of thing sucks. Eventually you have to forget, sometimes you can't get somebody back. I know how much that sucks, but it's one of the flaws that makes us human.

8mm – Give It Up Lyrics 14 years ago
Thanks MS. E

I really really get this song (at least at an emotional level) it kinda talks about things that can't be expressed vocally. It's about the despair and love that you have with somebody and a desperate plead to be allowed into their life. I was really in love with a girl when I caught onto this song, she wouldn't do anything to let me back in to her life because I treated her badly the first time around. I wished that I could do anything or everything that she wanted from me, but no matter how hard I tried she wasn't having it. This song just transcends the way that time was, so painful, yet eventually I was able to reason and believe that we both did all we could. I think that this song describes the flip side of truly unconditional love.... unyielding unrelenting excruciating loving and longing for somebody who becomes the air that you breath.

Cracker – Low Lyrics 14 years ago
..................Hey
Okay so here is my short interpretation. I love this song, just really catchy. The music video depicts him in a boxing ring with a girl. Her robe says "champ" on it so he is the contender. The boxing match sets up the thought that maybe this time he can beat the girl in the boxing match. The whole boxing ring is a metaphor for their being together, he loves her but she always fights him and his love. This is just an expression of him loving a girl so much and getting knocked down everytime he tries to make a happy fruitful relationship. And maybe it's because he gets a high off her that the "stoned" refrence is used. That's what I think. Relationships can be drugs too.

Morcheeba – Almost Done Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this song is being descriptive of a typical dysfunctional relationship between a man and a woman. The title "Almost Done" probably is about being almost done in the relationship(or possibly some other thing in life, anything, that you love but is killing you)- somebody is leaving, This song has a bittersweet quality to it because by going through the terrible aspects of this event or relationship she can see the light on the other side. She is liberated that she no longer has to be a slave to the delusion that this person or thing that she loves is actually killing her, even though she loves it and it is her world.
