So few comments for such a glorious song...

This shit is unquestionably amazing. Some may perceive it as slightly naive and possibly overly sentimental but for me it is deeply cathartic, passionate and vital.

Whatever he intends on making you do, it cannot be denied this is a deeply poignant, inspired track and also rather emotional considering it closes the final album he made.

*structured. I corrected myself, okay; settle down. I wouldn't want you to have to assume what I meant using rational thought and logic regardless of a minor misplacement of letters.

To speak on hypocrisy for a moment, "drfunk", I have to say, for someone so abruptly attacking another for improper grammatical form your last post was really poorly worded and structure. You truly must be the simpleton in this regard, for my own sake.

Shabazz Palaces – Swerve... the Reeping of All That Is Worthwhile (Noir Not Withstanding) Lyrics 12 years ago
This is a lyrically dense track with great production and a wonderful closing sequence (the "black is you, black is me, black is us, black is free" bit). This is definitely a song worth analyzing.

This is a truly great tribute song. The Ol' Dirty Bastard samples are quite touching and Raekwon accompanies it with the perfect sound.

"I don't understand why you think the popular kids concerned with status would be seen hanging out in the street. It seems like you're just projecting your own opinions into this song." - I don't even know how to respond to this. Isn't anybody who is attmepting to analyze a song simply projecting their own opinion onto it?

Edan – I See Colours Lyrics 13 years ago
The way the elements of 1960's psychedelic pop coalesce with modern hip-hop is quite original and makes for a wonderful listen on this song; along with "Fumbling Over Words That Rhyme" this is the best song off "Beauty and the Beat" (2005).

Delorean – Seasun Lyrics 13 years ago
The sun keeps a-phasin' on? You're not even close on this one. I'm curious as to why you would post these lyrics when you're not even certain what is being sung given his "crazy ass accent". The actual lyrics of, "the sun it hits my face/ hits my face/ and i will never be the same again" should probably be posted as the official ones seeing as how the lead singer of the band said such to a poster on this website. I'm sure he amongst us all is the most capable of being able to discern what is being said, what with it being his crazy ass accent and what not. Regardless, lovely song; especially for this time of year what with the shimmer of the sunshine working nicely alongside the balearic "beatificness" of the songs melody.

But now I'm more inclined to think you're closer with the interpretation of "gonna make you bleed." He may not necessarily even be saying anything at that point, just, "Gonna make you..." followed by his "humming to the heavens" (or in this case, sun) if you will.

Either way, this is one of his most emotionally resonant songs. My initial thought as to what it could be was "Gonna make you mine".

"uh, isaac wrote this song in 1996, before ugly casanova was a twinkle in his eye." - Firstly, how the hell would you know when the idea of Ugly Casnova became a thought in I. Brock's head? Secondly, the studio recorded version of this track was done at the Dub Narcotic Studios in Olympia, WA in 1993, not '96. So, cheers...

Animal Collective – Daily Routine Lyrics 13 years ago
The first sentence is "Just as sec. (as in second) more in my bed." meaning he is aware he has to wake up and do the daily routine thing but just wants to milk the joyousness of sleeping in bed a wee bit longer. How does that not make sense?

No Age – Teen Creeps Lyrics 14 years ago
"because you don't want to end up like the cashier at Safeway with the heroin addict boyfriend." - Yeah, I know; gross, right? I personally think we should gather up every individual with a drug problem, put them in concentration camps and execute them one by one.

Why does 'Teen Creeps' immediately imply drug subculture? To me, this song is tapping into the idea of 'Teen Creeps' being the kind of person in high school who is so concerned with status and image that they live their life based off the cultures ideals rather than cultivating their own sense of morality and individuality. What does doing "bigger and better things" even me in relation to another person's life? Do you think your doing something more "meaningful"? Even if that construct existed amongst humans the people that were truly evolved would be past the point of judging other people for the personal decisions they made with their life. No Age don't strike me as a band that would make individual judgment calls but collective judgment calls; they're attacking the conformity complex that exists amongst the media and major corporations that attempt to make more money by creating an identity that everyone can attach themselves too. The 'Teen Creeps' are the people who are more concerned with appeasing society's ideals rather than their own; the people who would rather have their questions answered for them than do their own investigating. To me, No Age is more concerned with labeling people without an identity rather than the fear caused by feeling your wasting your life through drugs and alcohol and not making an honest, truthful attempt at cultivating your unique, personal potential.

LCD Soundsystem – Losing My Edge Lyrics 14 years ago
Because apparently a person cannot read the comments of others regarding song lyrics out of sheer curiosity and not as a means to try and better understand the songs "meaning". Wow, thank God your parents fucked and created you because without your guidance I don't know if I would be capable enough of navigating the murky waters in this life. Thank you so very much for just existing.

No Age – Dead Plane Lyrics 14 years ago
The "oo-oo-oo" bit is great; it adds a power pop charm to a song with definite punk rock underpinnings.

This song seems to be about a person trying to understand his dynamic with another individual and realizing their egos may clash and he should avoid said individual. He doesn't want to fight nor "buff it on foot"; he is aware of how human relationships are with certain personalities so it is him trying to avoid conflict with another person and making efforts to appease said person to avoid them getting hot-headed, "He needs the room, oo-oo-oo/I don't wanna fight with you."

No Age – Sleeper Hold Lyrics 14 years ago
I initially thought at one point he was singing "With passion there's truth" which I quite liked because to me it implied if one was honest with oneself and expressed oneself with passion, truth would be revealed to them. Now it seems more along the lines of being about an individual who lived a life full of passion to the point of it being self-destructive. With no objectivity or moderation to maintain a balance, he lived a life based purely off feelings and a passion that ended up being his undoing.

NO-CASH – Wilkes Booth Style Lyrics 14 years ago
God! Grow the fuck up. This site is meant purely as a means to give your thoughts about a song, not try to hand over a half-baked analysis and then attack other people on the site for making comments that don't pertain to the "meaning" of a song; especially songs by No-Cash when they make their point in their lyrics SO FUCKING OBVIOUS! You think you're insightful by just reiterating the ideas they present in their songs but just in slightly different capacity. If you want to try and seem cool by degrading other people's feelings about the songs, go and analyze a surreal Bob Dylan track instead of a band whose lyrics require no interpretations given the obviousness of their points in their words.

NO-CASH – Knowledge Is Power Lyrics 14 years ago
You were looking for insight into songs that require for little interpretation and analysis. No-Cash's lyricism is quite obvious and simple in the sense that it doesn't convey its meanings in surrealism or by being cryptic. The meaning to the lyrics are really obvious, dude, so what you were hoping for is right in front of you; no need to rely on other people's opinions of a song that makes its point painfully obvious.

Sigur Rós – Olsen Olsen Lyrics 14 years ago
Actually...I think I may have mixed up this track with 'Avalon', which closes the album. 'Avalon' was the song I was reminded of but 'Olson' was in fact followed by 'Olsen Olsen' on the shuffle...which I guess in retrospect isn't as mysterious but still mildly intriguing given the closeness of both titles. Does anybody even give a shit?

Sigur Rós – Olsen Olsen Lyrics 14 years ago
It's funny, the other day I was listening to my iPod and I had my whole library of albums on shuffle and at one point the track 'Olson' by Boards of Canada from their LP 'Music Has the Right to Children' came on; it's a sort of ambient, short track (about a minute and a half) and because of the name, although spelled differently and having a different meaning (at least I'm assuming they do), reminded me of the title of this song, 'Olsen Olsen' by Sigur Rós. They don't sound all that similar but at the same time not too dissimilar. The opening seconds are rather alike but the point is the titles are rather close in proximity, except for an 'o' in place of an 'e' and when I thought of this song because of the Boards of Canada vignette this track actually came on as the very next song with the setting on shuffle in a library of songs exceeding 2000. What are the odds, that these two tracks would appear back-to-back in the iPod randomization sequencing system and moreover, what are the odds that I would just happen to be reminded of this song at the moment it came on the iPod? Synchronicity seems to be at play here. Could it mean anything, like, from a potentially metaphysical standpoint? Is it a message? About what? Who knows these things...

Dirty Projectors – Stillness Is the Move Lyrics 14 years ago
"If no one creates anything new, what will be the inspiration for future generations?" - I personally think that is a dangerous mentality to have when it comes to creating art, in this case music, because the implication is that we should be creating for the concept of a future, when in reality that doesn't exist, rather than a honest expression of one's self in the moment. I agree people should strive for originality and honesty in their work but it should be about the present, timeless moment and not for some illusory goal like a non-existent future.

Spoon – All the Pretty Girls Go to the City Lyrics 14 years ago
I think your angle in regards to this song's lyrical context is pretty on. The line, "Hear em go do d-do d-do" implies they're simply putting on a front when in reality they fear what they don't know.
