Carrie Underwood – Heartbeat Lyrics 8 years ago
This song is, in essence, what would happen if Luke Bryan had killer pipes and a basic grasp on the English language. Carrie doesn't like love songs, but she picked this one because A) it's an introverted kind of love (running away and just being one with the person) and she and Mike are introverts and B) it's conversational and she finds the conversational aspect more sincere than just singing about love in general. Nice little R&B fusion in the verses.

One year late, but it's an electric generator.

Jeff Buckley – Dream Brother Lyrics 11 years ago
Indeed. Jeff used to tell his mom that he had a recurring dream of walking on the beach with Tim. This is because it was his earliest memory of Tim.

Lana Del Rey – Axl Rose Husband Lyrics 12 years ago
I noticed more GN'R references.

- "Lady Liberty 'til it flame I'm shinin' queen" is a reference to Rocket Queen.
- Blue hydrangea is a blue flower used in wedding bouquets, usually to compliment roses
- "In blue denim I meet you" is a reference to the song "Black Leather."

Okay, Lana's fucked in the head for coming up with this, but I'm pretty messed up, too, for catching all these references. x)

Lana Del Rey – Axl Rose Husband Lyrics 12 years ago
This has got to be the creepiest song, and yes, I've heard the song Dead Skin Mask by Slayer. This tops the creepiness of that song.

"Red, white and blue," a reference to Axl's USA shorts during RIR II?
"Garden of Eden" is a GN'R song.
"Daddy, I need you" -- a reference to Sweet Child O' Mine?
"I need you" -- a reference to Patience?
"Someone come replace you" -- Estranged has the lyric, "I'll never find anyone to replace you."

Okay, I'll stop. But seriously, as a huge Axl Rose/Guns N' Roses fan, this song creeps me out. Like, it makes me uncomfortable. Obviously, it didn't make Axl uncomfortable, though, cos he plowed her.

Samson – Communion Lyrics 12 years ago
Man, it's such a shame that nobody else knows nor cares about this song. :/

This is Bruce Dickinson's finest hour, in my opinion. I've never heard him sing with such raw emotion. It's so moving. His vocals are absolutely mindblowing.

Guns N' Roses – There Was A Time Lyrics 12 years ago
My favourite for sure of of ChiDem. Yeah, I figured it was about Stephanie Seymour when I heard the cocaine and California parts. :P He didn't just suspect she was cheating on him, she WAS cheating on him. Jussayin'.

@DanStranger51, I agree. Buckethead's solo is freaking amazing. The best on the album by miles. I think Buckethead left because he was tired of waiting.

Rush – Time Stand Still Lyrics 13 years ago
If this isn't about The Catcher in the Rye, then they truly have an eerie similarity. Holden's ideals of preserving innocence and simplicity ("The innocence slips away. . ."), his cynical outlook that serves as armor (the chorus and second verse), his wishes that time would cease and change would halt as demonstrated when he talks about the museum ("Freeze this motion a little bit longer").

This indeed is one of my all-time favourite Rush songs, topped only by Xanadu.

The Band Perry – Independence Lyrics 13 years ago
My favourite song off the album! The meaning is pretty straightforward. I hope this sees the light of day as a single, but probably not. :(

Bruce Dickinson – Re-Entry Lyrics 13 years ago
Oh man, I wish more people knew this song so that I can be enlightened about what it's about. Whatever it is, this song is beautiful. I love songs in 6/8 I guess. :D

Carrie Underwood – There's a Place for Us Lyrics 13 years ago
This song actually matches my sister's point of view of her own sexuality. I know this song isn't about homosexuality, but it's nice to think of it that way.

"Exactly who we are is just enough."

Anyway, I really dig this song myself. Great use of head voice in the first chorus and then she belts it out. Brilliant!

Does this remind anyone else of the Ender series?

Does the first stanza remind anyone else of Ender's Game (philotes)?

Actually, these are Bruce Dickinson's lyrics, so they're a LOT more ambiguous. Heck, your story might actually by what was going through his mind.

Probably my all-time favourite song. Eargasmic.

Bruce Dickinson – Navigate The Seas Of The Sun Lyrics 13 years ago
I agree most with Journeyman. There's no way this is about a relationship. I can't hear that at all.

This song is addicting.

Bruce Dickinson – The Breeding House Lyrics 13 years ago
No comments? Do you guys KNOW what Unit 731 is? Some disturbing crap. Bruce captured that well with these lyrics.

I adore the chorus. "A secret that defended by the ones that should have ended it." True story.

I love Kimberly Perry's voice. I can't stop listening to this song. So sad. Really makes you re-evaluate your life and put it into perspective.

I don't understand your question. It was a rewrite of the poem and it follows the poem basically to a tee. I hope I answered your question correctly. XD

No comments? This is my first Bruce Dickinson song. :) It cracked me up, and I love his rapping. Bruce > TI. XD

Bruce Dickinson – Abduction Lyrics 13 years ago
People were disappointed by Tyranny of Souls? It's once again a filler-free album. Abduction's one of my favourites off the record (alongside Navigate the Seas of the Sun, Kill Devil Hill and the title track).

And the video's pretty hilarious. :D

Bruce Dickinson – The Post-Alternative Seattle Fallout Lyrics 13 years ago
I love Bruce B-Sides. So catchy. He shows another side of his voice.

Pretty cool chorus as well.

Iron Maiden – Mother of Mercy Lyrics 13 years ago
Really? My interpretation was that it's a soldier that's dying and praying to the mother mercy to let him go to heaven, to forgive him for his military sins and to spare him from Hell's flames.

Iron Maiden – When the Wild Wind Blows Lyrics 13 years ago
Favourite song number 3 off the record. :)

It's loosely based off of the graphic novel nwbrown mentioned. Steve said in an interview that he'd been planning this song out for decades and that he was trying not to let When the Wind Blows influence him too much. He ended up doing a loose interpretation off of it.

In this version of the story, they couple mistake an earthquake for the nuclear fallout, panic and poison themselves. A bittersweet death.

Iron Maiden – Starblind Lyrics 13 years ago
My number 2 favourite song off the record. :D

I think the song's not necessarily anti-religion, but anti-taking-religion-to-extremes. Mentions of the "Virgins" and whatnot lead me to believe that the narrator, telling a story on his deathbed, is telling the listener that he's seen people give up their lives for religion, for something that's not even necessarily guaranteed.

Best set of lyrics in my opinion. Just stunning.

Iron Maiden – Coming Home Lyrics 13 years ago
My favourite off the new record. So beautiful. A nice little love child of Omega from Bruce's solo record Accident of Birth and Out of the Shadows of AMOLAD. He sings with such conviction and a beautiful solo toward the end just makes the song that much better.

The theme of the record seems to be journeys in general, not Maiden's retirement (although WTWWB scared me as it sounded a tad like a swan song). Coming Home is just about flying home to Britain (Albion's land) and the feeling behind the wheel of a Boeing 757. I just love that lyric:
"Stretched the fingers of my hand, covered countries with my span
Just a lonely satellite, speck of dust and cosmic sand"

Chills.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's about El Dorado. . .
Man, I can't wait for The Final Frontier! One of the tracks, again, bears the same name as a Bruce Dickinson song unfortunately. That's two for the people keeping tab. ;D

Seeing Maiden June 19th, one day before my birthday.(:

What a chorus, man. Best Skunkworks song by a mile. I agree with Turbo Speed, it HAS to be about addiction (because if it isn't about that, then my mind will be spinning).

Another Bruce song that appears to be about addiction (along with BFTE). Man, this song has a killer intro. No comments?

Bruce Dickinson – No Way Out... continued Lyrics 14 years ago
No comments on this song? This is one of my favourites of Bruce's solo stuff. I assume it's about him being a vampire, no? Otherwise, I'm completely clueless.

Musically, lyrically, vocally, this song punches you in the face. Just a cool song.(:

Iron Maiden – Childhood's End Lyrics 14 years ago
Best off FotD (next to Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Be Quick or Be Dead and the title track). To me, it's either about the Vietnam War or perhaps it's using the Vietnam War as an allegory for a bildungsroman?

Iron Maiden – Sign of the Cross Lyrics 14 years ago
While the Steve cheating theory makes sense, I couldn't fathom he would do it. He loved his family sooo much that I doubt he would destroy it.

I think it is about the inquisition, or even just simply a man facing judgment for his sins when he was alive.
