Angus and Julia Stone – Jewels and Gold Lyrics 16 years ago
This song’s no doubt about getting high with a friend; it states that clearly in the first few lines. It then tells a story of how it takes him away to another place. Then, “But men in blue knocked on my door,
and said “I’ve come to kill off your kind”, it’s the killing of the mind.”, the men in blue are the policemen, busting them for doing drugs. The reference to circus I think is him hallucinating, as colours, etc. are enhanced through drug use. The second half of the song is the same as the first half but it’s changed around a bit. The ‘men in blue’ are changed to ‘soldiers with guns’ which is again a reference to how his mind is thinking whilst on drugs. Basically the entire song is about drugs and getting caught.
LOVEEE ITTTTTT

Angus and Julia Stone – Here We Go Again Lyrics 16 years ago
All I remember is at Thebarton Theatre, before she sang it, she said about how it was about her and a boyfriend and about how they weren't really that close, or something. I guess it's pretty self explanitary. A love song, pretty cute :D

Angus and Julia Stone – A Book Like This Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about how Julia is in love with someone but they’re being drawn apart. The part that says “The hand that calls you forward is the hand that leaves me behind” shows exactly that they’re being separated by something that seems to be beyond her control. The song then goes on to say “Love is here, love is lost, again tonight” This is further developing the idea of separation and how upset she is about it. “Hold me, hold me tonight” is perhaps what Julia wants to happen, even though she knows it can’t. She’s upset so she wants to be held and the way she is singing it is almost as if she’s crying. The next verse is “You’ve got a book like this, to keep me alive. And if its not a rainy day, you simply don’t go outside” and the listener then comes to the understanding that it may be his insecurities and worries that are preventing them from being together, as if he’s afraid to take a risk. “And you’re tired of everything, all of the girls and the boys, and if you’re tired of everything all of your precious toys.” This says that because he’s not willing to take a risk with their love, he’s restricted and will, or already has become tired of his life. The first verse is repeated, as is the chorus several times. Repetition makes the words stronger and imposes them as an important part of the ‘story’.
All in all, I think she's the only person who'd know for sure.

Angus and Julia Stone – Bella Lyrics 16 years ago
The song becomes something like a description of her life and how he perceived her and her qualities. The song stands out as a tribute and it’s obvious that he’s talking about a specific person. The chorus “Won't you come on home, I built us a flying machine. And well go where you want, we'll sail the seven seas. I hope all is well, in Daisy's dreams” is longing for her to come back, but at the same time wishing her well. It is not until the last verse, where he says “She took to the stars” we realise that she’s actually passed. The lyrics in this song are clever as he addresses a tragic circumstance but in a beautiful way, creating not a sad feeling because she’s gone, but a celebration of the person she was.
Pretty amazing, if you ask me.
