Silversun Pickups – Three Seed Lyrics | 14 years ago |
the song is about visiting an ex very soon after a breakup (pictures on the floor, bottle on the ground), and resuming the relationship with them, despite not really loving them. This ex is cool like the ocean, and burns like a summer home, but falls victim to their own curiosity, as they are confused by the fact that your words and actions don't coincide. Instead of just realising that YOU DO NOT LOVE THEM, they're there thinking, "oh It just doesn't add up." Three seed refers to the three words "I Love You", which you can see from the bridge. "There's the line that is leading," refers literally to the line, I Love You. "Clearly feeding all the things i don't believe in," means the line you just said (I Love You) is feeding the fire of a relationship you know to be one-sided and in your favour. "cut in line to get closer to the source of all the things i'll never belong to" means you forced the situation in order to get closer to this person who you could never commit to. The first verse is one of the deepest i think... The bullet refers to something you're ashamed of, a penchant for manipulation perhaps, which you thought you had under control, but were too confident in your assessment. It's hidden very well, so it's easy to pretend it's not there, but once the opportunity presented itself, you felt that familiar rush, and blurted out the line. |

I say... this song is about a guy who has been a player his whole life thus far, and now he's met his match. It was easy to get her, he made her come just as easily... business as usual for him... but then she did something the other women didn't do... she just got up and left like it was nothing to her, whereas the others fell in love and he could manipulate them. He was trying to play her, but now it's not about that... there's only one way to feel love, mutually, but right now he's fucked because the affection is one-sided, his is the only love there. |

"In the battle for belonging Every doorbell has its code With a stare it can be opened Now you have it now you don't" In the struggle of life, there are ways to get what you want, all you have to do is keep your eye on the prize, but we tend to half ass so we have it at times, and others we don't. "There are buildings there are people Walk around and look up to Every swallow has its season Every gallow has its noon" There's always people that seem tall as skyscrapers, who garner so much respect, look up to them... and rest assured that your time will come, as did theirs... as will the time when those people's necks are hanging from a rope. "By the rythm of your language By the sparkle in your stride Talk in riddles or be candid With a shield or open wide" you can do this by displaying your positive traits, present yourself however you like, just be yourself... and be positive. "The lesson you must learn No one could ever teach Open up and reach for the stars" You have to learn this for yourself... but share yourself with the world, and at the same time strive for excellence. "If you have a way of knowing Every river can be crossed Lose the sparrow that had landed For the one that never was" you can do all this, if you trust that there's a solution to your problems, though it may not be apparent. trade the failed dreams for new ones. haven't quite figured out the last bit |

... cliches... are actually cliches... because they're corny... not because they actually happen... something can be cliche because its just happened a lot in MOVIES. not because it happens a lot in real life. more often than not, the themes are of hope and upliftment... what we need a lot more of (and hence have relatively little of) in a world this dark and treacherous . |

Not the first i heard... but definitely one of my favourites on the album: He's singing about someone he's attracted to, who is very much attracted to him too... but she hides it when she 'keeps her heart so close to her chest" that it confuses him... because there's so much physical and emotional tension between them it's obvious what needs to happen. Its time for action. Yes they could keep talking, but there's been enough talking, the only way to be sure about what they're both feeling is to make it physical... no need to wait, patience is for time-wasters... they've advanced so far, there's no going back, there's no way to undo what they're feeling, and they can't ignore it either. As he talks he sees her defenses drop for a minute and he sees a glimmer of her true self... what she truly wants (him)... but she ignores him out of guilt... she has someone in her life already that she maybe owes her fidelity... but he's like "bitch... take those panties off." |
