Arctic Monkeys – Brick by Brick Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It's very apparent what this song is meant for, the party. I want to feel your love (sex) I wanna melt this soul (drugs) I wanna rock n roll (um rock n rock) it's all there, and um, does anyone know what a brick is? ;) |
Sonic Youth – Sugar Kane Lyrics | 14 years ago |
it is about weed or possibly both, but good weed nugs look like they have sugar on them,....Wait i know! it's marijuana laced with coke! ~Nick |
Joy Division – Insight Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I agree it's like saying "I keep all possibilities open", and i relate very close to regret of wasted time or more like wasted money on drugs while going nowhere ~Nick |
Joy Division – Decades Lyrics | 14 years ago |
as much as i agree with you, he wouldn't have had such an impact on music if it weren't for his death. It's twisted to think that he had the intention of making Closer to haunt the people around him. "where have they been?" ~Nick |
Nirvana – Rape Me Lyrics | 14 years ago |
scratch that, if you meant it was supernatural, i agree with you ~Nick |
Nirvana – Rape Me Lyrics | 14 years ago |
weird is a terrible word to describe art ~Nick |
LCD Soundsystem – Home Lyrics | 14 years ago |
must not have been looking at a bulk of his lyrics because they always dig deeper, he may reference to sex and stuff but i believe this song is about finding your positive energy where you feel most at "Home" and the literal meaning of returning home after a night of partying ~Nick |
LCD Soundsystem – Pow Pow Lyrics | 14 years ago |
good insight, though pow pow seems to refer to multiple things, pow pow of the music, of a bustling neighborhood, the pow pow of the lazy gamer, btw i learned more about my neighborhood ~Nick |
!!! – Infinifold Lyrics | 14 years ago |
pushing implies that time takes you for a ride when presses means it pressures you to move forward ~Nick |
!!! – Yadnus Lyrics | 14 years ago |
That would be funny that they would make two subtle references to Sonic Youth (one being Sunday the song) and the other "they said Brave Men Run", its obvious by the sounds they make with their guitars that they look up to them ~Nick |
Joy Division – The Only Mistake Lyrics | 14 years ago |
it was more factual than say "The Doors" biopic. They wrote alot of the movie based on interviews of the band, Tony Wilson and the book Debbie wrote called "Touching From A Distance." I recommend it for avid fans. There will always be a mystery of Curtis's lyrics. ~Nick |
The Mars Volta – Asilos Magdalena Lyrics | 14 years ago |
you guys are saints, thanx, TMV alone has made me wanna learn Espanol! ~Nick |
The Mars Volta – Eunuch Provocateur Lyrics | 14 years ago |
buh ahahahahahah....not EXACTLY ~Nick |
Gorillaz – Sound Check (Gravity) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i believe that goes with most music, man ~Nick |
Swans – Love Will Save You Lyrics | 14 years ago |
cynothoglys is right, love will blind you (or keep you from feeding the pain in your life) but Gira trys to send the message that love will save your soul, although even though he loves, he can't put a veil over reality ~Nick |
Julian Plenti – Skyscraper Lyrics | 14 years ago |
nailed it, this song really gives lots o' urban imagery and really a sad, desperate feeling overall... ~Nick |
Julian Plenti – Only If You Run Lyrics | 14 years ago |
nah...one: you can't base meaning about the whole song with one line and two: banks is in his selfish lowness phase so all the songs are mostly about him ~Nick |
Sonic Youth – Society Is A Hole Lyrics | 14 years ago |
thurston is expressing his distaste for the modern world most obviously. surrounded by insignificance and the hell of capitalistic society (my friends are girls wrapped in boys/it's running down my street with white power sneakers) my fave line: "we are living in pieces i wanna live in peace" couldn't have said it better myself. many people live their lives dislocated from what makes them happy or could potentially make them happy and (i'm thinking of New York) are harsh to strangers b/c they are just another person walking down the block ~Nick |
Interpol – Next Exit Lyrics | 14 years ago |
you are retarded...no it's not.....haha just joshing, but i'm right ~Nick |
The Doors – Back Door Man Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i think chicken is thinly veiled to mean "cock" so it must describe a homosexual ~Nick |
The Doors – Light My Fire Lyrics | 14 years ago |
lets draw the line folks, music is music and opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and everyone is different ~Nick |
The Doors – Light My Fire Lyrics | 14 years ago |
according to the movie, robbie wrote the song, and jim messed with the melody to sweep down low ~Nick |
Wolf Parade – Modern World Lyrics | 14 years ago |
overdevelopment is the death of us, i'm a witness to it in the eternal-growing Austin, Texas |
Yes – I've Seen All Good People: Your Move/All Good People Lyrics | 14 years ago |
hot boxing is good to any song, b/c marijuana is involved everytime |
Sonic Youth – Master-Dik Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i beg the differ, this was a great choice for an album-closer as Sonic Youth was most def melted on acid at the time, how would YOU have ended an album of such proportions as this one? and yes i do have a point, the title references the mastering company "Master-disk" that the band had to use. my thoughts are that it was a last punk stab at those people (nothing they could do hahaha) ~Nick |
Sonic Youth – Tuff Gnarl Lyrics | 14 years ago |
well, if we commented on what we would censor in music all the time we would be digging up frank zappa's grave, would we not? let it be ~Nick |
Sonic Youth – Stereo Sanctity Lyrics | 14 years ago |
after reading this 3 times and wondering if it just meant nothing i came to the conclusion it has to be drug-realated and recording-related. Stereo Sanctity-has to do with their love for stereo recording (as opposed to using mono) sanctity=holiness the beginning where they yell "seven" has to do with the fact that they would yell the take number for the song when recording. "two speakers dream the same and skies turn red" refers to the left and right speakers and it is my belief that thurston is referencing the apocalypse when the speakers emit the same sounds (blandness) "hey! gold connections analog soul waving in your hair" gold is the best conductor for cords b/c it doesn't cause any buzzing and analog is what style of recording musicians had to use in the 80's until CD's were introduced "hey! hylozoic directions she's talking blue streaks everywhere" hylzoic has to do with the philosophy that all matter has life (maybe suggesting that lsd is a living substance?) and blue streaks is most def an lsd reference as people can usually see sounds as colors (they must have done so much in this period) my last thought is that this song is being recorded and thurston is using his lyrics to communicate to the sound engineer, but hey how can you derive any meaning from a song that was only supposed to only be understood by the arist on acid ~Nick |
Queens of the Stone Age – Go With The Flow Lyrics | 14 years ago |
a little obscure for a sex reference, buddy| ~Nick |
Sonic Youth – In The Kingdom #19 Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i'm sure thurston knew exactly what he was doing, just add that much more of himself into the recording ~Nick |
Sonic Youth – Starpower Lyrics | 14 years ago |
very important distinction, i have reason to doubt this song is about drugs at all ~Nick |
Sonic Youth – Shadow Of A Doubt Lyrics | 14 years ago |
that's either "death to our friends" or the latter portion of "expressway to yr skull" ~Nick |
Joy Division – Twenty Four Hours Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this music is a representation of life, you are ripping on the lyrics of this song, you obviously lack a soul |
Weezer – Across The Sea Lyrics | 15 years ago |
offical lyrics stand correct, juice is correct ~Nick |
Kill Kenada – Choke Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is observations during an ecstacy trip (i got a jedi knight, i'm gunna run all night). a jedi knight is most definately a print on a tab. i have to say it also references Pearl Harbor and possibly the US retailition with the a-bomb "ice cream pavements in the sunshine" peaceful hawaii in the sunshine "blind men walking into failure" the military was not expecting the attack "Moonlit questions on the beachside, where foreign eyes dare to play" The military in Hawaii felt that an attack was imminent, they only "question"ed when. foreign eyes are definately Japan spies "Monday to Thurday's rhyme like sidewinding missiles in the shade of the past" The attack on Pearl Harbor was on Sunday meaning he is referencing the days after the attack in which the US enters the war and retailiate in the "shade of the past" |
Sonic Youth – Silver Rocket Lyrics | 16 years ago |
ok we all know sonic youth is amazing i don't wanna hear a dozen comments about it. anyone know the comments should interpret the lyrics? anyway since i couldn't figure out anything from the other geniuses i will say that this song is dedicated to Thurston's deceased friend Andy Warhol who was a supporter of the pop art movement. lyrics flow suprisingly well and seem to be an artistic tribute. obviously a punk song, it seems to attack NASA for spending too much government funds for seemingly useless missions...("can't stop it, burning a hole in yr pocket") |
