Jason Mraz – A Beautiful Mess Lyrics 16 years ago
The girl's full of contradictions. And even though she's full of ironies, he still finds her beautiful. He finds beauty in the mess that she is. And yes, she's the "best of both worlds" to him.:)

Jason Mraz – Mr. Curiosity Lyrics 16 years ago
This is my FAVORITE song off Jason's Mr. A-Z album mainly because f its melancholy melody and deep lyrics. It's so full of emotion ... and yes, it came at just the right time.

Obviously, this song is about depression and helplessness. Curiosity is the one that keeps the subject interested in a certain thing. And it's an irony that he is talking to "Mr. Curiosity," the one that keeps ones interest going and yet, because of the intrigue, ends up "killing" the person as well. Especially if he's not cautious.

He is pleading and calling on "Mr. Curiosity" to come back to him and keep his interest in life itself alive, most probably because he has just come from a bad break-up or has lost a love that he treasures so much. It's a mystery why he still wants to "live" when the "love of his life" is gone, but he knows that it is curiosity itself which will bring him back to life. He knows that tragedies like these happen all the time, they "mean no harm," but of course, ignoring it will only diminish your own interest.

His helplessness leads him to desperately seek what he has lost, or at least something to replace it. He tries to "sound hopeful," to keep his interest and curiosity going, but of course, he cannot just ignore his recent breakup. He wants to move on without getting stuck, and he calls on Mr. Curiosity for this.

He wants to get over the breakup as fast as possible because he is rapidly losing interest in ... life, in love. He feels like he has analyzed the situation too much, studied it, and he feels like it's time to move on. But he can't without his "curiosity in life." So he asks Mr. Curiousity to "come back from the dead," and return in his life so he can continue on.

Also, he likens curiosity to something that will inspire interest in the person and he knows that there are a lot of things to celebrate, especially the fact that he is still alive (metaphor: "it's my birthday") but he can't seem to do so. He needs the inspiration that curiosity provides in order to move on in life.

"love is blinding when the timing's never right
but who am i to beg for difference
finding love in just an instant
but i don't mind
at least i tried, well i tried..."

The last stanza is a reflection on the things that he has been doing, his damning his life and finding no meaning/interest in it already. He realizes that love itself is a mystery and that he is still curious about what it can offer. He knows that it has offered him something that he would like again. Maybe the timing just isn't right. Maybe life has something else in store for him. He doesn't know what the future will bring, and he's become curious again. But ultimately, even if there's none, he knows that there was some meaning in the love that he has found, even if he lost it. And at least, in the end, he still tried to make it work. And life if more interesting in the fact that things like these happen... :)
