Mumford & Sons – Winter Winds Lyrics 14 years ago
JMenz, exactly.

It has gotten to the point where I don't know if I like people just because I want to like somebody, or if it's an actual thing. This song is amazing and just sums it all up for me.

Jefferson Airplane – White Rabbit Lyrics 15 years ago
The song is about LSD, but also about Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Basically, there are undertones of LSD in the overtones of a childrens book. When this song came out the government was having a big fit over the psychedelic scene and anything relating to LSD, so it's written to not obviously be referencing drugs. "Remember what the dormouse said: Feed Your Head." Definitely does not sound anti-drugs, so enough with the anti-drug campaigns, please.

"i think "That 40 has gone to your head" is kind of making fun of the fact that 40 bucks is so huge to them."

I think they are actually talking about drugs there :)
40 ounces.

Meg & Dia – Monster Lyrics 15 years ago
The child was mistreated at home and neglected. He felt disconnected to everything and he wanted his parents to love him, but they didn't. Obviously, he was socially inept and didn't know how to react to things properly. He wanted to feel how he thought the rest of the world felt. He wanted to be close to someone, but he didn't know how. So he raped a girl and truly became a monster.

It's explained thoroughly in the story. And once you read the story then read the lyrics, it all makes a lot of sense.

William really let go with the lyrics in this album. Everything is so personal, I feel like I'm listening to secrets.

It sounds like someone was hearing all these rumours about their lover being unfaithful, but they never believed them until they caught their lover out themselves.

Steam/condensation is the product of hot water. Smoke is the product of fire. Could it mean that she's burning out?

The structure of the guitar parts in this song are very Radiohead. Very.

Panic! at the Disco – Northern Downpour Lyrics 16 years ago
The "...and flooded lungs" part reminds me of Jeff Buckley. I think that this line in particular is detesting the fact that a common belief is musical genius only comes from drugs. in other languages (?) and from people who suffered early deaths.

"Lying there
With a halo in her hair she cried
There are feathers everywhere
But it's fine
You do this all the time"

- Fallen angel. Lost innocence.

Anyway, I feel this song is about two lovers fighting. I mean, "If you're going then go" and "Fall comes early and summer leaves/As a storm with the car keys." It seems like that would be the answer.

Maybe the guy leaves her alone all the time and she's sick of it.

Panic! at the Disco – Nine In The Afternoon Lyrics 16 years ago
Oh and it's not about drugs you dolt. Your eyes also dilate when you see something you like. If you HAD actually done acid and you read these lyrics you would realise that it ISN'T about drugs. Just because it sounds nonsensical to you, doesn't mean it's about drugs. Ever heard of metaphors?

I'm too lazy to read all 8 pages of comments, but to me this song is about the feeling you get when you're with someone you really love. Like anything is possible. Because you can't get a nine in the afternoon, but they feel like they could because they feel so good together that everything just makes sense.

Beckles has a good idea of this song. I totally agree.
Also with all the Beatles comments; Pretty. Odd is probably the best jump at a Beatles style/influenced sound I have ever heard. It sounds like the Beatles yet still original. It's not for everyone, I know. But I just love it. I just spent an hour or so listening to the Beatles and then put on Pretty. Odd and the transition from one band to the other was so smooth it was hardly noticeable. Amazing.
