Rush – Witch Hunt (Part 3 of Fear) Lyrics 16 years ago
This is a ***** awesome song!! Everytime i hear it I get goosebumps. I agree that the song is about how ignorant people are usually the first to jump in and condemn something without really knowing anything about it.

8992Tiger: I agree that the line "That those who know what's best for us / Must rise and save us from ourselves. " and how in these times we seem to be straying from the idea that we can make our own decisions. I think that Rush would even agree with that statement and I think that is why they purposefully put it on the setlist for the Snakes and Arrows tour.

Rush – YYZ Lyrics 16 years ago
Funny story: I had read that YYZ is the name of the Toronto Pearson airport and that the song was supposed to convey the hustle and bustle of an airport, but my husband did not know this and on a road trip to Toronto he excitedly pointed on the roadmap that he was looking at said "look, the airport is named YYZ, they must have named it after the Rush song!"

I laughed so hard!!!!

Rush – Dreamline Lyrics 16 years ago
This is a song about when we were all young and thought the world was our oyster and that all of our dreams were going to come true. This is a great song and I love seeing it live (with all the lasers).

Rush – Digital Man Lyrics 16 years ago
ChesRockwell, that is a funny story. I once let my husband listen to this song (he's a Physics major and a Computer Engineer) and asked him what he thought it was about and he said he thought it was about a computer hacker who hacks into computers all over the world, so it's almost like he's everywhere all the time. I thought that was an interesting interpretation, seems to fit for me.

Rush – Closer to the Heart Lyrics 16 years ago
This is such a beautiful song. For me it's about how everyone has the potential to fit into the world and contribute to it to make it a better place.

Rush – Between The Wheels Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about how quickly things can deteriorate if you don't keep up. I like how the song points out "Wheels can take you around / Wheels can cut you down" I like the idea that the same thing can either help or harm depending on the situation.

Rush – Chemistry Lyrics 16 years ago
I completely agree with addsseale2: "Sounds like a track about the emotional contact between two people "in sync" with each other. It's an amazingly strong connection, but almost impossible to understand."

This song always seemed to me to be about two people falling in love, especially the line "Signals transmitted / Message received / Reaction making impact -- /Invisibly" It just reminds me of me and my husband and how we can know what each other is thinking just from a fleeting facial expression or how we can finish each others sentences because we are so intimate and know each other so well. It's almost like we don't even need words to communicate, we just have emotions to transmit and receive.

I love Rush! Best band in the world!

Rush – Nobody's Hero Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song examines the difference between what popular media calls a hero (ie: the handsome actore, glamor girl, etc.) and what should really be considered a hero (scientists, people who save others lives) but all too often are forgotten about.

Rush – Far Cry Lyrics 16 years ago
For me this song is about how things in the world can fail to live up to your expectations. It's almost like Rush had this great vision about how wonderful the world was going to be; and now they're dissapointed that their exspectations haven't been met and they're pissed that this "failure of a world" is what they have to pass on to the next generation.

Rush – Red Tide Lyrics 16 years ago
This song was actually the song that got me into Rush in the first place. I'm a real science geek and I've taken a lot of classes on aquatic biology. "Red Tides" occur when phytoplankton (algae and other single-celled organisms) rapidly multiply in the water column and they can actually change the color of the water (to red, brown, purple, green, etc.). Some red tides (called harmful algal blooms) emit toxins that can cause fish-kills and can even make the water unsafe for swimming.

Red Tides are thought to be caused by (among other things) excess pollution run-off, so for me, this song is clearly about the environmental pollution that humans cause (ie: "stay out of the sun, it only burns my skin" and "river running like an open sore"). I especially like the line "too late for debate, too bad to ignore" because it highlights that environmental problems affect us all; we all need clean air to breathe and suitable drinking water but sometimes we chose to ignore these issues.

I also like how the song offers hope at the end with "Now's the time to turn the tide / Now's the time to fight."

I love this song!!!

Rush – The Rhythm Method Lyrics 16 years ago
I love Rush! This song makes me chuckle though because I always think of the birth control method that shares the same name.
