Jack Off Jill – Everything's Brown Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree with ladahlianoir, whether its child abuse from a parent or sexual manipulation from someone else. "if you push me too far, you might believe I'm real." 'You'll take me seriously then, because I'll tell everyone what you did to me' "Everything came clean, Now everything's brown" when the truths out, everything looks dirty because its so messed up. "Don't try to hide it. When you dig to feel" the person who did it to her is cold/unfeeling to have done it, and she's seeing them act like they didn't do it. "You can't erase what you are So don't even try and how can I be truthful When everything I am is a lie" shes also lying, possibly referring to her keeping the secret for them. The annorexia interpretation is interesting, but for some reason doesn't click with me. |
Jack Off Jill – Ugly Girl Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song makes me laugh, but it is not JOJ. -_- Its definitely Weird Al. |
Jack Off Jill – Vivica Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Also, reminds me a little of Delilah by The Dresden Dolls. |
Jack Off Jill – Confederate Fag Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree with most, especially ConfederateFag, and not just because their username is the title of the song. :P It always reminded me of a young girl going along with the 'rebel force,' (a trend/subculture) she didn't really understand them but just went along with it, like they replaced her real family (who were possibly abusive or neglectful) "I guess it was profound..." it sounded like she thought at first the 'rebel force' was something meaningful, even though she didn't really get what they were saying (and actually, it sounds like they really weren't saying anything). "Everyone needs a hero, nobody needs star" She needed someone to save her, but the 'hero' of the rebel force was just doing things for attention. and 'Mr. Anti-Everything' is almost definitely Manson... haha... |
Jack Off Jill – Vivica Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Huh. This song always sounded kind of sarcastic to me. Especially "I wish you well, I really do, I really do." However, looking deeper and because others have mentioned the possibility of Vivica being about the same girl as in Strawberry Gashes, I agree and it sounds now like Vivica is a close friend to the narrator, but she's getting fed up with her self-destructive behavior. Especially now that she's in a relationship with a guy who is obviously just an asshole. "No tender scars/ crooked spine will save you now" Vivica is always playing the victim, and seeking attention, using her weakness to her advantage etc. But her ability to make people feel sorry for her is running out now. "Recalls when she was capable" She's turned into someone who is weak and helpless. She sounds like an emotional cripple or like she has a dependant personality. Strawberry Gashes perhaps comes after this, after she feels guilty about not being more supportive of her. ("Watch me fault her; 'You're living like a disaster'") Maybe the guy is an ex, so "He'll never change" is a warning. "I wish you well" might still be somewhat sarcastic, because she's so disgusted with Vivica's behavior, she's almost given up on their friendship, but still actually cares about her. Even though she's stopped taking her cries for help seriously. (Something she regrets in SG) My interpretation is probably very influenced by my own bias, but so are most people's usually... |
Jack Off Jill – Hypocrite Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I always thought this song would be more interesting if she was being hypocritical herself by writing a song called hypocrite and scolding other hypocrites, but its probably just about other hypocrites. |
Jack Off Jill – Author Unknown Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I really like the Bible interpretation, especially in reference to the title of the song, but I still think its about Manson. I don't think she's overreacting though. She wrote a song. Especially since when you think about it, she knew him personally and all the anger in this song probably isn't just about being left out of his book. |
Queen Adreena – Razorblade Sky Lyrics | 15 years ago |
btw this song is amazing, probably my favorite. If anyone could destroy time and space it would be Katie Jane Garside. |
Queen Adreena – Razorblade Sky Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Well, the firmament is ... "â–¸ noun: the apparent surface of the imaginary sphere on which celestial bodies appear to be projected" Basically, that's where the stars are... so if she's ripping it open, she's destroying the history that the stars have planned. Maybe trying to alter it. Either way, sounds like she's messing with time and space. :P |
Amanda Palmer – Not Mine Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Another thing I thought of is maybe it really isn't hers, as in the guy impregnated someone else while he was involved with her. Maybe a little out there, but just a thought? Mainly because "I'm the only one who knows where you were sleeping" sounds like she's sleeping with him secretly, but then again everyone seems to know about 'it' (the baby). So, maybe he got his girlfriend or whoever pregnant, and everyone is happily saying to him "itll look like you, etc" while she(narrator) was secretly sleeping with him. The more I look at it, the more it fits... |
Daisy Chainsaw – Lovely Ugly Brutal World Lyrics | 15 years ago |
We both smell immensely... I thought it was sweat immensely lol. and I think it is brown eyes, not bare arse.. XD and it also sounds more like 'animal' than odd boy... |
Queen Adreena – Under A Floorboard World Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The first thing I thought of, in regards to the title, was cockroaches. Like how people who don't keep secrets and betray other people to reap the benefits are considered vile and pathetic, like insects. But now I think of Edgar Allen Poe's The TellTale Heart. I can't remember the story very well, but I'm pretty sure that the narrator hid the body of his victim under the floorboards. Then he went crazy thinking he heard the heartbeat from under the floor and told everybody what he did because he couldn't take it. So, the song is what the narrator is hearing as he's going crazy. The victim's heartbeat is sort of threatening, saying, "I'm here under the floor... I know your secret, you killed me... I'm going to reveal it..." So, going with that... she could be saying to someone who did something very vile to her, "I know what you did to me, I'm going to tell everyone." Just my thoughts, I have no idea if they are anywhere near the right track. |
Miranda Sex Garden – Wheel Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I love this song. :) |
Rasputina – Endomorph Lyrics | 15 years ago |
After reading Frankenstein, I realize thats sort of what it reminds me of. |
Scarling – Staring to the Sun Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I like your insight. |
Esthero – Heaven Sent Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Sounds like the narrator is having an affair with a married man in my opinion. I came and saw you left the light on There was no one home at all (His wife or family is out of the house.) Couldn't wait to get your clothes on Shouldn't come around to call on you (He's quick to kick her out of the house before his wife gets home, and she can't ask him for anything.) The taste was sweet and you delivered I didn't know I would feel so high (Sort of obvious...) Well, I guess we didn't have to kill her But don't feel so bad though (I think killing her is symbolic for destroying the wife's life, and the lack of guilt she has for it.) You looked her in the eye And I watched her cry And my mouth went dry (I think that this is referring to a confrontation between the wife and husband about the affair that she witnessed.) Everyone is going to have to die - sometime (Everyone is going to lose their innocence, and its the wife's time.) I'm not heaven sent I'm not heaven sent But I'm broken and bent (Makes me think she wants a normal, loving, pure relationship but she's got herself caught up in this destructive affair and she feels damaged.) That's just what I thought of when I first listened to the lyrics. In general it seems like the narrator is finally feeling the guilt and the immensity of what she's done. Possibly from seeing the wife cry. |
Amanda Palmer – Strength Through Music Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree about the quiet boom and the suicide, but I think its a little weird to feel worse for the shooter than for the innocent people who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time... o_0 |
Howling Bells – The Night Is Young Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree, although I thought 'the night is young' meant that she still has her life ahead of her, so she still has possibilities and good times to look forward too. |
Amanda Palmer – Not Mine Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Please excuse my run-on sentence. |
Amanda Palmer – Not Mine Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The line that really signifies a literal abortion to me is "Keeping this a secret has been murder", She literally had to "murder" it to keep it a secret, and to get on with her life and it isn't hers because it doesn't exist anymore, or similar to the other comments, its more like an alien thing that was put there mysteriously so she doesn't really feel attatchment to it. Also, the song just sounds so creepy and sepulchral that I think it is about a literal death. |
Amanda Palmer – Dear Old House That I Grew Up In Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Aww, these lyrics make me teary-eyeed. |
Rasputina – Transylvanian Concubine Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I definately think its about vampires and that it just doesn't fit with Elizabeth Bathory at all. |
Rasputina – MayFly Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree, like the meaningfulness in our lives could be summed up in just one day. |
Rasputina – Endomorph Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Well, I know this isn't what was intended but the song makes me think of someone who is getting blamed for murder, though they are innocent and generally a good person. and they are known as an endomorph because people don't see them as a person. Sort of. Now the are realizing it doesn't matter if they are nice, they are gunna get blamed anyway. I sort picture an angry torch wielding mob chasing after what they believe to be a monster. Sort of... ^_^;; thats just what I think of. Also aren't the lyrics all messed up? This is what I hear... Morning has broken and what do I see But those same bloody fingerprints following me It don't pay to be careful, don't pay to be nice So it's backwards and forward and back again twice I don't think I'll try it again Guilty was all that I felt until now Go ahead say I'm wrong, but I'm curious how all you People get up and then don't arrrive late. Do you pray every day and then patiently wait? I don't think I'll try again. I'm known as The Endomorph I'm slow, I move back and forth I'm known as The Endomorph Punishment comes for no reason I've seen, but it Stays for a while keeping quiet between what you Said would take place if my big mouth was shut, and I Pray every day and it's all okay but I don't Think I'll try again. I'm known as The Endomorph I'm slow, I move back and forth I'm known as The Endomorph I'm known as The Endomorph |
Howling Bells – Blessed Night Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I thought it was "walk in the light" but I could be wrong. I think the song is basically saying she doesn't need to believe in God to have hope during dark times. She has faith in herself. That's just my impression. |
Scarling – The Last Day I Was Happy Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Even if it sounds similar, there's no reason to think one of them ripped off the other. Especially when it comes to a scream. 0_o |
Miranda Sex Garden – A Fairtytale About Slavery Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think I've read somewhere that there is a sexual connotation to the meaning, like as in sadomasochism. Not sure where I got that from, but anyway this song is beautiful. |
