Echo and the Bunnymen – The Killing Moon Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I always thought this song was about star crossed lovers, but hey, all these different interpretations make me appreciate this song even more. |
Andrew Bird – Anonanimal Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The amount of alliteration and anaphora in this song is amazing! We all know by now that Andrew Bird doesn't really write lyrics with a meaning in mind. He likes funky words that have a nice sound to them. And this here is beautiful: "I see a sea anemone The enemy See a sea anemone And that'll be the end of me" (sigh) I love him. |
Badly Drawn Boy – The Shining Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I too, heard this song on an episode of Queer as Folk. They scene it was used in was beautiful. I think it's about loving someone, but that someone is under a deep depression of some sort, and trying eveything you can to make them feel happy again. Those are my cheap two cents worth. :P |
The Innocence Mission – The Lakes of Canada Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i first heard of this song through the Sufjan Stevens cover ( although i did not know then). I thought it was amazing, 'cause everything that man does is amazing. And it is good. I found out today that it was cover, so i looked it up and to my surprise SOOOOO GOOOOOD! Karens voice is godly. I'm glad i actually looked the up, 'cause they are quickly rising to my favorite artists (i only found them this morning too! :o). |
Black Box Recorder – Child Psychology Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i agree with abi123. i find this song to be very uplifting. "Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over it". Those lines are brilliant. Some of the best lyrics in modern music. |
Sigur Rós – Í Gær Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this song sounds a LOT like pink floyd! |
Sufjan Stevens – That Was the Worst Christmas Ever! Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Andrew Bird – Sweetbreads Lyrics | 16 years ago |
when listening to this song on Fingerlings, did anyone else notice how small the live audience is? It was recorded back in 2002, but that goes to show the popularity he's gained. yay! |
Andrew Bird – Weather Systems Lyrics | 16 years ago |
*she wishes that he doesn't move for a little while. she wants to savor the good moments before they're gone. (yeah. i forgot to put that in) :D |
Andrew Bird – Weather Systems Lyrics | 16 years ago |
hmmm i think this song is about an end of a relationship. she's speaking to him, but he's not paying much attention. "quiet down she said, speaking to the back of his head" that's when she sees all the signs of the end. she opens her eyes and sees his blood flow, his cells grow. he's already moving away from her. and the part about the wine, i also agree that it's about the good moments they've had. she doesn't want it to spill, and since she sees that he's already forgetting she wishes that if he moves (metiphoricaly) all of their good past will spill, thus disappear. and from there i don't know. :D maybe weather systems means the changes in his mind? or the changes happening to them both. "i can see it all from here i can see weather systems of the world." and btw: i loooooooove this song!! probably my favorite song from this genious man. |
Andrew Bird – The Naming of Things Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Andrew Bird – Don't Be Scared Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh, I think this song is about growing up. The seeds falling from the branches of the trees means facing the world on your own, as it often feels like when you grow up. This song, however assures us that we aren't alone. Andrew Bird is the greatest. |
Andrew Bird – Don't Be Scared Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yeah, this song is so lovely. |
Portishead – Threads Lyrics | 16 years ago |
hmmm....when i hear this it goes something more like this: Better if I could find the words to say Whenever I take a choice it turns away I'm worn, tired of my mind I'm worn out, thinking of why I'm always so unsure I battle my thoughts I find I can't explain I've travelled so far But somehow, I feel the same I'm worn, tired of my mind I'm worn out, thinking of why I'm always so unsure I'm always so unsure I'm worn, tired of my mind I'm worn out, thinking of why I'm always so unsure I'm always so unsure (I'm always so unsure) I'm always so unsure (I'm always so unsure) I'm always so unsure Riddle of life When will I sleep? When will I know? Where do I go? I can't find No one to blame Tears and tears Tired, I'm worn Tired, I'm worn Tired, I'm worn Tired, I'm worn Tired, I'm worn Worn Where do I go? still, this song is frightning and real. i've felt like this before. beautiful song. |
