It is wrong for all of you to associate this song with heroin because you saw it on trainspotting. lou reed certainly didn't write this song with the intention that it would fit nicely into a movie. heroin was a big part of lou's life and he acknowledges his drug use through other obvious & direct songs like heroin. but this song is first and foremost about a person transforming him from his reality into this other world where he feels worth while & good. and this feeling of being in a make believe world & escaping reality is what he hangs on for; if thats the world created by drugs or by this person who he spends this 'perfect day' day with...it's what he lives for. |
