The Postal Service – This Place Is a Prison Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this one is pretty obvious. It's the singer's distaste at the emptiness and lack of meaning in life. He's hollowed out by people's inability to have fun without being straight.

'This place is a prison'
Earth, life is a prison

'And these people aren't your friends'
How can people be your fiends if you're afraid to show your true self in front of them?

'Inhaling thrills through $20 bills'
Coke is normally snorted through rolled up money, since everyone caries a bill on them.

'And the tumblers are drained
And then flooded again and again'
Whiskey is normally drunk from tumblers. They are emptied and filled repeatedly on a night out.

'There are guards at the on-ramps
Armed to the teeth
And you may case the grounds
From the Cascades to Puget Sound
But you are not permitted to leave'
Reinforcing the 'prison' metaphor here.

'I know there's a big world out there
Like the one I saw on the screen
In my living room late last night
It was almost too bright to see'
This is metaphoric. He's saying how he can't believe that he lives on the same planet as those shown on TV. He seems detached from it all.

'And I know that it's not a party
If it happens every night'
He knows the people who are out all the time have nothing to celebrate. They are just numbing existence.

'What does it take to get a drink in this place?
What does it take, how long must I wait?'
Admitting defeat here. He's acknowledged the hollowness of this existence, but knows that he is just as much a part of it as everyone else. He knows his reasons for doing it, but continues anyway.

Coldplay – Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love Lyrics 16 years ago
reign of love is beautiful.
the piano is like a rainbow raining colour onto a grey, drab world, and washing our mundane existances. it is carried high and low, swirling and gradually growing and then fading away...best piano piece Coldplay have done....amazing.

I dont even need to hear what he is saying, the noise his voice is making is amazing,

Coldplay – Strawberry Swing Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about Chris Martin watching his children play on a strawberry coloured swing. He said that being a Dad was the best thing to ever happen to him, and this song is something reawakening in him through his children.

We all know the feeling, those moments spent when nothing can possibly go wrong. And just being away from life is a blessing, watching your two children playing on a swing.

I love how he comes to realise at the end that he thinks the weather is making a perfect day, but it is infact his love for those that surround him that makes a perfect day. the sky could be blue, it could be grey. and it really doesn't matter.

fantastic un-expected track :)

A Silver Mt. Zion – Pretty Little Lightning Paw Lyrics 16 years ago
if you go on the ASMZ website, the picture that accompanies the lyrics to this is a dog in a cage in an animal testing facility. so i think personally that is what it is about.
the lyrics make sense in this context...free born...break the bars with piss and scars...lightning paw could be some kind of electrolysis testing taking place on the animals
