This song is so inspiring. I know we've all had those few songs in life that just feel like they were written for us, & this is one of mine. :] Especially the bit about "don't be sad, i know you will. True love will find you in the end." Story of my life; no matter how much someone is hurt over love, it's no good telling them not to be sad, because we know they will. But if they just sit tight, true love will find them. :] So lovely! |

I think this song is pretty self explainitory. I think it's about a boy who loves a girl, and of course he's not "her man". He really just wants to take her away from where they are and show her a good time, to make her happy. But he also realizes that even if he did that he "still wouldn't be her man". It's a wishful thinking song, I believe. It's a very sweet song, but also sad, you know? My favorite bit is "We can run all night and dance upon the architecture come & take my hand I'll be the very best I can" So catchy. It always puts me in a good mood. :] Probably my favorite off the CD. |

I feel like this song is very out of place on the album because of its happiness and what not... This album is mostly about life after death and the demise of humans and ect... So the only sense I can make out of this song being on this album where they're telling a story would be if this is part of the afterlife. Now that he's dead and the girl he loves is dead, perhaps they can do all those romantic things that they coudlnt' do in life. Wake up everyday next to eachother and go swimming off the coast of some tropical paradise. Now that they're together in the afterlife "[they] can do anything [they] want to" because there are no limits anymore. They don't have to worry about problems because they are dead. Ofcourse I may be completely wrong, and probably am, but it's just a theory to make it fit with the rest of the album. |

I think this song isn't about child abduction so much as it is about growing up and losing your innocence. The childhood innocence has gone missing, it's been lost forever. The "bigger, blacker things" are the things that cause us to lose our innocence. "kids grow up and kids get numb" When we're little we feel so much about every little thing. Everything matters to us, even the dumbest little, most ridiculous thing. As we grow up we grow numb to things, we begin not to care about the things we used to care about, we lose our passion the more we lose our innocence. It's just a theory though. |

The girl is in love with "a stone" which would be his headstone, and she cannot bring herself to get over the deceased person. Though it may seem like the song is disrespectful to the dead, I think it's being told by the boy who loves the girl, and he just wants her to get over her boyfriend so she can be with him. | |

Well, to me I think this song is about our economy to a degree. Talking about how the smokestacks burn up our bills, could mean that the goods produced in the factories (which have smokestacks) are eating away at our money, the way we buy such useless things all the time. I think the whole heavy boot thing is... i'm having trouble trying to word it... hmm... I guess our souls? How our souls have become so heavy and hard. Our own souls weigh so much now, it's hard to move through our day to day lives. We can't lift our feet anymore, so we have to crawl with our hands. I hope that made sense. =] |
