Scott Matthews – City Headache Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I found the lyrics to sound similar to these- but regardless, it's wonderful music. City headache, Subsides your dreary tongue Send a doctor to my house Got me a fever of comin' round the bend A heavy bus load of danger Strange talkin' you're sending me to bed 'Cause I ain't walkin' in my state A temperature that will not go away So let it build up in my head, my head Prescribed pills just sow 'em down the sink 'Cause in the hills is my cure No city headache to knock on my front door No spewing faces, but me Your output level presigned it to my ears a bleaking signal from your mouth Some cleansing water to wash away the grime The city laughter on my face, my face It's not for me, the speed in which you walk Would burn the soles of my feet Congested and choking from the fog of Chain-smoking freak shows That's how it goes, so you just find the road And pack your bags and go back... home. |

Mew – Apocalypso Lyrics | 14 years ago |
yeah sorry, i guess i should have used more words haha- but thats basically what i meant that medicine and drugs aren't always the solutions to problems- we just need to think/talk through them and help one another. but i completely agree with you. |
Minus the Bear – Into The Mirror Lyrics | 14 years ago |
haha not lyrically. |
Melpo Mene – Under the Moon Lyrics | 14 years ago |
you're totally right- haha i guess i just wanted the song to be a little bit more positive, thanks! |
Grizzly Bear – This Song Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i always thought that this song was more about heart-break; and just never being able to get over someone, that's why it's amazing that even throughout all the pain endured because of a break-up- you still love that person just as much. bittersweet. |
Sufjan Stevens – Springfield, or Bobby Got a Shadfly Caught in His Hair Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i think that this song is about the infedelity of a man catching up to him, it begins with him taking a job offering from a woman as a "messenger man"- hoping to not become and 'all american' man who died in the war or working himself to death (not entirely sure) and so the cheating continues and he tries to run away from the fact that he had cheated but the thought (the shadflys) follow him until he find himself explaining himself (the aftershave) to his wife when she found the shadfly or (figured out he had cheated on her) and he strives to explain himself but its too late. that's all that i could really pull together to make something out of the song; one fo my favourites for sure off avalanche. |
Band of Horses – The Funeral Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i thought it was about god as well, that he can't wait for his own funeral so that he can go up to heaven and question god about all that he's created and pretty much ask him why |
Minus the Bear – Guns and Ammo Lyrics | 14 years ago |
basically, what i get out of this is that it's a relationship thats just been going no where for a while to the point where the two now hate one another, but.. threaten to ruin each other's lives- somewhat? |
Minus the Bear – Into The Mirror Lyrics | 14 years ago |
and here are some differences that i hear: "They got a mirror FOR THE caine in the bathroom" then the second chorus sounds like it's: "she signals, you get what you PLAY for and we could play a lot you get what you PLAY for but you do it for the taste of a good high you do it for the sake of a hot night" anddd "she senses the FEAR in him" i'm pretty sure that that's what i'm hearing |
Minus the Bear – Into The Mirror Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i love this i love this i love this! cannot wait for the album, its the happiest sounding minus the bear i think i've ever heard <3 |
Mew – Panda Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i dont know why but what came to my mind at first was that the character was with a girl that he really liked and they ended up breaking up because of something or another and in their past he never liked horses something the girl loved and so to be with her again he says he'll try to like horses just one of those little things that matter in a relationship, i dont know if im making sense but thats what i got out of it. anyways, beautiful song <3 |
Mew – Apocalypso Lyrics | 15 years ago |
the line "the psychiatrist posing as psychologist" means that the psychiatrist (pretty much a psychologist who can prescribe medicine) is posing as a psychologist (someone who cares about the individual and doesn't care about the money that follows the medicine). just a thought. |
Mew – 156 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
that's what i was thinking i was going to ask if anyone else saw the connection with the great gatsby, glad someone else thought so too. |
Radical Face – The Strangest Things Lyrics | 15 years ago |
for me, it's as if the narrator used to be in love with a girl - or was obsessed or stalked her whichever and the memories or her ar haunting him and he's slowly losing his mind because he needs to be with her. and then the rest the song kind of represents him going crazy, in a murderous style so he could be schizophrenic and the things he's seeing or hearing (the ghosts) are telling him to get her with the knives in their hands. and the strangest thing thats happening to him, is what he's feeling when he see's her leaving it as a cliff hanger - whether or not he kills her or not. haha, i don't just my interpretation. |
Radical Face – Welcome Home Lyrics | 15 years ago |
first radical face song i've ever heard, and it just gives you that feeling i don't know how to describe it but it just makes me think a lot. personally i thought the song was about, for some reason, towards the end when its about a funeral. "Here, beneath my lungs, I feel your thumbs press into my skin again " at the wake when you go up to see the body, i don't know why but thats the image i get. and it kind of seems like there could be two narrators in the song. between the person dying and someone close to them. another way to say that those that pass on are always with us i dont know, i love it though. |
Radical Face – Wrapped in Piano Strings Lyrics | 15 years ago |
the idea of a ghost being a memory is really cool, i really love this song and agree with bluesky i reallyy want to go and blast this album and drive around some deserted road haha |
Explosions in the Sky – What Do You Go Home To Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i don't understand how you can define any explosions song as simple. this song is really beautiful, i view it as a dream that turns into a nightmare only exposing a person to the harsh reality of their life. |
Animal Collective – My Girls Lyrics | 15 years ago |
or maybe "or to take part in a vicious way" maybe? |
Animal Collective – My Girls Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i'm not sure but i think i hear: "I don't care for fancy things Or to take part in a 'vicious' race And children cry for the 'man' who has A real big heart and a father's grace" and i agree that it sounds like "there isn't much that i feel i need" some of the words just aren't audible the first time he says them |
Alkaline Trio – Over and Out Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i agree with crowmisfits for the most part; the first two characters are relating to matt's grandmother and the family member who killed himself after the war. but, the next two characters i feel is an old/young man which ever who has found the love of his life and has run out of time whether naturally or in an accident. the last character i don't know why but i've always thought of a poor lady who wasn't able to pay the rent or her debts and the credit card companies would always call and after death she wouldn't have to answer the phone anymore, but what crowmisfits said makes sense too. ,my friend and i were talking about the song the other day and he felt that the man saying that he loves his wife more than lived relates to the lady how she didn't want to hear the news anymore and could not live without her man. so many ideas, but anyway this song is powerful. |
Andrew Bird – I Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i oddly feel the same way haha |
Sufjan Stevens – John Wayne Gacy, Jr. Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i think the song's actually about john wayne gacy's son.. john wayne gacy jr. hence the title of the song. gacy hated his son, and so he had to live through life knowing his father hated him and beat him and then later finding out that he had murdered 33 or how many people it actually ended up being. sufjan writes the first part in third person it seems, and then first person as john wayne gacy jr ( john jr probably thought that he was predestined to be like his father it makes more sense if you look at they lyrics. |
Minus the Bear – The Pig War Lyrics | 16 years ago |
my favourite minus the bear song. there's just something about it. "its been so long that it seems like i've never danced with anyone" - my favourite too |
Built to Spill – Twin Falls Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i think this song is about abortion, think about it. the first paragraph is about i'm guessing her feeling insecure at such a young age of two. then the next two paragraphs are about the one who knocked her up and how they knew each other at a young age. (that's the closest interpretation i could figure out to match the rest) "My mom's good she got me out of Twin Falls, Idaho Before I got too old You know how that goes" - she aborted him, in twin falls idaho where she grew up, before he got too old like too big to abort or for anyone else to notice "That's where she still was the summer she turned 17 In 1983 Two weeks after me" - and i think this part means that she went back to her normal life even two weeks after the abortion "Last I heard was she had twins Or maybe it was three Although I've never seen But that don't bother me" - and this part, i'm guessing that it's saying she ended up having kids later on but this "aborted baby" won't ever see them because of course he isn't with them anymore eh, eh? anyone else see this? that's just the first impression i got when i heard the song |
Built to Spill – I Would Hurt A Fly Lyrics | 16 years ago |
personally, i think this song is about taking the blame for someone else. he took the blame from this girl, who's trying to keep and angelic image "or do you rub your wings together" and "it's connected to the problems that I won't take for an answer" it's him not accepting the fact that he had to take the blame, and i think the song's inferring that he once did something wrong (hurting the fly) so, he let's her go to sleep feeling as bad as him because she actually did something wrong this time but so does he because he took the blame for her.. sorry that sounds really confusing, but it sounded right in my head. just a little bit of my interpretation. |
Bright Eyes – The Calendar Hung Itself . . . Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Well, the clock’s heart, it hangs inside its open chest With its hands stretched towards The calendar hanging itself But I will not weep for those dying days" my favourite lines, i just love how he sings the entire song especially the you are my sunshine this song is amazing, it's at the top for the best brighteyes song for me. |
Wax On Radio – Today I Became a Realist Lyrics | 16 years ago |
MYTJOEG you can't say that when you haven't seen the band live. By the way everyone, wax on radio is the greatest band ever in the universe to see live my heart melts every time. Check them out when ever you can |
Brand New – Missing You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
hands down one of my favorite of brand new's songs, it's such a happy yet sad song. personally i think it's just about jesse thinking about someone who passed away (doesn't matter who, it's still emotional) and his acceptance of it. it's beautiful. |
Brand New – Limousine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
yeah, it's really weird listening to the song now because i always used to think that it was about a guy and a girl and he was drunk and got into an accident and she wouldn't forgive him neither would god. but, the story about katie is really sad it's hard to think that anything like that could ever happen. |
Explosions in the Sky – A Poor Man's Memory Lyrics | 16 years ago |
whenever i listen to this song, i always think of an old man who has lost his memory and can't remember his family, his past anything and the beginning of the song represents the struggles the family goes through to help their father/grandfather remember.. and as the song continues the music is more intense and i feel that it shows he's starting to maybe remember something and then the big climax comes which i think represent the old man's memories of the war (which would explain the drums) and all those painful memories return to him and he just wants to forget again.. and he forgets or doesn't want to think about anything because he's afraid of remembering starting the song almost all over again.. that's just my interpretation though, explosions opens up so many endless possibilities. |
Explosions in the Sky – The Only Moment We Were Alone Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this is my favorite song by explosions, it blows me away every time i listen to it. it gives me that strange feeling in the pit of my heart, and just brings up all this mixed feelings with the people in my life, and the ones i love/want to be with.. it's really just amazing this is what music is supposed to sound like |
