Lsd and word song= amazing imagery flying through your mind faster than the speed of light. A true syd song, showing us that the song is just the surface, everything else is inside each of our heads, interpreting it differently in based on civilization, age, or ny other form of setting. |

"means five miles and everyway for you" is about what music means to us. He is showing you that you expect the song to be a personal thing that relates to you and has meaning specificlly tailored to you, but the milky way is a huge place, and nothing is related to you unless you take it as such. That's what i got from this song, but yeah i wa on acid when that came to my mind. Syd was lonely in the milky way and he remembers the days when he was able to smile, be happy. Its an expression of his depression with reality, and he got to obsessive thinking beyond the simple human issues, like the loneliness and lack of reasoning in the universe. |

I think its both a praise and mocking of pop artistry at the same time. KInd of like the milky way song. Syd just went all out stripping poetry of the mystique but still retaining the magical feeling that makes music improtant to us. |

Amazing song. terrapin comes up in the dictionary as "any of various aquatic turtles", which relates i guess to the slow tempo of the song. I always understood it as go slow and enjoy life, since everything we do is meaningless in the end. Find someone to love and enjoy while it lasts, no? |
