Toby Lightman – My Sweet Song Lyrics 16 years ago
i cant believe no-ones posted anything!
ok well ill get the ball rolling, i think its about her and her previous partners 'song' that they would listen to and cherish together. but now 'that old love is gone' whenever she hears the song 'it hurts her to hear the melody that was good to her before' as now it only reminds her of pain and loss.

obviously this is my own interpretation as it relates to moments i've experienced throughout my own life. great song though!

Jack Johnson – Symbol In My Driveway Lyrics 16 years ago
its about consumerism.
"what is man without his wealth"
these days, he's nothing. we are born into the first generation in which a beggar reminds us of nothing.

Jack Johnson – Sitting, Waiting, Wishing Lyrics 16 years ago
i recently saw jack in concert and he said this song is about his friend that had fallen for a girl that wasn't really into him. And so Jack's friend would just stick around this girl waiting for her to change her mind so jack wrote this song to tell his friend to get over her

Jack Johnson – If I Could Lyrics 16 years ago
i think when he says 'down the middle drops one more grain of sand' he's talking about a timer and how each grain of sand falling represents time. this is such a beautiful song, it perfectly represents the hopeless feeling of wanting to change something so badly you'd give your life, but you just can't.

Jack Johnson – Gone Lyrics 16 years ago
the best things in life can't be bought people.
this song is about todays society and how it brings us up to believe that the value of our lives is measured by how many 'things' we own. well in the end these things don't matter, its our souls, our minds and love and thats it. beautiful song, such a hard concept to put into song but he manages everytime.

Jack Johnson – Go On Lyrics 16 years ago
I recently saw Jack in concert and before he played this song he explained that he wrote it on a very bumpy flight to Australia and it made him consider all aspects of life, about how easily it could be lost and how when the day comes where we pass everything we've done will go with us, so perhaps we should be living vicariously so we can leave something behind. the start of the song he said was meant to represent the reactions of people who didn't embrace this philosphy and how he eventually realised that he had to let them 'go on' and live how they choose, even if 'theres so much more he has to say'
