:madamedivine - This song can have lot of interpretations. One of them could be this is about god, but more likely if it's about god, then it's not about Him himself. It's about woman who's trying to pay fine for her sins (buying stairway to heaven), :Chad_A_Saxton - Please don't send replies here three times, it's spamming. And for your reply on my post I have something to say too :-) I told that to my brother who also likes rock music. And he answered me same as you did. That it isn't about drugs, but about Syd Barret. Yes, it's about their "used-to-be" friend, but it's drug connected too. His state of mental illnes was caused by taking drugs, especially LSD in big quantities. So it's also about drugs, how they make his friend ill. He left Pink Floyd cause he has different attitude than rest of band. And again, why ? Cause he was in different state then other members was. Reason was drugs. |

Another long ballad, Hotel California - also about drugs. Shine on you Crazy Diamond - insane state of mind caused by drugs. :-D heh ... The Doors songs - no comment's are needed. Great song. Very beautiful. His suicide can also be caused by overwhelming feelings in space. Tom experienced something what noone has ever tried before. He's first and he can't stand the freedom of space. Calm, clean space. I think this song is tribute to space. |

You all had good comments there. My comment will be not so good and not so "deep-thoughed-after-long-research/experience". But, I simply like this song and how I can see, I'm not alone. Following words will be my opinions, so take them as what I feel when I'm listening this song. This song isn't rock song. There is acoustic guitar. It's like only cause they are trying to bring your attraction only to lyrics. Cause this song was made only for it's message. Rest of Pink Floyd band wishes to have Syd Barret back. But they also know, that it's not possible. They're only wishing. These differences (hot ashes from tree etc.), can it be difference between normal people and insane brain ? Right now I see the Sydyoucrazydiamond comment and I see it his way too. Nobody can fully feel and understand this song. We can know what this song is about, understand what lyrics want to tell, but we aren't Pink Floyd members. They are only ones who can fully understand the depths of these words. I think :) |

This song seems to have only meaning - Raw and rough lyrics (not in bad way, they're good, but they're telling us dirty things). But you're right, it could have more then one message to us. Anyway, it's a great song ... like almost all of them on The Wall album. |
