Lana Del Rey – Diet Mountain Dew Lyrics

This comes after the first chorus:
Hit me, my darling, tonight
I don't know why but I like it
Got to get back to the wild
Give it up, give it up
Live it up, live it up |

One of my favorites from the new album!
A few corrections, if I'm searing this right:
The doctor, too, from down below* (not the road)
'cross the wild and windy night
I think "You've got bad ease" might be "bodies" |

I know these are incomplete. Sorry. If you can, please fill in the blanks/make corrections! I'm dying to know what's being said. As for the meaning, I believe it's about an alcoholic woman. |

"I'm not sure about why your doubts would be in your mouth or why you would need to push them to the side..."
You're taking it too literally. She just means not to doubt yourself, and push any doubts you might have out of your mind. |

Lily Allen – Guess Who Batman Lyrics

You don't have to be American to know and care about its politics. America is one of the most powerful countries, and it affects others. Plus, I'm sure Lily spends some time here. So it COULD be about George, but who knows. |

Jenny Lewis – Pelican Bay Lyrics

This song is about a prison in California called "Pelican Bay."
It's "free weights," by the way, not "waits." |

Jenny Lewis – See Fernando Lyrics

That aside, I think this song is actually about someone who's let go of their religion.
This person "tired of falling to their knees" to pray, and tired of talking about it. Now they've let loose and are living a carefree life, hence the narrator (or Jenny) tells them to go see Fernando, "he'll buy a bottle of suds for you and everyone." |

It's interesting how a few lyric inconsistencies change the meaning of this song, heh.
"He'll buy, bottle the suns for you and everyone." turned out to be incorrect, as was "DVDed or TVed." I corrected them from Jenny's site with the official lyrics. |

Obviously about the second coming, but with a twist? Forget about salvation, and destroy everything, apparently.
Great song. |

Sounds like references to having sex. Awesome song, though. |

"I doubt any self respecting artist would choose "stabbed in the heart" to imply a literal stabbing."
Why not? What's so ridiculous about that? It doesn't mean they lack respect for themselves even if it were literal. The cliche bitter lover from a bad relationship sounds even less self-respecting, if you wanna put it that way. |

M83 – We Own the Sky Lyrics

It sounds sort of apocalyptic. I get the sense that it's explaining the destruction of the Earth, among other thing. "We kill what we build," and "Burnt stars crying," perhaps meaning the end is what is coming. |

Maia Hirasawa – Crackers Lyrics

I think the upbeat sound of this song sort of hides the lonely lyrics. It's hopeful, but there's still despair; a sense of wariness, and uncertainty. "She" so desperately clings to the possibility of a relationship with this man to escape her lonely life, but can't help but think about all the things that haunt her mind in the nights. In a sense, I can relate. |

I get this get a great, warm feeling every time Bejar says "fucking around." It's so great to hear his voice use vulgar words like that - it's almost unexpected even after listening to all of his music, in a way, and maybe even a little endearing. |

Islands – Creeper Lyrics

It makes me think a bit of a murder mystery type thing, too. As if he's retelling the story of his own death by a burglar, or rather, the "creeper". It's chilling. Such a good song, though. |
