Lil' Wayne – Prom Queen Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Hmm, System of a Down riffs and generic lyrics. This man is a genius. |
John Frusciante – God Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It makes sense to me, but it'll be hard to explain. For the lyrics, he's taking the role of God. Here's the breakdown: So each day would be new I build you to sleep That’s the idea of dying but you’ll just have to see - Pretty self-explanatory first line. God requires you to get sleep so that it seems like a new time period/phase begins when you wake up. The same with death; when you die, it's like sleep in that when you wake up, you are in a new phase of being. You can do what you want or so you think - I'm missing any deep meaning here but it's just underlining that you're not free, you're bound by Gods laws (such as inevitable physical death). But till you stop all your thoughts You are tied to your surroundings - If he means 'thoughts' in the physical brain sense, then it's saying that you can't escape the physical world until death. If he means 'thoughts' in general existence, then unless you somehow cease to exist, you can't escape it (Lol, I can't explain this last point really). When the fog spreads out in the rainy season It comes from my insides - God controls nature, etc... Basic stuff. When the thunderous lighting strikes down You’re seeing your real I - Once again about how God is apparent. The second line refers to how, in Christianity at least, God built humans in his own likeness, so God technically 'appears' to be you. People You blaspheme my name But still I love you Still I love you I love you just the same - God is merciful. I hear all your prayers because I’m each one of you - Once again with how humans are built in God's likeness. Creation's not something I did It’s something that I do - Kinda rejecting deism (belief that God created the universe and has a plan but doesn't interfere with anything anymore) here. He's saying that God is actively involved. The reason for the bad is so that there’d be such things as good - Nice line here. I guess it's self-explanatory. We'd never have defined something to be 'good' if there was never any 'bad' to relate it to. We'd be content with everything. Oh I’d do anything for you You all know I would - God is like that. Be for me Be for me Be for me - Once more, humans in the likeness of God. God made us so that we can live in his image (or something like that). Before me Before me Before me - I'm guessing this is what it said in the lyrics book. I really don't know how this relates. Maybe he's relating to some of the other songs' (on The Empyrean) meanings, specifically After the Ending, where he says "No thing has ever become nothing/Nothing has ever become something." Time has no beginning, no end; "Before me" doesn't actually exist since God is eternal. You know that I try to repair and repay As life goes by a thousand times It gets a little better - God is still involved in the world. As time (what is time really?) progresses, life gets better, living is easier (and don't give me that Global Warming, Poverty, World Hunger crap). All is belief, All is belief, All is belief, All is belief. - You just gotta believe. |
John Frusciante – Central Lyrics | 15 years ago |
You have to view it in the context of the album and, of course, if you want to know what John was thinking when he wrote these lyrics, you can read his blog which says that this song is about rebirth. Otherwise, I came on here to say that this song immediately enters my all-time top favorites. |
Scars On Broadway – Kill Each Other/Live Forever Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think that the kill each other/live forever part refers to the fact that lots of people want eternal youth/life and whatnot but that's impossible if we keep killing each other (e.g. war). But, once again, I'm not good at this stuff, I just provide the lyrics. |
Scars On Broadway – Cute Machines Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Jump, pogopogopogo Bounce, pogopogopogo There had to be a song like this on this album, it was inevitable. Meaning: technology, we love it, we can't get enough of it, it's gonna take over the fuckin world. |
Scars On Broadway – Universe Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is the gem of the album. I love it. End of the world (or a rebirth), sun exploding or something. Mother could refer to mother nature. I'm never good at finding deep meanings. |
Scars On Broadway – Chemicals Lyrics | 16 years ago |
LET'S GET ready to rock AS I piss on your face Also, cover > covers, sobber > sober, compromize > compromise. minor corrections. I'm just a spelling nazi. |
Arcade Fire – The Great Arcade Fire Lyrics | 16 years ago |
emueyes got it right. Old Arcade Fire sucks (the 2001 demo), sounds just like all the popular bands of today. Win's voice is the only thing that gives it a slight Arcade feel. I think in the last stanza, he says "I feel so stupid sometimes" a couple of times. |
Arcade Fire – You Tried to Turn Away My Fears Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song and "Can't Let Go of You" is obviously not Win singing. I think someone pulled a fast one and added those two tracks to the supposed "2001 demo" circling the web. |
The Hives – Fall Is Just Something Grownups Invented Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's "The bottom line of the story..." Also I don't think it's "Halloween is a gas" that just sounds retarded. |
Scars On Broadway – They Say Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Continuing SOAD... same ol' same ol' political stuff. Song is alright, kind of boring with the same guitar riff throughout and no real change. |
The Raconteurs – Consoler of the Lonely Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yeah, I was stuck between check and track. I guess it doesn't really matter either way. |
The Raconteurs – Five on the Five Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The train-wreck in the album. Sorry, but this song turned me off. |
The Raconteurs – Carolina Drama Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Hell yeah, this album starts awesomely and then finishes awesomely. |
The Raconteurs – Top Yourself Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Ah yes, "you to" sounds more correct than "usual" |
The Raconteurs – The Switch and the Spur Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Note: An appaloosa is a breed of horse. Scorpions and snakes roaming the desert... attacking anyone who comes. |
The Raconteurs – Carolina Drama Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Beautiful isn't it? A literal story, I don't see any hidden meaning in it. One of The Raconteurs' best. |
The Raconteurs – Top Yourself Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Sex. |
The Raconteurs – Consoler of the Lonely Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Awesome way to start off the album... Not sure about the second stanza after the first "I'm bored to tears" chorus. Sounded like "singing a bum note" but that doesn't make sense to me. The song gives me the vision of a guy always going to parties/get-togethers, leaning on a table with a cup in his hand, and being bored shitless. The conversations he has are boring, he's not listening to them, not laughing at any of the jokes. He keeps going to these parties so he can't get a decent meal. He's falling asleep, he's obviously not interested in going anywhere anymore but people keep telling him that being able to is "everything a man could want." I think Jack here is the one inviting Brendan to the parties, telling him he'll be a loner if he doesn't go and promises him "something good to eat." Don't know what the murmuring from the child in the beginning is about... |
The Raconteurs – Many Shades of Black Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Anyone understand the last line in the second stanza? It sounded like wasted free (either literally wasting an otherwise free year or "wasted-free" as in drunkless) to me but I doubt it's right. This song is clearly about a break-up. The guy thinks it is enough and does not regret breaking up. |
Islands – Swans (Life After Death) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
As the others have said, I think this is the sequel to the Unicorns journey (just without Alden). And, again as others have said, it alludes to the Unicorns a bunch of times in the lyrics. |
The Unicorns – Thunder and Lightning Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I thought it was about raping someone (including murdering them). And then hiding. |
The Unicorns – Ghost Mountain (First Version) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Lyrics are wrong (what a surprise). I like this version much better than the one on WWCOHWWG. Nice singing. |
The Unicorns – Ebb Tide, Azure Sky Lyrics | 16 years ago |
There is a place where no clouds go... Almost identical to Arcade Fire's (their fellow band) We know a place where no planes go We know a place where no ships go No cars go... blah blah no space ships go blah blah no subs go etc... The second part of the song with the clear drums is so awesome. |
The Unicorns – The Unicorns: 2014 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Nick Diamonds was born in 1981 so he would be 32 in 2014 (before his birthday that is). And, as someone said, the band was formed in 2000 so it would 13 years old in 2014 (again before its birthday). He just feels really passionate about the band and feels like it will last forever (side by side 'till 2025). Oh how I wish they reunited. |
