The Band – Ophelia Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Actually Rayman, I'm 18 and have been a fervent The Band fan since the tender age of 7. I was singing the na na nas on The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down long before I knew what it was about. My parents taught me well... :) God I love The Last Waltz. I feel like I was born in the wrong decade. |

Regina Spektor – Two Birds Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I can't help but think that the old Regina would have ended the song with: "Two birds on a wire One tries to fly away and the other (Spoken) Won't move from that same f*cking wire..." I don't think this song is so much about a relationship, but just normal Regina observations of people. How some people will try new things, and others won't. How people miss out, stick to what they know, stay with people because it is safe, etc. |
Regina Spektor – Eet Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Well, I don't want to judge an entire album based on the four songs we've heard so far... If someone had played me Fidelity, Better, On the Radio, and Hotel Song and said: "Behold, the new Regina album", I would have been very disappointed. But, Begin to Hope had some beautiful moments. I think the thing that scares me, is that although the lyrics are still excellent, the songs don't appear to be as creative musically and they seem overproduced. I still love Regina though and would love to see her live again. That way, you get her and a piano (and a drumstick). |
Regina Spektor – Belt Lyrics | 16 years ago |
For this song: Go to http://www.reginaspektor.net/ Scroll down, until you see 'Belt'. Right click and then 'save target as'. Of course, do that to whatever other songs you don't have. Regina's amazing. tinylittlewords has it just right. |
Angus and Julia Stone – Just A Boy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Also, just a boy suggests he's still young and still learning. |
Angus and Julia Stone – Just A Boy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think this is about an infatuation. It's fairly obvious. But I also think the main crux of the song is the title, "Just a Boy". As if being a boy, he can't but being infatuated. "You can hold me to that": his feelings won't last and are unreliable, but he's just a boy and what he's feeling now for her he can't help; he's totally sucked in. |
Angus and Julia Stone – The Beast Lyrics | 16 years ago |
First off. Amazing song. Great opener to the album. I think this song is about becoming a slave to corporations, "the man". Just the whole idea that corporations are an evil, living breathing thing: "the beast". And working for it, you couldn't be "late". It's demanding. Just how money driven our world has become and the evil things in the world. |
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Shuffle Your Feet Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Love this song. Sounds kind of gospelly. I'm not at all religious, but it seems that way to me and b.r.m.c. have a reputation for having religiously charged lyrics. |
Sweeney Todd – By the Sea Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Because, like many people I'm sure, I tried to find the lyrics from the Movie and not the original cast recording, here are the lyrics from the movie. Ooh, Mr. Todd! (kiss) I'm so happy! (kiss) I could (kiss) Eat you up, I really could! You know what I'd like to do, Mr. Todd? (kiss) What I dream (kiss) If the business stays as good? Where I'd really like to go, In a year or so? Don't you want to know? Do you really want to know? By the sea, Mr. Todd, that's the life I covet, By the sea, Mr. Todd, ooh, I know you'd love it! You and me, Mr. T, we could be alone In a house wot we'd almost own, Down by the sea! TODD: Anything you say... Wouldn't that be smashing? LOVETT: Think how snug it'll be underneath our flannel When it's just you and me and the English Channel! In our cozy retreat kept all neat and tidy, We'll have chums over ev'ry Friday! By the sea! Don'tcha love the weather? By the sea! We'll grow old together! By the seaside, Hoo, hoo! By the beautiful sea! It'll be so quiet, That who'll come by it, Except a seagull Hoo, hoo! We shouldn't try it, Though, 'til it's legal for two-hoo! But a seaside wedding could be devised, Me rumpled bedding legitimized! Me eyelids'll flutter, I'll turn into butter, The moment I mutter I do-hoo! Down by the sea, Married nice and proper! By the sea, Bring along your chopper! To the seaside, Hoo, hoo! By the beautiful sea! In terms of what this song means to me, I think what it means to me isn't nearly as important as what it means to Mrs. Lovette as this is a song that reveals her true obsession with Todd and her fantasy to run away and leave London with him. |
