St. Lola In The Fields – Don't Say Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I love this song but my favorite part has to be the part where she sings "If I thought you'd do me no harm, I'd fall, I'd fall into your arms." In general I think that the lyrics are pretty self explanatory though. |
The Bird and the Bee – Come As You Were Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I love this song. It's on a cd that's on a loop at work and I still can't get enough. |
Margot & the Nuclear So and So's – Open Your Eyes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
and thursday was harder to take with these pills piled high on my plate, so i swallow each one in a haze. in a cascade of light, i was saved. Those lines just kill me. He justs sounds like he's so tired of being saved from death when his life is just so much worse. It's one of those heart wrenching songs that just makes you teary eyed. |
Margot & the Nuclear So and So's – Skeleton Key Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think this song is about just one man and one woman. The guy singing is involved with a girl that leaves the men she's with after she "saves" them. She only goes after men that need her to fix them. So when she falls for the singer he doesn't believe her and keeps saying our relationship isn't special and she's exactly what she was to all those other men that she was to him. So eventually, she becomes depressed and leaves and that's when the singer realizes that she wasn't there because she thought he needed fixing, she was with him because she loved him. And he feels bad because he broke the fixer. |
The Maccabees – Toothpaste Kisses Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song isn't about an abusive relationship, it's about waking up and going to sleep with the person you love. The heart shaped bruises are hickeys or the marks left after you feel like your heart is bursting out of your chest when you're around that person. Kind of like in the cartoons when the characters heart beats wildly out of their chest when they see someone attractive. |
Greg Laswell – Your Melody Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I love the last two lines "And my ears are deaf to the sound of sense I've tried to beat it in" Isn't that how everyone feels when they're in love? |
Citizen Cope – Sideways Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think this song is about wanting to forget someone and not being able to. He says that diamonds fade because they're so strong and they'll still eventually disappear and he's hoping that what he's feeling will be the same way. That eventually, even though it's strong and heartbreaking it will fade away. |
Sera Cahoone – Only as the Day Is Long Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I can't believe only one person has commented. I love this song. But i believe the line is "You light another cigarette my eyes are on THE fire" |
Charlotte Sometimes – waves and the both of us Lyrics | 16 years ago |
either way, this song is pretty amazing. I'm pretty sure everyone knows that it's about having sex so i don't really have to go into interpretation. |
Coldplay – Sparks Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song reminds me SOO much of my last boyfriend. I didn't want to get serious because i've been hurt too many times but he convinced me and i really gave him my heart. But then just before I was supposed to come see him he told me that he met someone else and it broke my heart. Two weeks later he sent me a message to tell me that he made a mistake and he wanted me back and i swear i heard this song in my head. I think it's the second verse, that could be a conversation between us. Me: My heart is yours It's you that I hold on to That's what I do him: And I know I was wrong But I won't let you down (Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah I will, yes I will…) because we both know that even though he wanted to try again, i couldn't put myself out there again because there was a good chance he would have been my let down yet again. |
Ryan Adams – When the Stars Go Blue Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"are you happy now" that line just gives me chills, i love how he sings it. Bono and the Corrs can't even touch this. Schulyer Fisk did a part of it on one tree hill and it was pretty amazing i have to admit but no one can even touch the original. |
Radiohead – How to Disappear Completely Lyrics | 16 years ago |
everytime i hear this song it makes me want to shut out the world and just curl up in a ball. I don't think it's meant to be depressing but it sort of is, even if it's a beautiful song. I don't know but i'm listening to it know and it just reminds me of Robert Frost theory of human isolation, we basically spend our lives trying to overcome it and there are moments when we completely understand each other, this song is basically that moment for me. |
Little Wings – Boom! Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I can't believe no one has commented on this song yet. I personally love it and I think it's obviously about war time, the men who fight, and the land that wars are fought on. I dunno, but it's a pretty amazing song. |
Snow Patrol – Set the Fire to the Third Bar Lyrics | 16 years ago |
For me this song is about long distance love. Let me explain it with a story. I was really serious about this guy and when we finally got together we had to move apart from each other. We were at least 200 miles apart at all times but it never seemed like that far because we were so close and in love. But after a while, you need someone who's there physically. I got a call one night from him. He was at a bar and he called to tell me that he was taking another girl home. It broke my heart but in a way, i understood. And then I heard this song and it basically gave me a moment of clarity. |
A Fine Frenzy – Ashes and Wine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i think this song is about falling in love with someone close to you and then getting together with them when you're drunk. But then the guy gets with a new girl and she's everything you want to be and your anger drives you to say things you don't mean and you lose everything you ever had with him. Because not only do you lose this guy that you're totally in love with but you also lose your friend. you're not asking for another chance at love, you're asking for another try with your friendship. "Ashes and Wine" signifies the relationship that has changed for the worst. |
John Mayer – Dreaming With A Broken Heart Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i love how all of John Mayer's songs are deep and beautiful but he's the first to admit he's a douche bag. I feel like he's an ass who knows how to spin things to make girls like me fall in love. |
Kate Voegele – No Good Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think it's pretty obvious that this song is about a girl trusting a guy and realizing that it was a mistake when he lets her down. "Don't test my patience baby 'Cause I aint gonna let you off easy" Just basically says it all. It's like she's retracing her steps in order to get back to the person she was before she met him and now she's not just going to forgive him for everything he's done. I dunno, that's just what i got. |
Damien Rice – Delicate Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Considering Accidental Babies is part of this it's safe to say that this song is about an affair. They have an affair, they love each other but she doesn't want to keep going on with it. This makes him upset because he thought that she was in love with him, like he was with her. But then he finds out that she was just attracted to him, that she really does LOVE her husband but she wanted this other guy. So she wanted to get him out of her system. And now that she's done that, she throws him away. And that's hard to accept, no matter who are you. |
Damien Rice – The Blower's Daughter Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I got this, a guy and a girl are in love and something happens that the guy blames himself for so he dumps her before she can even tell him what she thinks. LAter, when the guy is really missing her he goes and tells her that he's sorry for what happened that's where the "Did i say that i loathe you? Did i say that i want to leave it all behind?" comes in. She's angry that he assumed that she wouldn't understand so she really tells him it's over and then he leaves. because even if he misses her and blames himself for everything, he knows eventually they'll both find someone new to love. |
Damien Rice – The Professor & La Fille Danse Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Guy thought he loved girl, guy sleeps with girl, guy finds out girl is a liar, guy still loves girl, guy feels like he's going crazy, guy decides to have 'no strings' with girl, guy still feels crazy, guy and girl sleep together regualrly but they don't speak because then it makes the situation real, and neither of them can handle that. |
Damien Rice – Volcano Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Here's what i get, the girl is offering to blow him but the guy is saying no, because she doesn't mean that much to him (funny, i've never heard a guy turn down a girl for THAT reason but anyway...) and when the song says "what i really need is what makes me bleed" he's not saying that she needs sex, he's saying that she should be looking for a deep connection when it comes to intercourse, not looking for a wham bam thank you ma'am to fill a void. That's my take. |
Damien Rice – Prague Lyrics | 16 years ago |
After reading the lyrics while listening to Cheers Darlin i think this is a little something else. I think He's friends with the bride a groom and the groom is getting married to the girl he's in love with. I think that's where the line "All dressed up with you I'm all dresses up for him too..." Comes from. He's not just there because he's in love with the girl, he's there because he has to be there for his friend no matter how much it hurts him. Kind of a wierd twist to 'my best friends wedding'. This poor guy is the Jules, but worse, she and Kimmie are close. |
Damien Rice – Cheers Darlin' Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think the great thing about songs like this is that even if the artist wrote them because of something else they can mean anything to you. i think this is about a man watching the girl he's always wanted marry someone else. And he and the girl are friends so he still has to see her all the time. What kills him is that she doesn't notice the pain that he's in, or if she does, she never really connects the dots. Which upsets him because they're supposed to be friends. This song always make me think of jim and pam from the office. |
Damien Rice – Cannonball Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I've always taken this song as someone who's looking back on a time when they couldn't figure out how to live thier life. Looking back, all the mistakes that he made led him to happiness. Courage was taught by him being shy, love, which is built on trust was only found because he was lied to so much and knew how to weed out the people who weren't true. I dunno, that's just what i think. |
