Anthrax – Caught In A Mosh Lyrics 13 years ago
"You're always in the way, like a beast on my back
Were you dropped as a baby, cause brains you lack" - Win.

But yeah, it's about being stuck in an argument with an idiot. Like when you're in a mosh pit, you don't get anywhere, you keep being stuck in the same place.

Iron Maiden – The Man Who Would Be King Lyrics 13 years ago
@ all-american girl: So true. This is one of the best songs off The Final Frontier, with When the Wild Wind Blows, Isle of Avalon, The Talisman and Starblind.

As for the song, I think it's about a man who is reflecting on his life and is trying to find himself. He's done things that he regrets (Judging from the lyrics it seems he killed another person, or deprived that person of his life in some way), and he realizes that all the things he has struggled for in his life really aren't any significant. The only way for him to make up for his actions is to face himself.

Megadeth – Diadems Lyrics 14 years ago
From my point of view, the lyrics are about the fucked-up state the world is in. Today, the mainstream human population is solely interested in their own desires, such as greed, sexual desire and contempt of their enemies ("Sacriledge and blasphemy sets the stage today"). The part starting with "One man rules the earth and rides the seven-headed beast" refers to the beast in the Book of Revelation, like Hellbound described, and means that mankind is ruling over the earth with an iron fist, casting everything into disaster with its hatred, and so "the beast" lives through humanity. "Dreams are told of dreams of old, this day will surely come" means the Book of Revelation's prediction of the end of the world through this way the world is living and treating each other. The last part before the final "I faw a new world today..." means that mankind is never satisfied with the constant vengeance and hatred it practices, and like the above said, the netherworld and Sheol (The "abyss" in Hebrew) lives through man.

Finally, I think "I saw a new Earth today, I saw a former pass away" might describe the wipeout of civilisation through a nuclear holocaust or similar.

Incredible song, it's so beautiful yet so dark and evil-sounding. Way to go, Megadeth.

Exodus – March Of The Sycophants Lyrics 14 years ago
Well described, Sonic Raider, I couldn't say it better. I'd also say it's generally about the hypocrisy of most of the Christian churches in the US and their influence on the population, how all of their followers swallow the bait and don't question or criticize anything about their agenda.

This song is about fully living your life and not fearing anything.

Exodus – Good Riddance Lyrics 14 years ago
I don't think it's just about global warming; the lyrics are much like Downfall, basically stating how human population and civilization is going to destroy itself because the people in charge of it are a bunch of greedy, power-hungry fucktards with no care about the environment nor we who inhabit the planet.

Lamb of God – In Your Words Lyrics 14 years ago
I'm not entirely sure, but I think this song is about how the churches are using religion to make money off their believers, and how their priests take advantage of it to ascend themselves to a higher status. Thus "A sacred cash cow with sickly tits, dripping temptation for hypocrites".

No one of these who preach religion believes in it themselves, they just take advantage of it for their own winnings. ("A legend in his own mind, enthroned by lies") The main character sees through all of these lies and challenges the preachers to show their true face, and he leaves behind what he once believed in, what once gave life, but that is now infested with plague. Too bad this is true in so many cases.

DeadXheaD – Dead Head Lyrics 14 years ago
Great song by a very underrated band. I recommend you check out their 2006 debut album 'Regressive by Default', every song on it is kickass and I'll keep uploading the lyrics for them.

As for the lyrics, I think they are about a person who is constantly being opposed by the people around him as they ridicule and make fun of him. Eventually, this treatment brings out his violent side so that he can take revenge on them ("I grab my gun, let's do some fun"), but the problem is that this is exactly what they want, because this way, he turns himself into one of them. He knows that they're just talking bullshit, but everyone has their limit of how much they can take, and it takes away his advantage that he is actually a good and righteous person. In the end, it basically makes him feel brain dead.

The message, as explained in the four final lines, is to not let this kind of people into your mind and let them take control of you.

Metallica – Cyanide Lyrics 14 years ago
Easily said, this song is about suicide. However, I think it might be used as a metaphor to how Metallica musically "came back" after releasing three mediocre albums. What they might be trying to say is that the "spirit" of the band died during the recording of Load, ReLoad and St. Anger, and with Death Magnetic, they buried their past and left it behind ("You're just the funeral I've been waiting for" and "Break this empty shell forevermore").

Megadeth – Play for Blood Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this song is a kind of sequel to My Last Words from PSBWB. Remember it was about Russian roulette? Well, there are a lot of things in these lyrics that point to the same thing. The main character plays the roulette because he's bored, and because he wants to see blood. He believes he'll never die and that it's impossible for his opponents to win.

"Inside the abattoir
The cover charge is somebody's gotta die
Now I hear you screaming out for mercy
Last man that's standing wins the fight"

Explains it all.

Annihilator – Set The World On Fire Lyrics 14 years ago
Kickass song. I think the lyrics are about how leaders of war exploit their soldiers to freely wage war, taking full control of them and using them as nothing but mindless tools that are going to die sooner or later.

From the pre-solo bridge and to the end, though, I think the lyrics could be from the soldiers' perspective, that the people are fed up with how they are treated, creates an uprising towards the leaders and overthrow them. Alternatively, the whole song could just be from the eyes of the war leaders, and in the end the soldiers are made into scapegoats for the war.

Megadeth – The Hardest Part of Letting Go... Sealed with a Kiss Lyrics 14 years ago
These are the right lyrics, not aristuma21's.

This song seems to be about a person who falls in love with someone, and they become a couple. Soon, something happens that makes the main character turn against his love, and plots revenge towards her. At the end, he leaves her behind.

Very emotional and powerful song, one of my favorites on Endgame.

Great song, one of my favorites so far from Endgame. The lyrics are about the North Hollywood shootout in 1997, where two bank robbers engaged in a firefight against LAPD officers. The robbers used fully automatic rifles that were able of piercing through the officers' body armor, and wore body armor themselves that the officers' handguns couldn't penetrate.

Eventually, SWAT arrived with heavier firearms that could defeat the bank robbers, thus "shot Achilles' heel and brought down the beast".

Megadeth – Head Crusher Lyrics 15 years ago
Great song. Is this going to be the best album they've done since Countdown to Extinction?

I think the lyrics pretty much speak for themselves - They're about a torture device that was used in the Middle Ages, and that consists of a kind of iron helmet with a screw attached to the top of it placed on a pedestal on the ground. Criminals or war prisoners would place their heads inside the helmet, and their heads would slowly be compressed until they were completely crushed, either as an execution or to force a confession or secret from the prisoner.

Iron Maiden – The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg Lyrics 15 years ago
I think boneyard's theory is the most accurate we've had so far. I also believe that, if Eddie truly is the reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg, the single artwork has a connection to wanting to the line "To exorcise this hell" - He's trying to dig up the corpse of Breeg and ultimately destroy it to destroy himself and his reincarnation in the process, to save himself from the evil he has committed in the shape of Eddie.

Megadeth – Sleepwalker Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the line "Calling you in a buckwheat" should be "I'm calling down the thunder".

From my point of view, it sounds like the lyrics are about a serial killer who kills his victims in his sleep, maybe in some sort of revenge, which would fit to Bionicman's story.

london67's comment pretty much summed it up. The last verses seems to be about one of Satan's henchmen who advocate his evil and try to trick people into joining their Satanic cults, and then from Satan's perspective as he acquires a person's soul.

Epic song, the live version is even better.

Machine Head – Beautiful Mourning Lyrics 15 years ago
The line "God let the angels die" could very well be about Robb's atheistic position, but in connection to his own explanation of the song, it could also mean that any kind of salvation or freedom from the shit he's going through (The 'angels') is gone and out of sight.

Great fucking song, very emotional and powerful lyrics.

Guns N' Roses – Riad n' the Bedouins Lyrics 15 years ago
I don't think the song is directly about 'Riad and the bedouins' in a subject way. I believe it's about a person who has had very bad experiences with love and expressing it to someone, to a level that he's going insane. He doesn't want to be reminded about his misfortune and experience more of the shit he has gone through (But I dont give a fuck 'bout them/But I have had enough of them), so he slowly starts to isolate himself from love and human feelings.

The song is about the war in Iraq, and how holy wars are promoted in culture through religion.

Also, the guitar riff that comes in at about two minutes into the song is so goddamn wonderful. Reminds me of one of the riffs in Megadeth's "Good Mourning/Black Friday".

Lamb of God – Walk with Me in Hell Lyrics 15 years ago
Great fucking song. But yes, it is about an individual whose life is a living hell, with no true friends, only false ones who constantly drag him down into misery ("Take hold of my hand, walk with me in hell"), and who prays that all the shit will be put to an end.

I wish the rest of Sacrament could have been like this song. This is pretty much the only song I really like off the album.

Guns N' Roses – Back Off Bitch Lyrics 15 years ago
This song, from my point of view, is about putting an end to a bad relationship with a friend of yours - Not necessarily a girlfriend - who has seldom shown any feelings for you, and done nothing but use you to achieve fame and glory for him- or herself ("So stake your claim, your claim to fame").

During the timespan from when GN'R got famous upon the release of Appetite for Destruction, to when they started working on the songs on the UYI albums, it's possible that Axl wrote the song about many of the female fans that had hitchhiked on his fame and amused themselves at his expense.

Muse – Assassin Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is a call to the world population to rise up against our own leaders, and break down the walls of insanity that they're slowly building up, before they are built too high for us to overcome. The way that the leaders are trying to solve the problems of the world but instead making them grow bigger only makes us >>lose control in increasing pace<<. However, the lyrics do not only attack our leaders, but also ourselves for being a part of the problem. >>Want only (=) waste<< - by letting our endless greed and craving for more take control over our minds, we are slowly wasting ourselves, and our otherwise good >>intention is erased<<.

The sentence "Oppose and disagree, destroy demonocracy" has several different meanings. The first thing people think about when reading the line is that we must together destroy demonocracy - A political system that looks democratic from outside, but is everything opposite to democracy on the inside, and is controlled by the world leaders, being the "evil demons" behind the system, but there's an alternate interpretation from my perspective. However hard we try to let democracy become a part of our world's political system, we won't be able to succeed, as opposing and disagreeing is a part of our lives and can never be completely destroyed. In the same whole part, this means that since we can't come to an agreement and since we frequently clash against each other, we are destroying our chances to destroy demonocracy.

The people of the world are torn by and tired of this madness that they are all going through, and driven by desire to make a difference, they >>join forces underground<<, giving birth to the assassins of revolution.

So basically, this is a revolutional song, but at the same time, it tells us that blaming the people that are supposed to be our examples as another way out will lead us nowhere.

Great song as well.

Personally, I like this version much better than the original one by Golden Earring, mostly due to the very neat drum solo between 3:18 and 3:28 and more inclusions of electric guitar playing. Still a great song, perfect for driving, I heard. :)

Wolfmother – Joker & The Thief Lyrics 16 years ago
From what I heard, the lyrics of "Joker & the Thief" was influenced by "All Along the Watchtower", the famous folk song by Bob Dylan. Anyway, I do believe the song is about a man - The Joker - who is traveling through the world in search for only one thing - Pure love. The opening line where it describes him as "a wanted man" is due to that the women who have met him during his life has flocked around him like crazy, but only exploited him for their own desires, and not expressed any feelings for him. However, The Joker hasn't either showed any feelings for the women he has found, and only used them as slaves that he choose to control ("Always laughing in the midst of power"). However, he finally understood that this was a mindless, stupid way to live (The "sweet" in his heart overcame the "sour"), and so he decided to search for his eternal love, not going home until he has found her ("We are not goin' home", sung from the perspective of the band, who follows him on his travel). And I believe in SirNirian's theory about "The Thief" being the woman The Joker one day will meet, and thus, as you often say when it comes to love, steal his heart. In other words, Andrew Stockdale wrote a story about the search for true love.

What the ****? The whole comment didn't show up... Oh well, what I was trying to point out was that you've got it wrong - While the ALBUM TITLE is named "Reign in Blood", the SONG TITLE is by the name "Raining Blood". In other words, a sound-similarity, word-difference play.

Flyleaf – I'm So Sick Lyrics 16 years ago
I can't see any other lyrical meaning behind "I'm So Sick" than that the main character the song is focusing on is so incredibly fed up with the terrible, apparently very egoistic (Empty bliss, selfishness) ways the people around her have, so sick of it all that she decides to take it out on them all. Awesome song, though - Lacey Mosley is a fantastic female vocalist, one of the best in the whole wide world. :)
