It took a while, but this song finally grew on me. It's now one of my favorites, though it still creeps me out sometimes with the whole stalker vibe, but I like y'all explanations of it. I didn't know it was Emily Haines singing, but it's true Stars is part of the gigantic Venn Diagram that is the Canadian Indie music scene, so it's not too hard to believe. Her and Amy sound really similar though. |

I always got the vibe that it was an affair that at first was just for the sex, but turned into something more. Maybe they were friends both cheating on their respective significant other's? I don't know. But cheating is definately in there somewhere... I love this song. Definately one of my favorites. |

Not rape. I think this is breakup sex, but they're through. The girl kinda just wants to have a clean break, but the guy is clinging to the last bits he can get. "Take me like that, ruin it all, then build it again by the light in the hall" I think is one of the biggest lines in there. It's like if the guy "takes" the girl aka has sex with her, he's "ruining" the end of the relationship with it. But, he's hoping it will fix it and they can build their relationship again afterwards, but to her he's ruining it.
Beatiful song. When I saw them in concert, Torq said "this is a song about f*cking someone to death." I think that just enforces the idea that the guy is "killing" the girl by ruining her clean break up. |

Haha whenever this song comes on in my car, I like to tell my friends "Oh, this is a song about kinky sex." And get the immediate "wtf?" faces. I love this song. I think it's more like to be really expressive with your emotions. Be aggressive. Take them to the max. At least, that's what I get from it. |

I always thought it was just a guy unhappy with the life he has. Kinda what Bluemask said "I never loved that whore, I never will no more... Except for a month back in '84" I think really emphasizes it. He knocked her up and had to marry, and now he regrets it. But, this is the best he's got now, so if he does push them away, there's no one else there. Pretty sad.
This was actually the first Stars song I ever heard, and I'm so happy I did, because now they've been my favorite band for a little over a year and I have every single one of their songs. This is still my all time favorite, though, One More Night comes in close 2nd. |

I also heard this in Juno, and I think that the couple in Juno is the perfect one for this song. Favorite line has to be "You're a part time lover and a full time friend," and that's exactly how it should be. |
